Very nice..only issue was the chopped salad was disappointing..
Menu was limited but surprising. Carpaccio needs refinement as well as the mash and truffle fries. The mashed potatoes had no flavor except the pepper I added and were not creamy as you would want or expect. The truffle fries were drenched in frying oil and I barely tasted the truffle oil. Sadly, the carpaccio was so thin it stuck to the plate and was difficult to remove without scraping. Happily, the filet was tender and well seared and the Gemelli & sausage a pleasant and tasty offering.
Restaurant in atmosphere were very nice very classic old Italian Initially service was terrific very enjoyable but very pricey Even though we had informed them that we had tickets to the theater it took nearly an hour for us to get our entree. We ended up rushing our entree and having to skip dessert. Our waiter was fine however. Could have been a little more proactive
Our food was very good the Caprese salad was tasty though odd in that it was made with grape tomatoes. The mozzarella and balsamic reduction were excellent .
The pasta à la vodka was tasty unique and very well-prepared. the tuna was prepared beautifully
We were segregated for Valentine’s Day with other couples in a small room. The room was difficult to have conversation in. The service was unorganized and it took quite a bit to get served. Would like to go back on a normal night to see if the experience would be different.
Valentine's Day dinner. Food and service were excellent. Price of food was a bit high but not really bad for the quality. The slice of pie for dessert was beyond delicious, but $12. That's higher than I ever see for a dessert.
Great food! Loved the environment
My husband and I have returned to Diorio's at least twice a year over the past twenty years. We have never, ever had anything but a stellar meal. Everything is always wonderful, from drinks to dessert. How do they do it? Thank you, Diorio's, we love you!
Very nice and very accommodating. Would recommend to anyone a visit here for a top notch business meal. Fantastic entrée selections, loved the Chilean Sea Bass in a corn chowder base, would order it again.
Service was very good and the food was excellent. They made my wife a special dish not on the menu.
Our meal and service were very good. The wait staff is very friendly. The old fashion NYC type bar, booths and ambiance are really neat. The back room is very cozy and is not noisy.
We informed the waitress we were going to the theater in 1 hour and we were done with our delicious meal in 50 minutes.
Diorio’s is consistently good - great for a dinner before show at the Palace. Service was quick and attentive, Brussel sprouts special was outstanding!
Excellent food. Great ambiance. Our waitress seemed to have quite a few tables and it took a little while to order, but we were in no rush and enjoyed the atmosphere and wine. We'll be back for sure.
It had been awhile since we dined at Diorio’s but will be a new regular. The food and service was excellent.
The atmosphere brought us back to the 1930’s & 1940’s! Food was great, although I would have preferred Italian bread instead of rye bread cause it is an Italian resaurant. Clams casino were nicely done! Their signature dessert was yummie! Will definitely come back again for the experience!
The food was as excellent as always, we tried several different pasta dishes and each one was excellent. The ravioli was my favorite. Still a nice wine list, but even though we ordered two bottles of wine over the course of the meal, never once did anyone come to pour wine after the initial serve from each bottle. We were a little disappointed in the neglectful service.
It has great decor and very good food. The wine list is very expensive with only a few wines under $50.
Great food and service!! Enjoyable evening and I highly recommend Diorio’s. We had a great time from start to finish!! Thank you!!
An enjoyable Saturday night dinner before a show. The place was busy, people were having fun. The food was creative and delicious! Can't wait to go back again!
Food and service was great
The food is very qood, but we were very disappointed because the infused vodka martinis, which we normally love, were very watered down. One of the best restaurants in the area, but that was a disappointment. We didn't mention it to the waitress because she was so very nice and attentive, but we will next time if they are still presented this way.
Had a wonderful reunion with traveling friends. It's nice to have good Italian food when thinking about trips to Italy! The staff is always prompt, polite, and friendly. They were very helpful when our party added two surprise guests. It was a memorable evening.
Great eating spot for fine food in restaurant reminiscent of bygone era.
Diorio is still one of the best venues in Waterbury. In a town that looks all but abandoned Diorio soldiers on. The specials are always terrific. This visit, the pumpkin ravioli was superb. Chloe was attentive, knew EVERYTHING on the menu without reading and was an overall delight.
We had a party of 5 for a business meeting. All of us came from out of town, and met half way between our respective offices. We found that Dioio's was a perfect choice. We had a large round table, good for the meeting, in a quiet corner of one of the dining rooms. The staff was very attentive, but did not hurry us along. All in all, a perfect choice.
Wonderful classic ambiance and great Italian food.
One of the top three restaurants in Waterbury. Excellent food and service, has been a fixture for years, but they don't rest on their laurels.
We were very disappointed with our experience at Diorio's. Having never been there before, it was recommended to us by some business friends who live in Waterbury. We did enjoy the atmosphere and booths (however the seat felt uncomfortable after a while). The food was well below what we had hoped for. While my rigatoni ala vodka was very good, both my wife and our friend were disappointed with the pasta bolognese which was very tasteless. Being my wife's favorite Italian dish, she had always had it served with a dollop of rigotta cheese, Diorio's did not serve it that way. She even asked the waitress for a side dish of rigotta but was told they didn't have any dishes with it so they didn't have any in the restaurant. (An Italian restaurant without rigotta cheese?) We did have two appetizers that were very good, the calamari and the bruschetta. Expecting a bill in the $ 160 - $ 180 range, when the bill was $ 241. I was shocked. Hardly gourmet food.
Nice gem, great food, and skilled bar staff. Worth the trip.
Having been here over the years, consistent quality is my expectation. Daily specials are ignored at your loss and I have yet to have a bad meal. I doubt you will find better food found in a nicer room. But be aware that quality has its' price and this place charges equal to what they deliver.
Tolerable food, limited menu. B
Both the service and the food was excellent. It was my husband's birthday and we enjoyed the entire evening.
Overall a good choice for our dinner. We requested and received a booth in the bar area, more secluded, better for conversation. Menu was very good and had something for everyone. Prices were good. Service was good as place was busy. Found the wine menu limited for intermediate priced and wine varieties. Do not recall any Riojas, French whites.
As there are very few "old school" Italian restaurants still in existence, it was great to find Diorio's.
A marvelous atmosphere, excellent service, and terrific food ... what more can you ask for in a dining experience?
I had taken my wife out for our 33 anniversary. We were seated on time. Both my wife and I had an adult beverage. Ordered an appetizer (1) and we split it. Ordered a salad (1) and split it. That was all good . Had our main course . The food was not very good. I found out how bad it was all that night and into the next day. We split a dessert. (1) and I has a coffee. The total bill came to $145.00 . Way overpriced and on top of it all getting sick from the food. I will never go back to this Diorios ..
As good as I remember it. Waitress even got my message on open table that it was our anniversary and made it special for us both. Will be back.
The food is good, but, not as good as in the past. In addition, the previous menus selections were more interesting.
Wines are highly overpriced - $12+ for a smaller-than-usual pour. Food was good; service was fair. Not overly impressed!
Great Food! Pricey for area. Great staff. A bit slow in the kitchen. Everyone loved their meals. Would go back for a special occasion.
Decent food but expensive for what it is. House wine was good. Ambiance is great.
