We stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant, drawn in by the whiskey title in the name. We were ever so pleased we found it, as it was some of the best service and food we have experienced. From the moment we stepped inside it was an amazing welcome and friendly service. Their knowledge of their extensive list of available whiskies is second to none. Would highly recommend to any whiskey lover in Hamburg!

Classic Restaurant. So much history. Best steak and oxtail soup I ever had. The server was wonderful and even the woman owner asked us how our meal was. First class restaurant. I highly recommend this gem.

Mehr Hamburg geht nicht. "Großes Kino auf der Elbe" kann erleben, wer den Weg an den Fähranleger Teufelsbrück findet. Hier, vis-a-vis des Airbus-Werks, liegt das schwimmende Restaurant Engel. Für die Hamburger und ihre Gäste gibt es nichts Schöneres als an oder auf ihrer Elbe zu sein. Man nimmt Platz an fein eingedeckten Tischen im rundum verglasten Restaurant und sitzt in der ersten Reihe, kann den Lotsen beim Wechsel zusehen und die großen Pötte beim Vorbeifahren bestaunen. Zu unserer Küche: "Wir sind keine Revolutionäre, keine jungen Wilden, sondern kochen klassisch-modern, handwerklich fundiert, mit Raum für den besonderen Einfall. Verarbeitet werden ausschließlich frische vorwiegend nachhaltig erzeugte Produkte bester Qualität.“ (Tarik Rose) Wer es etwas rustikaler mag, besucht den Engel Imbiss, der sich im Parterre des Ponton-Restaurants befindet. Und wenn es mal was zu feiern gibt, dann wird der Engel in exponierter Lage auch gerne vermietet.

The Michelin Guide, Gault Millau and Gusto have already recognised the consistently sustainable concept. It has also received awards from the Schweisfurth Foundation for Animal Welfare and the Bioland Association.
Head chef and owner Sebastian Junge completed his cookery apprenticeship at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten and gained experience at organic farms, with bakers, butchers and farmers - which is visibly reflected in every detail of his dishes. As a member of the Slow Food Chefs Alliance and Hamburg's first & only organic top chef, Junge works in a highly sustainable manner & is in close contact with his producers.
Nose 2 Tail plays just as big a role in the restaurant as innovative vegetable cuisine. The team pursues the highest standards of craftsmanship and sustainability, grows its own vegetables and celebrates the preparation of good food.

Die “Marend” ist eine deftige Tiroler Pause oder Jause. Also eine Zwischenmahlzeit oder auch Brotzeit, bei der gelacht wird und die Menschen zueinander finden. In alten Zeiten wurde die “Marend” nach der Feldarbeit in geselliger Runde zu sich genommen und mit einem Stamperl Schnaps abgerundet. Krustiges Schwarzbrot, scharfe Messer, Bergwurzen (kleine Würstchen), derbes Holzbrett, durchzogener Speck und Tiroler Bergkäse gehören zu einem Lebensgefühl von Ehrlichkeit, Bergsteigen, Wandern und dem Mut zur Zufriedenheit.

I visited Hamburg with friends last weekend, and this restaurant was recommended. It was a 4 hour experience that we highly cherished. The staff were excellent, the atmosphere unpretentious, and the food exquisite. I would highly suggest the wine pairing. Looking forward to returning upon my next visit to this beautiful city.
