What Insiders Are Saying
The new and improved Dirt Candy location on the Lower East Side is bigger and shinier. And it’s still really, really good.
Fantastic food, wonderful service, very accommodating for dietary concerns
I was expecting dinner menu even though it was 2 pm on Sunday. I was a little confused by the menu we ordered alcarte and we were very happy..
Fabulous! great vegetarian meals suited for anyone
Fun idea, but after each course it feels more and more like a gimmick. Some items were really tasty; overall I think there's a liberal use of salt which overshadows the cooking. We probably wouldn't go back; given the $99 price per person for the tasting menu we didn't expect to want 99¢ pizza after- but that's exactly what we did next.
I loved the service here. So attentive. The food was fantastic. Need to go back with more time for the 9 course dinner.
Amazing 9 course menu, outstanding service. Don’t know how they achieve such flavors!
The chef of this restaurant is phenomenally creative. The plates of food here are delectable, artistic and innovative. It is not what you think of when you think vegetarian. I am a tremendous fan of her as a professional and a chef. The world would be a much better place if we had more people like Amanda Cohen in this world.
Dirty Candy was fantastic. Was a little disappointed that it was a very similar menu to my previous visit, but all of the dishes were delicious! Staff were great and extremely friendly and generous.
Very interesting and innovative presentations and dishes. Some dishes very good, but some food more ordinary. The matching wines were decent but uninteresting. A carrot burger that tastes carrot is not worth it. Overall interesting but largely overprized.
I went with a friend for my birthday. I could not have had a more delicious, creative, and fun meal. Everything was fantastic!
We had high hopes for a great dining experience. We were disappointed. For a tasting menu everything should have been perfect. The dishes were uneven in quality and taste. Desserts were gimmicky. No flavor but sweet. The service was good. As experienced vegetarians and cooks, we would have preferred more focus on the execution of the vegetables and less showy presentations. Don’t think we’ll be back.
It was amazing!! The kids liked it mom loved it. Will be back for sure!
Felt grungey and dirty but decent over-priced food. Great service!
We had a wonderful experience! We got there early and were seated at the chefs table. Service was impeccable, and so was the food! It met every expectation!
Thank you to Chef Cohen for such a great night!
We CANNOT wait to go back! It was an amazing and delicious eating experience! Everything exceeded our expectations!!
Food as art and art as food. Fabulous vegetarian menu, service was first rate, Delilah taking care of everything. Excellent wine list. Visited the original Dirt Candy several years ago and Amanda has set the bar for amazing vegetarian food. This restaurant will please and surprise any carnivore.
This was an outstanding experience and simply one of the best dining events I’ve ever had. You really can’t just call it dinner; it’s an event. Every course was more inventive than the last.
Eggplant for dessert, who knew? Amazing experience!
Nice restaurant in the Bowery area of New York. They call themselves a vegetable restaurant. The food was very good. Vegetables are very time consuming to prepare this way and the prices reflect it. Two of us had the 5 course option and total with tax was $141, no drinks. If you back out tax and tip, it works out to $100 or $20 per course. Portions are very small but somehow you end up pretty full. Staff is very attentive and the experience lacks for nothing. I would go again if they changed their menu so I could try different things.
Really impressive food and drink. I enjoyed it very much.
Amazing food and great service!! Definitely coming back again:)
Took way too long between courses, service not very attentive
Innovative vegetarian cooking. Great service.
We went to Dirt Candy and had their 9 course tasting menu. It was magnificent. You do not need to be a vegetarian to thoroughly enjoy this meal. Their food is completely satisfying and filling. It was probably some of the most creative and thoughtful food that we have had. We enjoyed everything but the most unforgettable 3 savory dishes for me were the celery broth noodles, the ice-fruit/cucumber salad and the mushroom pate. And among the sweet dishes, the cauliflower cake was absolutely out of this world. Their cocktails are also noteworthy with very unexpected and unusual fresh and green ingredients. Service was great. Everyone who waited on our table was wonderful and polite. I cannot wait to go back and bring friends and family.
The food here is beautiful AND delicious. It is hard to believe how creative it is. They manage to take ordinary vegetables, cook them to perfection and season them in a completely original way.
Great brunch! Would def come back again for dinner
Yum! They do the most amazing things with vegetables .. we love the brunch - only trouble is deciding what to order, the korean bbq broccoli is as good as they say - and the brussel sprout tacos are delicious - and fun to eat! We try to go every time we're in the city.
Every bite of every dish was astonishing
One of the best meals of my life. Flavors that didn't seem like they would work did. Service was perfect and sweet. Beer list small but worked well with menu
Happy I finally ate at Dirt Candy. This was a special splurge I allowed myself for my birthday. It was well worth it. The service and food was excellent. Even better than I imagined it would be. Look forward to going back there again.
Really delicious and extremely pleasant experience. Excellent value overall. Both of us dining were happy carnivores, and at no point did we miss having meat in the meal.
Fantastic! Even if you’re not a vegetarian. An excellent experience.
The best vegetarian meal I have ever had and I have been vegetarian for 21 years. Creative tastes and presentation, it is definitely an experience not just a meal
Polite, helpful staff & a great brunch menu. It's the second time I've visited (this time, for my wife's birthday) and we were surprised & impressed with the brunch menu. Having a cremant on the wine menu is a welcome replacement for prosecco, which seems to be everywhere else - well done!
My only recommendation is to offer a "small" and "large" KFB. I think we know which size your crowds will opt for.
Looking forward to returning!
Wow, how a year has changed my mind! The place has a nice vibe with hit or miss service. The food has gone from light, tasty dishes, to heavy, fried, tasteless dishes. Their signature Korean fried broccoli is over seasoned fried lumps - no taste of broccoli at all - it could have been anything inside the fried coating. The overpriced brussel sprouts taco is actually tasteless brussel sprouts in a nicely displayed deconstructed taco plate. The best are the biscuits. Too bad as this used to be a very good vegetarian restaurant, but now seems like a vegetarian restaurant found in the middle of nowhere with a chef that is trying to create vegetarian food. There are much better places in the city.
Interesting cocktails, the brunch menu was a great deal, the no tipping policy was a pleasant surprise. We loved the food and the fact that they were able to accommodate an extra person on a short notice helped us a lot. Also, loved the ability to have a brief interaction with the very friendly kitchen folks (thanks to the open kitchen concept). We will be telling all our friends to try Dirt Candy and we will be back!
Incredible experience, could not have enjoyed it more. Every dish blew us away.
Dirt Candy was everything we'd hoped for. Fantastic, creative, beautiful to look at food that was delicious and filling. I had more than enough to eat after our five course meal. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Off the charts creative, attentive, playful and delicious! Love everything about this place. Dirt Candy is the future!
