About

This restaurant is permanently closed.

In New York, Dieci restaurant provides guests with a sophisticated and intimate atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends. Located just a few steps below the street, the vibe is akin to a hideout where you and the few other patrons are in on a secret. Dieci is a delicious secret with gourmet dishes inspired by Italian and Japanese roots.

The Dieci fusion of two radically different cuisines results in an even more unique and satisfying menu. You will want to start out with the uni scrambled egg with sturgeon caviar before jumping into the ramen with spicy lamb Bolognese or Japanese red snapper chazuke served with grilled vegetable rice balls and hoji tea soup.

Even if Japanese Italian fusion sounds weird in the first place, the combination is just awesome. Great food, small and cozy restaurant. My second time here and still new things to discover. I'll be back !

Although I really enjoyed the food from the restaurant, one thing that was unforgivable was that the restaurant lacked proper ventilation and their air-conditioning was non-existent (even though the waitress had said it was working). The restaurant is tiny, so not to have air conditioning during a 90 degree weather/80% humidity just spoiled the entire experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, and would be compelled to come back if it weren't for this reason alone. The whole 'experience' at a restaurant requires comfortable ambiance . Everyone in the restaurant were fanning themselves with their napkin, and I rushed myself through dinner just so I can get back outside. It is unfortunate that I would not recommend this restaurant for this reason alone. Such an easy fix, so I hope this review gets to the owner ASAP.

Interesting Japanese-Italian fusion dishes. The chef uses excellent ingredients.

The dining room is small but comfortable. The music choice and volume seems appropriate for a younger audience than this restaurant attracts, although the staff was good about turning the music down after two requests.

Delicious Japanese inspired dishes. Small dining area, so would recommend making a reservation

Service was excellent. The timing of each dish was made so that we never had to eat anything cold, including appetizers, which arrived one at a time. They also asked if we were sharing the main dishes and divided each one into two separate dishes for us.

Food was good, but perhaps our expectations were too high, but we weren't wowed by the experience. We were mostly disappointed by the appetizers. Although tasty, we did not taste any fois gras in the chawanmushi until we reached the bottom, and it was very light. The uni scrambled egg with caviar was good but not particularly impressive. The scallop crudo was also good, but we could easily find something similar at other restaurants. The uni fettuccine was delicious but could use more uni in the cream sauce. The crab and cod roe gnocchi was the best dish of the night. It almost melts in your mouth!

The venue is very small and cramped, though, so it's not the most comfortable...not a big issue if you aren't claustrophobic!

Small place with good ambiance. Would recommended it for a 2nd date. The cuisine style would be Italian with heavy Japanese influences. Yuzu, sesame seed oils, Uni, if none of these is appealing to you then I would not recomended. With that said, the good is great but the portion side is on the smaller side.
