Our server was exceptional! She knew the food and drinks so well, and offered great suggestions. And she modified my cocktail abit on my request, and it was fantastic! We always love coming to the Nonsuch, and will definitely be back soon!

I dined early to attend a jazz performance in the hotel. Menu choices were varied. I ordered the Nicoise dinner with a glass of Pinot Grigio. The salad was fresh and appropriately dressed with a light vinaigrette. I was surprised by the generous portion. Good work in the kitchen: fresh tuna and a delightful poached egg were a rich counterpoint to the fresh greens, tomatoes, and green beans. Rowan provided competent service and ensured that the food arrived in time for me to arrive at the concert without rushing.

A Memorable Birthday Dinner at The Gates on Roblin We recently celebrated a 70th birthday with a dinner for three at The Gates on Roblin, and everything about the evening was just beautiful. The dining room is elegant, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and we were lucky to have a lovely corner table with a wonderful view — the perfect setting for a special occasion. Our server was excellent — warm, funny, and attentive. He offered helpful suggestions, including the beet salad, which I ordered and thoroughly enjoyed. For my main course, I had the prime rib with Yorkshire pudding — it was cooked perfectly and served beautifully. If I had one very small suggestion, it would be to offer a milder option for the horseradish. I enjoy the flavor, but it was quite strong — just a little more kick than I could handle! A gentler version or the choice between mild and hot would have made it perfect. Overall, it was a lovely evening with delicious food, great service, and a truly charming setting. Thank you to everyone at The Gates for helping make this birthday dinner so memorable. —Melissa B.
