About Diorio's Restaurant and Bar
The legendary history of Diorio Restaurant began in the early 1920's. The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and reopened in 1991 after total restoration to its original splendor. The legend continues as we remain true to those endearing memories. We have the original marble bar, oversized mahogany bankers booths, tin ceiling and the most impressive acid etched mirrors displaying historical Waterbury. We offer a Private dining Room for corporate or private functions. Diorio Restaurant has once again reclaimed the reputation as Waterbury's finest.

Diorio's Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our meal and service were very good. The wait staff is very friendly. The old fashion NYC type bar, booths and ambiance are really neat. The back room is very cozy and is not noisy.
We informed the waitress we were going to the theater in 1 hour and we were done with our delicious meal in 50 minutes.
The atmosphere brought us back to the 1930’s & 1940’s! Food was great, although I would have preferred Italian bread instead of rye bread cause it is an Italian resaurant. Clams casino were nicely done! Their signature dessert was yummie! Will definitely come back again for the experience!
The food was as excellent as always, we tried several different pasta dishes and each one was excellent. The ravioli was my favorite. Still a nice wine list, but even though we ordered two bottles of wine over the course of the meal, never once did anyone come to pour wine after the initial serve from each bottle. We were a little disappointed in the neglectful service.
The food is very qood, but we were very disappointed because the infused vodka martinis, which we normally love, were very watered down. One of the best restaurants in the area, but that was a disappointment. We didn't mention it to the waitress because she was so very nice and attentive, but we will next time if they are still presented this way.
Had a wonderful reunion with traveling friends. It's nice to have good Italian food when thinking about trips to Italy! The staff is always prompt, polite, and friendly. They were very helpful when our party added two surprise guests. It was a memorable evening.
Diorio is still one of the best venues in Waterbury. In a town that looks all but abandoned Diorio soldiers on. The specials are always terrific. This visit, the pumpkin ravioli was superb. Chloe was attentive, knew EVERYTHING on the menu without reading and was an overall delight.
We had a party of 5 for a business meeting. All of us came from out of town, and met half way between our respective offices. We found that Dioio's was a perfect choice. We had a large round table, good for the meeting, in a quiet corner of one of the dining rooms. The staff was very attentive, but did not hurry us along. All in all, a perfect choice.
We were very disappointed with our experience at Diorio's. Having never been there before, it was recommended to us by some business friends who live in Waterbury. We did enjoy the atmosphere and booths (however the seat felt uncomfortable after a while). The food was well below what we had hoped for. While my rigatoni ala vodka was very good, both my wife and our friend were disappointed with the pasta bolognese which was very tasteless. Being my wife's favorite Italian dish, she had always had it served with a dollop of rigotta cheese, Diorio's did not serve it that way. She even asked the waitress for a side dish of rigotta but was told they didn't have any dishes with it so they didn't have any in the restaurant. (An Italian restaurant without rigotta cheese?) We did have two appetizers that were very good, the calamari and the bruschetta. Expecting a bill in the $ 160 - $ 180 range, when the bill was $ 241. I was shocked. Hardly gourmet food.
Having been here over the years, consistent quality is my expectation. Daily specials are ignored at your loss and I have yet to have a bad meal. I doubt you will find better food found in a nicer room. But be aware that quality has its' price and this place charges equal to what they deliver.
Overall a good choice for our dinner. We requested and received a booth in the bar area, more secluded, better for conversation. Menu was very good and had something for everyone. Prices were good. Service was good as place was busy. Found the wine menu limited for intermediate priced and wine varieties. Do not recall any Riojas, French whites.
I had taken my wife out for our 33 anniversary. We were seated on time. Both my wife and I had an adult beverage. Ordered an appetizer (1) and we split it. Ordered a salad (1) and split it. That was all good . Had our main course . The food was not very good. I found out how bad it was all that night and into the next day. We split a dessert. (1) and I has a coffee. The total bill came to $145.00 . Way overpriced and on top of it all getting sick from the food. I will never go back to this Diorios ..
A classic in Waterbury. Wonderful, attentive service. Great menu, including the specials that were presented that night. Extensive wine list, fairly priced. The booths have high walls; it's almost as if you're in a private room.
It was the perfect place to meet friends halfway between our cities; we'll be there often.
