The food here is excellent. It would s what makes us return. We have been here several times for the food. The two issues that are difficult for us is that it is extremely noises and the service is always rushed. It feels as if they are trained to move customers through as quickly as possible to get them out again. Before we get our bottle of wine they are usually asking what we would like for an entree and we haven’t even settled in. I think they probably have so much business that they don’t need to consider these issues but we thought we would share our comments in case it is helpful in some way.
We walked in and were greeted by a friendly face. When we were seated everyone was very professional and the ambiance was very nice. Our waiter Steve was very informative and gave us the run down of the whole menu and recommended the perfect things. In between courses they brought us little munchies that were perfect for the season and something to eat inbetween. The food was a big highlight it was fresh vibrant and best of all amazing in flavor. There was nothing wrong with anything. But what made the experience memorable was our waiter Steve. He was very informative which helped us out a lot.
Christmas Eve dinner with family was spectacular. Our server was top-notch. He recommended three appetizers to start. Several of us ordered the filet mignon. Delicious and cooked perfectly. Also ordered were the Lamb, Ribeye and Chicken entrees. We shared some sides. Fabulous meal from beginning to end. It's pricey, but a nice splurge once in a while.
Waiter was good, but one server put food on the table next to my elbow instead of rearranging the plates in the middle. He was in a hurry and couldn’t be bothered to get the food to a place on the table where we could actually serve ourselves. We had to arrange things ourselves and hold a plate until a server came by to take it away. Not the level of service I expect from this place.
We were sat near the kitchen and it was very loud, we had a party of 5 and could not hold a conversation because of the noise. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful but not good for catching up and enjoying a conversation with friends. The wine list was impressive.
We had not been to Dio Deka for a few years after a couple of less than memorableu visits, and frankly our return was another disappointment. The food was nothing special - and when you are paying the premium prices at Dio, you expect special. On the plus side, service was very good and it is a nice atmosphere.
Starters: wife had a glass of champagne and I ordered one of the specialty cocktails - a Sazerac. I've had plenty of Sazeracs at many places, and this one was basically rye on the rocks, nothing more. We ordered the spreads as an appetizer - the spreads were good but the bread served with it was tough and chewy.
Salad - we split the Greek salad - and they put it on separate plates for us (a nice touch). Fresh, crunchy, not overdressed - very nice.
Entrees - my wife ordered the lamp chops and I had the cod. She requested medium-rare to medium on the chops, what she got was almost blue-rare. I know lamb is usually served medium-rare, but this was beyond that. They were tough and chewy - like the bread. My wife ended up eating around the edges which were the only cooked parts. The cod, also, was undercooked - it was cool to the touch and had a flabby texture. I will say the wines they suggested to go with the two entrees paired very well - they were better than the entrees themselves.
We opted not to have dessert.
My other comment would be on the pacing. While the service was attentive and we did not feel rushed by the server, the pacing of the kitchen is too rapid. We arrived at 7:05 and were done by 8:25 - it felt as though the intention was to turn over tables as quickly as possible. I'd have preferred a bit more time in between courses.
I won't be returning. It's a nice place, but I can pay the same amount for better food and a better overall experience at too many other places.
The service is good, the ambiance and noise was okay. The food was horrible. My husband and I are way better cook (1000 times better) than the chef that night. The price is outrageously expensive for the quality of food. The bread are two dime size ball of bread. If the restaurant is that stingy, then don't bother sending out to the table. The steak was way chewy for rib eye. The seafood pasta was salty and sour. And what's up with 2 tiny cube of marshmallows? This restaurant is fit for snobbish people with no taste in food. I would not be surprised if the establishment don't last. I had way better food at Chevy's than this. Needless to say, this place does not worth coming back to.

One complaint is weird doors that create large breeze in restaurant every time door opens. It's California but still gets cold here ! Got to have a better system for your door my wife was cold. Happy wire happy life
Celebrating 72nd birthday. Staff was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. Our waiter Steve was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and made an excellent recommendation for wine. Food was well prepared and presented. Great atmosphere, and relaxing birthday evening.

So why such a low rating?
After making a reservation 2 months in advance, specifically requesting a table as far from the kitchen as possible due to our elderly guests wearing hearing aids - We confirmed this in not one but two follow up telephone calls prior to the event. WHERE WERE WE SEATED?
Not only in front of the open plan kitchen, but also in front of the revolving kitchen door. REALLY?
We were moved to another table, but it took 30 mins and we were thirsty and hungry. It was awkward waiting and not ordering. Yelling across the table to try to keep the momentum going. While the maitre D did comp. us some appetizers, it was a very rough start to what should have been a really happy night out.
This was just too basic a request to screw up, We'll give DD a skip on the rotation of restaurants for some time....
This restaurant has deteriorated badly since their Michelin star days. The wine list is still good, but the food isn't, and the service isn't that great either. Our waiter read the menu to us when we asked a question about the food, and he wasn't very familiar with the wine list. The octopus appetizer was both tough and burned. The house Greek salad had no character, with flavorless vegetables coated by flavorless dressing. The lamb meatballs managed to be gamy and over-spiced (too much cinnamon), and the sautéed mushrooms were just ordinary button mushrooms, boring, and cooked until bone dry. The duck breast was good, a rare treat in a meal of mediocrity or worse.
This restaurant was highly recommended. On a Thursday night it was fairly crowded. The first impression we had was it was VERY loud in the restaurant. There were several large tables that were obviously business dinners, and much of the noise came from these tables. The service was attentative and we wanted for nothing in that regard.
The food was very good. We started with lamb meatballs, which tasted great, but were only warm, not hot, despite the really hot cast iron pan they came in. The lamb chops were well prepared and the accompanying crushed (not mashed) potatoes were tasty. My wife's filet mignon was very tender, but not very flavorful. The side of roasted potatoes she ordered with it were delicious, and enough for both of us to share.
The wine list was over 50 pages long, but the waiter was able to steer us to a wine that we liked and was in our price range. Kudos for that.
I'm not sure we will go back here. It was very expensive, which would be okay if you could converse during the meal, but the noise level was so high that this was difficult. Recommendation - go on an expense account, but not for a romantic date.
Excellent Service......some people might consider the Local Cod dinner selection to be too small. The Branzino fish selection on the other hand was very robust and generous and tasty.
Others will consider $6 for sparkling water and still water a bit steep. By comparison, my tonic water & lime drink was only $3.
