About the restaurant
Jordan Pond House, a restaurant and shop with a long tradition within Acadia National Park, sits on a hill overlooking a beautiful lawn along the Jordan Pond. Guests have been enjoying these amazing views and dining at this site since 1893 when Nellie McIntire, the first proprietor, started baking and serving her famous popovers out of the restaurant. Ever since then, we have been serving popovers and tea.

Please note: Reservations may be made for inside dining only. Due to weather variability, we are unable to accommodate reservations for the lawn. Please inform the host at the time of your arrival if you would prefer outdoor seating, and we would be happy to accommodate your request, pending availability.

Portland
About the restaurant

Located in Portland's Old Port District, Fore Street opened in June, 1996. The interior surrounds a unique brick and soapstone hearth with a wood-burning oven, grill and turnspit; visible from most tables. We believe that good food travels the shortest possible distance between the farm and the table. Our menu changes every day and is founded upon the very best raw materials from a community of Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild, each brought to us at the peak of its season. In 2002 and again in 2007, Fore Street was named by Gourmet Magazine as one of the Top Fifty Restaurants in the United States. In 2004, Chef-Partner Sam Hayward was named Best Chef: Northeast by the James Beard Foundation.

Our dining experience was beyond amazing! We kicked off our meal with the delectable mussels, and if you love dunking bread, you're in for a treat! The scallops, sole, and tuna were exquisite and flavorful. The linguine with shrimp was an absolute delight. I've been a loyal patron of Street and Company for years, and I can say it's consistently exceptional and unbelievably delicious!

Lovely dining space with fantastic views. Food was mostly very good. Scallop main was delicious. But crab cakes were dry. Service was poor. Service staff consistently tried to grab away plates before we were finished or the moment we put down our forks. Next course arrived immediately. Not sure why the rush, as we ate fairly late and it was unlikely they were going to turn over the table.

About the restaurant
Havana has been committed to serving local and organic meats, produce and seafood since it opened 25 years ago. All of our meats are “naturally raised” meaning no steroids, antibiotics or hormones and “humanely raised” meaning room to roam, proper shelter and gentle handling. We make every effort to buy only sustainably harvested seafood, primarily from the Gulf of Maine. We have consistently searched out New England farmers and fisherfolk to purchase product that is not only great tasting but great for the environment and local economy as well.

We were here three years ago and when we decided to come back to Bar Harbor the first restaurant we thought of was Havana. Kudos for consistency and creativity. Thanks.

I read reviews of this restaurant and was very pleased with our experience. The restaurant had clearly made efforts to reduce the noise with sound deadening materials suspended from the ceiling. The food was delicious. I loved the meatloaf with maple candied carrots. My husband enjoyed a special haddock dish with a special sauce that made the haddock more flavorful. Then we tried a chocolate torte with chocolate mousse and caramel sauce and cashews. Our waiter, Anthony, was efficient and very friendly. Please try this restaurant. You'll be happy with your choice.
