Dick's Last Resort - San Diego - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
The place was fun. Our server we had a great personality & interacted with the adults & kids (ages 6, 10 & 14) great. He made everyone at the table laugh (10 people total).
The salmon was highly recommend, so I ordered it. The food took about 1 hr to agesrriverrive. It was not crowded, so not sure what the hold up was. Once it arrived, I was disappointed that the highly recommend salmon tasted horrible: it was very dry and tasted as if it was previously frozen (not fresh), the rice didn't taste great either and the green beans tasted like they came out of can & were microwaved (a few people had rice & green beans & had the same feeling).
The server was nice enough to take the salmon plate back & remove it from the table (I took 2 small bites from the whole entrée).
The other food was good (wings, crab legs, crab cakes, chicken bites, fries, Mac & cheese...)
Over all fun time & great server. Just stick with the chicken and fries for food.
I understand they are know for their "attitudes" but that doesn't excuse the poor service we received and the sub par food. The salmon ($18) was extremely dry and the rice had no flavor. My friends thought their meals were tasteless also. I don't mind having service with an "attitude" but inattentiveness and crappy food is inexcusable. Was not a fun experience.
Service was rude (it's supposed to be part of the experience but the staff takes it too far). Menu online is far more helpful than what you get at the restaurant, and the atmosphere is beyond tacky. Items were requested with modifications and for things to be withheld and arrived with the wrong things. Good luck getting the attention of the server, or paying your bill, we spent 30 minutes trying to flag them down and eventually just walked up to our server with the check and card so that we could leave.
Always fun at Dicks. We went for a birthday celebration and our server was great and just the right amount of rude. We really enjoyed him. We had one small complaint. We were waiting for the bill long after we were done and ready to go. Other than that small inconvenience, it was a great time and the food was really good!!
I thought that for the price of the meal, there might have been a larger serving size. The price for beer was waaaay over what it should have been. I realize that this place is in gas lamp, but there is no need to jack up the prices like what I saw here. I could get a 2-pack of beer for the price that I paid for a tall beer here. The service was average at best. I chose not to say anything at the restaurant so as not to embarrass my guests from out of town.
Celebrated our son's 16th birthday and the staff made him fell like a VIP. They treated our family better (for a special occasion) then any of the high dollar restaurants we have been to. We go out to eat for our kids' birthdays every year and this night was the best, by far. Our server was incredible and so much fun! Just the perfect amount of "rude" for the kids! Thank you so much for great entertainment and a yummy dinner!
We went here for a fun night & thought this restaurant would be perfect. We had all been to the Vegas location before & had a great time, so coming to the one in SD sounded great. We were wrong. There were no actual menus to know what we were ordering & the server paid almost no attention to us. No hats. No jokes. We might as well have been at Sizzler.
Went there for all you can eat crab legs on a Wednesday but as their add didn't mention all you can eat crab legs are only on Monday and Tuesday. Decided to eat there anyways and the food is decent for bill was $100 just for 2 of us. Would rather spend that at a nicer venue. Will come back for the all you can eat crab legs for $26.99 though.
The server was great an acted accordingly. The other table he was helping was full of a bunch of teeny boppers that expected way to much of his time that made our service slow. He did the best he could but I was celebrating my daughters birthday as well. I ordered a Mai Tai and got a blue margarita. Told him and he said that is how they are made. It did not taste good so I just gave up and drank water. Food was just bar food. Ok I guess I didn't expect a fancy dinner but the experience just wasn't what I had experienced in the past.
This place advertises they provide "fun, sarcasm and irreverence" - and they do! It was lots of fun. The food was very good, reasonably priced and generous portions but we were there more for the entertainment than the food. There was no parking ot so we had to park in the lot across the street for $13, but that's just San Diego. Since it's in the Gaslamp, you could probably walk from local hotels.
I was expecting waiters to be funny and joke with us but The waiters were rude in a inappropriate way. We went there for my daughter's 21st birthday. The waiter changed his attitude and became more funny and less rude once he noticed we were not laughing to his inappropriate rude jokes. The food is terrible. I would not go back and I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or family.
We went to Dicks following a Padres game. Food was good enough. Campbell was our waiter...he was a good waiter. He was funny and pretty rough on some of the tables. Maybe he knew we weren't that into the sarcastic service because he toned it down a bit for us which worked really well. His recommendations for food were good and everyone had a good time. We had ribs, chicken, burgers etc and very good cocktails.
Not kid friendly they wrote something terrible on my 10 year old child hat.. great for adults not for kids.. they lost our reservation or actally said we DON'T take reservations but this time we can move you to top but 15 people and 54 minutes later we got a seat but couldn't have a high chair because it would have been in way.. I think it would be perfect for adults only and if u wanted to have someone speak to u rude the entire night
We came as a family of four. We new what to expect but unfortunately didn't get it. The waiter went through the motions but because we had 2 kids (one was a teenager) they stayed away from the expected rude behavior. We were disappointed. We had low expectations on the food and that was delivered. The drinks were good. I just wished the reputation lived up to what we expected.
The last time I was at a DLR was in san Antonio. I was much younger and pretty much could eat anything I wanted. I'm sure the menu has changed since and probably more than once. Not too impressed with the food now. Atmosphere was a bit calmer than I expected. It is a fun place and I'd say for younger people - like I once was. It was probably a mistake going back and trying to relive my 30's. In the heart of the gas-lamp district is a good place for them to be..
For a bachellorette party this was the only place to go. However, all six of us could not eat our food due to it being burnt and dried out severely. The drinks were good but i am convinced there was absolutely no alcohol in them so be careful purchasing mixed drinks.
