The food was excellent, but the portions were SMALL and the prices were high. The pumpkin ravioli appi was just 3 pillows (!). The cream of mushroom soup was maybe 1/2 inch deep in an average size flat bowl, which also did little to keep it hot. Our main was the veal piccata, but only 4 thin little "piccatas" and maybe 4 tablespoons of mashed potatoes! Again the flavors of all these food items were superlative, just not enough in quantity. The chocolate cake was the only food item that was a decent size portion, but it was not very moist and its frosting, while thickly applied (I love frosting!), was closer to a [boring] milk chocolate than a rich dark chocolate. I ordered a house old fashioned which was more like a shot of bourbon and a luxardo cherry: no burnt sugar and no orange peel (at least that could taste). I skipped their specialty cocktails due to the pricey $15 and up for them. Finally, Santa Fe that evening was hovering in the teens (degrees) and the restaurant was cold. Only one barely warm, bedroom-sized overhead heating unit in the bar where we ate. I don't appreciate paying these high prices and having to keep our coats on the whole time there. On the plus side, service was quite good and we never felt rushed.

We came to Santa Fe to celebrate my husband’s 65th birthday. We happened to drive past this restaurant as it was around the corner from where we were staying. I checked out the reviews and the menu and it had many things that looked good. We had the chateaubrian which was cooked table side. We also had the bananas foster which was excellent. It was a pit pricey but we expected that as it’s fine dining. The service was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for a great experience.

Been a long time since both the service and food was stellar. Our server was not only patient with our straggling party, but prompt when needed, never rushing us or pushing us out of our desired pace. The food was stupendous - from the thoroughly explained appetizers to the perfectly cooked mains, we were pampered and satisfied. Kudos, will be back

My husband and I did the Thanksgiving dinner at dinner for two and it was freaking amazing. We were at a table in the bar section - great ambience music and hustle and bustle. Server was friendly and had great recs. Everything was well paced. And the meals were incredible. Honestly favorite food of all the places we went to in Santa Fe. Mushroom soup was fire. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting SF!!!

One of our favorite restaurants. And, we come for the food. They have so many selections… The only restaurant I know of in town that has veal on the menu, both piccata and marsala. Truffle mushroom soup would’ve been enough in itself. If I would serve nothing, but that I would’ve been happy. However, I went on Crab stuffed Ruby Trout, covered with a deeply flavorful sauce. Others that our table had turkey with all the trimmings, my husband had a New York strip steak with a blue cheese dressing, and we were all very happy.

It's been about 3 years since I've been at this restaurant. And I was pleasantly surprised with some of the changes they made since then. Lots of new items on the menu and nice happy hour menu that we could also choose from for appetizers and drinks. Wait staff was top notch and accomodated our time request so we could make it to a concert. Tidy and updated, fresh looking interior. Excellently prepared meal.

Outstanding food and service. The Eggs Florentine were prepared exactly the I ordered them. The Mushroom soup was some of the best I've ever tried. Our server, Clayton, could not have been any better. We can't wait to return!

Dinner for Two This hopping, relaxed restaurant, (located a bit off the beaten path, and a little far from the Plaza) is more casual than the other highly rated Santa Fe eateries (think clubby, NYC steakhouse vibe.) That said, the atmosphere is pleasant, and Dinner for Two serves scrumptious food. Yes, the food, (from the Caesar salad, prepared table side, to the composed entrees) was excellent. The entertaining, table side Caesar salad preparation added to the ambiance and meal. It was fresh and lightly dressed with “real time” garlic, lemon, egg yolks, Worcestershire, and Parmesan. Tasty! We then opted for the New York Strip steak, served with crispy frites and vegetables. The steak was perfectly cooked medium and served with a delectable sauce. EXCELLENT! The rainbow trout with crabmeat was enjoyed as well. While we were excited to try the bananas foster, (also dramatically prepared table side) the salad and entrees were so tasty that we sadly left no room for dessert. Also notable is the very well priced wine list. Service is very pleasant and polite, albeit a little slow. Dinner for Two is a restaurant find that must be on your Santa Fe dining list. The food at Dinner for Two is simply too good to miss!

Everything worked well: making reservations on Open Table, service was friendly and prompt, the food was tasty and well prepared, the ambience a little noisy but comfortable, and the tab was expensive but not out of line. D42 is a neighborhood restaurant for us--walking distance--and we'll be back.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We love the people, the atmosphere, the food and the drinks! We celebrated my husband’s birthday here last night. The Filet Oscar and the Organic NM Filet were both amazing! We paired it with a fantastic bottle of wine that the owner recommended. We finished the meal with Bananas Fosters for two. They even put a sparkler in the dessert to celebrate our occasion. We also love eating in the bar during happy hour. They have the best happy hour menu downtown. They do not skimp on the quality of the food or drinks. Some people complain about the music but we think it helps create a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

We went to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The service was impeccable. We had table side service for both our Caesar Salad and our Bananas Foster for dessert. It was much more memorable than your usual salad and dessert! The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were very good. The service staff was attentive but not hovering. They did a great job.

Disappointed regarding few issues. Mentioned my best friend’s 60th B-day & no acknowledgement. Asked for a booth in my Open Table reservation & led to a table instead. Again asked for booth, & seated at a partial booth. My guest sat across from me in a chair, however, the table had a broken leg & was wobbly causing a water spill. We then had to be reseated at a table as no other booths available. We were very interested in the table side Caesar Salad for 2 & part of reason we booked here. Once there, found out “Absolutely No Alterations Allowed,” & my friend can’t eat anchovies. No suggestions or allowance of any kind was offered. Quite disappointing & didn’t feel like good customer service. Also, felt waiter was not very friendly & just going through the motions. However, my veal piccata was delicious & my friend also was pleased w/ her scallops on pasta! The Happy Hour also had some nice selections & we were pleased w/ our cocktails. Maybe just an “off” night, but being out of town visitors, it’s unlikely I’ll have opportunity to visit again.

Amazing place, great food. My filet was very flavorful and tender but not juicy, nor was husband's New York steak. Both ordered medium rare. The table-side caesar salad was amazing!!!!!! As was the mushroom soup. We will definitely go back!

This is our favorite Santa Fe restaurant. Great people, food, drinks and atmosphere. The prices are fantastic for the quality delivered. We eat here multiple times while in town and usually celebrate our last night with a superb meal in the dining room.

Very good food. Service was not great. We had our salad for less than a minute before they brought the entrees. They served the beer after the entrees came and they kept trying to clear the table even as some were still eating. Worst was the so called music. It had a pounding beat and seemed to be on an endless loop. All in all it felt as if they were trying to get us to leave as soon as possible.
