I was in a hurry to get dinner while attending a conference. food was acceptable, but not great. for reasons unclear the waiter was nearly shouting and I had to ask the waiter to speak in a softer voice. i think the food is ok if you're attending meetings at the baltimore convention center. I would not go out of my way to eat at this restaurant.
Service was so slow and it wasn't even busy. The server needed some help and his peers never offered to give a hand and/or help a customer. Good wasn't so good. A place right across from the stadium should always be ready with extra staff on game day. Ordered a beer and it arrived 15min later
Server- .....what server. i sat. i waited...and waited...then finally learned that the server told the busboy he wasn't leaving his section to take any more orders and walked off....and NO server showed up. Ghetto! I left and I mentioned the experience to the manager on my way out. Permanently off my list.
This is a convention hotel and they are totally unprepared/staffed/equipped for not even a full resturant. Even with a reservation we waited over 15 minutes at the check in stand and then was scolded by the lady checking in tables for not raising our hand and making her aware we had reservations. We had people in front of us and did not want to be rude and cut in front. After another 15 minutes, with no service I complained to a manager and our waitress appeared apologizing that she had too many tables and no coffee pots to serve us coffee. (This is a buffet resturant, so how busy can a waitress really be???...and why does this hotel not have coffee pots??). So now over 30 mins of our 1 hour breakfast meeting was gone and we had no food or coffee. When to the buffet to learn that all eggs are cooked to order, with one cook and 3 fry pans and he is doing mainly omelets and he has a line. Just ask for a fast scrambled egg and noted that the cook did not even wipe the pan from the previous us (all of the pans had egg residue around the handles and lip GROSS!!). So along with my eggs, was some burnt cheese from the previous omelet.
End result was a bill for $197 for 7 people (3 who gave up on the eggs and ate cereal) with 18.5% gratuity automatically added (waitress came by once to refill coffee and once to drop off bill). As well, the other end result is that I had to make an appointment to come to my customer's offices to conduct the business that we had hoped to do during this breakfast.
If you are at a convention at this hotel, find another spot outside the hotel for breakfast or do not attempt to have breakfast business meetings here.
The food was good - but a bit pricey for what you got. The service was terrible. Took 20 minutes for our drinks to come out. Then took a very long time for food to arrive. The server asked if the manager spoke to us after we commented on how long it took the bar to fill our drink order. He/she did not, but via the server took off the 3 drinks we waited for. Place not that busy after an O's game, so expected better service. Crab cakes very good but smaller than other places in Baltimore and more $$ here. One member of our party ordered an entree salad and said the lettuce was "wet" - as in too old. I've been here before for lunch, and service was better. Overall, wouldn't really recommend it if you were trying to impress anyone - mainly due to the poor service we received.
The food selection here was very poor. The service was the worst service ever! It took at least 20 minutes for someone go get us water and coffee. The worst part is, it was not even busy!! Once someone finally approaches us, the 2 ladies and their attitude, like the are doing us a favor! Really, if you don't want to work then go HOME! I do not mind spending money on food, but paying premium on parking and then for terrible service hurts. To top it off the chef that was making fresh eggs could not even make a Over Easy egg. I specifically said please do not burn the edges and make it over easy. It was all crusted and brown then broke cause he could not flip it. So I did not even have eggs!! Bottom line, refrain from going to this place. If you want a better experience I would Suggest Marriott Waterfront.
Service was slow. As in, took drink orders (two bottles of wine--no individual orders) and it was over fifteen minutes before the server came back. She put the bottles on the table and walked away--but the bottles were still corked! Took a few more minutes for us to find her and get orders placed. Everything was like this...half of us got our dinners and then it was another ten minutes until the rest of the plates arrived.
The food was great--it's just a shame that I can't recommend the place due to its poor service.
My coworkers and I ate here twice last week (Wednesday and Friday) for lunch since we were attending the TESOL conference at the Hilton Confernece Center. We had 45 minutes between sessions for lunch and each time we had horrible service. We had a reservation each time and even with that, it took forever just to get our orders taken. On Friday, we arrive for our reservation and were seated right away. Then the server poured us water and didn't come back for 45 minutes to take our food order. All the tables around us also were left waiting. I really am not joking when I say 45 minutes, we timed it! Our food was delicious but the service was horrible. As we paid for our meals we also saw our waitress cough into her hand and then handle food! Ugh! I will not return for a third try at this restaurant.
Wish I could give the service 6 stars. Absolutely unbelievable how well they took care of us and the way they worked as a team to make sure we had a great experience. I run a business and want to steal whoever is responsible for hiring. 5 separate people in our experience stand out as exceptional. Oh... had a light breakfast, so more difficult to talk about the food. Yogurt parfait was fantastic.
Breakfast review: Varied menu and reasonable prices (for a hotel restaurant. Did not try the buffet. Outstanding service and a very friendly staff. One good reason to stay at the Hilton Inner Harbor since it is a somewhat more expensive hotel with very expensive parking. (Yes, I've been told that the parking does not belong to the Hilton even though the hotel is built over the garage. And they are helpless. Poor Hilton.)
Alert: The restaurant may be only moderately busy during breakfast and the greeter/reception person may not bother to ask about a reservation. So it is necessary to insist that the OpenTable reservation be logged-in as used.
We made a reservation and when we got there we had to wait by the hostess stand for 15 minutes and then finally they told us they still couldn't seat us for another hour and that we wouldn't get our meal for another hour after that. We didn't get to eat because every where else had 2 hour waits. It defeated the whole purpose of making a reservation. We made a reservation so we wouldn't have to wait to eat and we ended up having to go hungry because we couldn't get food before the concert. I will never attempt to eat there again.
I've never gone out of my way to leave a bad review for a restaurant online before but this time I had to. First off, we went for "Restaurant Week" and our waiter insisted they weren't participating despite Diamond Tavern being listed on the event's website. I had to ask 3 times and be very pushy for him to look into it...good thing I did because he came back with the menu.
Between waiting for our first course, waiting for our second course and then waiting for our check/a box for our leftovers, we spent close to an hour and a half waiting without any food. I don't know if they were understaffed in the kitchen, with the wait staff or if they were simply unorganized, but the restaurant wasn't even crowded so that was disappointing.
When we finally got our food, the Salmon was burnt on the bottom and they forgot to include pretty important components of our dessert (such as the ice cream.)
When I walked into Diamond Tavern and realized it was one of those restaurants in the bottom of a hotel, I immediately became worried because those aren't typically known for being very good. Unfortunately, my concerns were valid- we will never go back.
My husband and I dined here to be downtown and close to the fireworks. I had the seafood fettuccine which was really good and my husband had roasted chicken with some type of bread pudding which he did not particularly like. He said the bread pudding was dry. I would highly recommend the drinks, the were really good and strong
