Dio Deka Ratings and Reviews
The service is good, the ambiance and noise was okay. The food was horrible. My husband and I are way better cook (1000 times better) than the chef that night. The price is outrageously expensive for the quality of food. The bread are two dime size ball of bread. If the restaurant is that stingy, then don't bother sending out to the table. The steak was way chewy for rib eye. The seafood pasta was salty and sour. And what's up with 2 tiny cube of marshmallows? This restaurant is fit for snobbish people with no taste in food. I would not be surprised if the establishment don't last. I had way better food at Chevy's than this. Needless to say, this place does not worth coming back to.
Great place. Service and product great atmosphere.
One complaint is weird doors that create large breeze in restaurant every time door opens. It's California but still gets cold here ! Got to have a better system for your door my wife was cold. Happy wire happy life
Celebrating 72nd birthday. Staff was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. Our waiter Steve was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and made an excellent recommendation for wine. Food was well prepared and presented. Great atmosphere, and relaxing birthday evening.
We've eaten here 4 times this year.
The food is very good, service is well above average.
So why such a low rating?
After making a reservation 2 months in advance, specifically requesting a table as far from the kitchen as possible due to our elderly guests wearing hearing aids - We confirmed this in not one but two follow up telephone calls prior to the event. WHERE WERE WE SEATED?
Not only in front of the open plan kitchen, but also in front of the revolving kitchen door. REALLY?
We were moved to another table, but it took 30 mins and we were thirsty and hungry. It was awkward waiting and not ordering. Yelling across the table to try to keep the momentum going. While the maitre D did comp. us some appetizers, it was a very rough start to what should have been a really happy night out.
This was just too basic a request to screw up, We'll give DD a skip on the rotation of restaurants for some time....
This restaurant has deteriorated badly since their Michelin star days. The wine list is still good, but the food isn't, and the service isn't that great either. Our waiter read the menu to us when we asked a question about the food, and he wasn't very familiar with the wine list. The octopus appetizer was both tough and burned. The house Greek salad had no character, with flavorless vegetables coated by flavorless dressing. The lamb meatballs managed to be gamy and over-spiced (too much cinnamon), and the sautéed mushrooms were just ordinary button mushrooms, boring, and cooked until bone dry. The duck breast was good, a rare treat in a meal of mediocrity or worse.
This restaurant was highly recommended. On a Thursday night it was fairly crowded. The first impression we had was it was VERY loud in the restaurant. There were several large tables that were obviously business dinners, and much of the noise came from these tables. The service was attentative and we wanted for nothing in that regard.
The food was very good. We started with lamb meatballs, which tasted great, but were only warm, not hot, despite the really hot cast iron pan they came in. The lamb chops were well prepared and the accompanying crushed (not mashed) potatoes were tasty. My wife's filet mignon was very tender, but not very flavorful. The side of roasted potatoes she ordered with it were delicious, and enough for both of us to share.
The wine list was over 50 pages long, but the waiter was able to steer us to a wine that we liked and was in our price range. Kudos for that.
I'm not sure we will go back here. It was very expensive, which would be okay if you could converse during the meal, but the noise level was so high that this was difficult. Recommendation - go on an expense account, but not for a romantic date.
Excellent Service......some people might consider the Local Cod dinner selection to be too small. The Branzino fish selection on the other hand was very robust and generous and tasty.
Others will consider $6 for sparkling water and still water a bit steep. By comparison, my tonic water & lime drink was only $3.
It was my wife's birthday, and I requested where she wanted to go. I immediately got a request for Dio Deka. This time was as excellent as the last. The server was friendly, made great suggestions, and seemed to be available just when we needed him. When service seems this easy, you know they are working to make it so! We started with the spreads and pitas. They were excellent. We ordered the short rib Moussaka, the petite lamb chops, along with a side of the grilled romaine hearts. The appetizers were excellent, with the short ribs in the Moussaka being fall apart tender. I was a bit afraid my wife was going to decide not to share... but she did, and commented about how she would be hard pressed to choose a favorite, as both were superb. The grilled romaine nicely complemented our entrees. We brought a bottle from our cellar, and the wine service was as thoughtful as all our elements of our service. Desert was a lovely sundae of vanilla and pumpkin cheesecake ice creams. A selection of nice after dinner drink choices are available, and a 40 year tawny port was my choice, while my wife chose an espresso. There is so much to like at Dio Deka. We will definitely be going back yet again!
Went for our 25th anniversary and we we're not disappointed. Our dinner was wonderful, our server was actually Greek and very attentive. First time I had a Greek waiter in a Greek restaurant. The flourless chocolate cake was so fabulous we went back the next night and had it with a glass of wine after a family party.
I really felt need leave some words after a satisfying meal last Sunday. Price is fair, meat is tender and seafood is fresh, starting bread and a sip of soup really opens my stomach. Servic is wonderful. We also like the final touch of the Greek yogurt for desert. We will definitely go there again. It's one of my favorite area and environment for eating out now.
This is my favorite restaurant in Los Gatos. In a desert of mediocre food and atrocious service, it stands head and shoulders above every other restaurant in LG. Everyone says hello, they always make room for us, the wait staff and management and food are near flawless every time.
Delicious food, impeccable service, lovely ambiance. Enjoyed patio dining and live jazz coming from inside. The food was top notch - I'll be back to try more menu items. The sakanagi was unbelievably delicious! I also enjoyed the branzino and husband loved the steak. Something tells me you can't go wrong here!
A 40th Wedding anniversary celebration. A party of 6. The restaurant was so thoughtful with small touches to acknowledge the event i.e. Writing Anniversary on the menu sheets and complimentary desert with Anniversary written in chocolate. Everyone enjoyed their choice of meal
Been here several times and we love this place. Food is outstanding, very flavorful and always perfectly cooked. The waiters are very accommodating and friendly. I ordered the pork chop which was fabulous, my friend ordered the lamb chop and husband ordered short rib moussaka. The short rib was so tender and melted in our mouths.
Ambiance is elegant but not stuffy and very inviting.
We celebrated our Anniversary here last night and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is located in the Hotel Los Gatos - and they have some wonderful outdoor seating areas. The service was just the right level of attentive without being too intrusive, the food was wonderfully prepared and when we were done with dinner a small Jazz ensemble was playing in the patio - very nice!
We had a great experience at Dio Deka. Darrin, our server, was excellent. Food was great. We loved everything...pita dips, octopus, village salad, branzino fish, pasta, lamp chops. Only issue is that Dio Deka is in need of an update. Chairs are chipped, it's very dark. Other than that, everything was great.
Dio Deka never disappoints! We were celebrating our anniversary. It was quiet enough to carry on a conversation. The food as always, was excellent. Love the little bites the chef sends between courses. Darren provided warm, friendly and exceptional service! Thanks for helping us celebrate!
Dio Deka offers "Fine Hellenic Dining" -- that is Greek food with a chef's special flair. From the amuse-bouche to the luscious dessert, every bite was exquisite and beautifully presented. Our server was knowledgable and attentive. Definitely a lovely venue for a special meal.
We always enjoy this place. It's lively with attentive service and very good food. I did feel the service was initially very rushed with all the appetizers brought at once and that crowded the table. We sat down at 8 so there was no one going to take our table so they could have paced the service better.
