It had been years since we dined at Di Valletta, so we thought that we would give it a try. Well it was a wonderful experience. The staff was pleasant and efficient. It was quiet when we got there but more diners came in as we were eating. Our server, Alexis, was very personable and attentive. The food was wonderful, portions plenty and while the menu is not large, there are plenty of options available, and very reasonable when compared with other fine dining establishments.
We will definitely be dining here again soon!
This was my first experience at this restaurant. I was disappointed that we asked for closer seating because my husband is visually impaired and they did not tell us there were stairs down into the restaurant. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which required maneuvering around chairs and tables. It was not crowded at all. My sister and I shared the scallop appetizer which had a horrible taste. We thought that the fried leeks were about burnt which changed the flavor. I ordered the baked chicken it was very dry and hard. My husband ordered a steak which he enjoyed and my sister had the monk fish. For the price of this meal it should have been much much better. My husband and I have stayed at the Biltmore resort and spa. I thought this restaurant would be of the same quality but was sadly mistaken. We will not be returning I am sorry to say.
A friend and I had a recent lunch at Di Valletta and it was nice. Perhaps louder than normal due to holiday parties. We both had the lobster shrimp roll which was very good but not generous in size. Wish there were more than three entrees. Dessert menu needs variety, all but one were ice cream based. Hope choices improve.
Grandover is one of our favorite places. We chose to spend our 52nd anniversary there. The place was so beautifully decorated for Christmas.
The ambiance in the restaurant was calming. Our server was very personable. The steak and short rib ravioli were wonderful. We appreciated the anniversary card on our table.
Will definitely return.
Best Waffle that will cross your lips. Fresh fruit with a great flavor. Grits that are smooth and creamy. The bacon and sausage were excellent. Eggs to order. Friendly, great service. They need to fix the voucher system they use with the Resort as it is not guest friendly. Truly awesome Brunch! Great for a Staycation or Sunday Funday.
Profoundly disappointed. We have been meeting friends from Raleigh here for years at Christmas time for the Sunday lunch buffet. I made the reservations early in November, but was not told that the restaurant had stopped offering the buffet. We found about it when we arrived, too late to change our plans. The food was ok, but not at all what we had grown to expect. We will tell everyone about the lack of notice about the buffet change and we will not return. I will contact the restaurant about a refund. Incidentally, the dining room was almost completely empty, contrasting to full and overflowing into the bar area when the buffet was in operation. I have no respect for a business establishment which does not fully inform a customer of a change of this magnitude.
Greensboro residents think of it as a resort restaurant and don't think of it for everyday dining. It's fine dining at a very reasonable price and we love to go there. I'm always surprised it's not very busy unless there is a big event in town when the hotel is full.
I felt like I was special guest and I had a private reservation there is no one else where we were at the climb it was beautiful the sunset was gorgeous , The people were so nice and they even took a picture for me I really appreciate it and I will be coming back
Great service, lovely venue. My companion had filet & eggs which he loved. I had the brie & asparagus omelet. Oddly, the brie was not warm and still had the rind attached. Perhaps that was intended, but I found it offputting. The rest of my meal was superb.
Let me first say that we have been to this restaurant 7-8 times - most recently for our wedding reception which was fantastic . The food is always good , creative menu wine list is ample and the hostess is very friendly and engaging . However, this time the service provided by the floor manager and waiter was at a new low level for this restaurant . The waiter didn't know the dishes and when pressed for specifics on how a dish was prepared just said - it was one of his favorite dishes in the restaurant . In addition , I asked him to decant the bottle of wine we ordered as I felt that based on the "first taste" that it could benefit from breathing . He really didn't know how to do that properly as he abruptly poured the entire bottle into the decanter forgetting to slowly retain the last few drops of sediment in the bottle . Then when he filled our glasses he caught the drop on the spout of the decanter with his finger . For a diner - this would be OK. Then at the end of the meal the floor manager came around to each table like a robot and asked if everything was "ok" ? I replied that it was not as good as usual and her response was " I hope that we can do better next time " . No question as to why it was not good - how it could be improved but just the assumption that we would be back and by some magic the restaurant would be able to do better . Amazing . This is not the way a top notch restaurant operates . The food is so much better than the service - the service used to be much better .
We booked in for a Sunday Brunch to celebrate our daughter and son in laws first anniversary. We have been many times over the years and really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. We were very disappointed to find this had been discontinued when we got there. We decided to stay and while the food was nice, they were very small portions, and quite expensive for what you got. We would not return unless they brought back the buffet. I believe a lot of people may feel the same way as there were not many diners, previously the place was packed. Very weird decision by management.
This was nothing very special. They were not clear that the 'special' Mother's Day buffet didn't start until 11, we were not given the option to attend the 'special' buffet and instead had their 'normal' offering, which was extremely sparse due to the attention being paid to the Mother's Day buffet. The servers were uninterested and provided mediocre service. I mentioned to multiple employees my concern and each shrugged their shoulders.
Love the restaurant and have been there before for brunch however this time they only reservation available was for breakfast. I took my entire family out for Mother's Day including my 92 year old grandmother. Our reservation was for 10:30, the BIG problem that no one comunícated with me at the time of my reservation was that the breakfast buffet closes at 11:00am. By the time our party 8 sat down and walked to get our breakfast there's was very little left and very cold. We left hungry and dissatisfied. We were not aware the breakfast ended at 11:00.
We had Easter brunch there. Waiter hardly ever came by our table. For $36 a person they should've had more than cold cuts, salad and pasta. Biggest rip off. In my role as host, It's never good to have to apologize that you didn't choose a better place to dine.
Was nice to bring the buffet brunch back for Easter. Great food choices and having it take place in the ballroom allowed more space for attendees which was a plus. I always enjoy my time at the Di Valletta and although it was not physically in the restaurant section of the hotel, the setup in the ballroom still provided that same ambiance.
I took a dear friend for lunch to celebrate her birthday. The bouquet I had ordered was on the table when we were seated by the big window with a lovely view of the garden.
We both had the salmon grilled as neither of us can have the "blackened" seasoning, it was delicious. We were treated to a delightful hazelnut dessert after our meal..
Our server Donna was courteous, accommodating and attentive, without being overbearing.
This restaurant is ranked #1 on my list of "go to" places.
We went to Di Valletta for brunch after spending the weekend at the Grandover for my birthday. We come down about once a year to stay and have eaten breakfast and now the brunch. The food and the service was good. They are very attentive to your needs. The pricing was not to much for our taste and we will be eating there again, even if we do not stay.
Very disappointed that they no longer serve the brunch they used to serve. Now it is a menu based brunch. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to come to our table after seating so we left and went to Village Tavern. Brunch off the menu (to narrow a brunch menu at that) is too pricey when there are better options.
Service the times we have gone is very inconsistent.
Really enjoyed our Valentiens Dinner. I ordered the ribeye medium rare and it was great around the edges but the center was tough and over cooked more so than the outside of the meat. My fiancée got the beef tip medallions which were excellent and then we had to ricotta strawberry cheesecake which was some of the best I've ever had. Slightly pricey for portions but overall a nice dining experience.
Had gone anticipating the brunch we'd enjoyed for many years--it was no longer available. Offered menu based brunch which was heavily weighted with breakfast types food which at 1:15 pm was not particularly desirable. We much preferred the variety of the previous brunch.
I made a reservation for a party of 10 and while we were pleasantly surprised to be seated early, the rest of our dining experience was extremely less than satisfactory. It took extremely long to even receive our drink orders and then we were informed that the wonderful brunch buffet has been eliminated from The Grandover dining experience. This option was the reason we drove from out of town to dine here for this occasion because the buffet has always been so grand in the past! This was a huge letdown but we chose to still give the new menu a try. I understand we had a large party but it took almost an hour to receive our food and the dining room was not busy at all. Myself and the birthday guest both ordered the Filet and Eggs and while my entrée was cooked correctly, his arrived completely raw inside. This is not something we would expect from The Grandover, and then the waitress did not take his entire entrée but instead, only took his steak off the plate and said they would continue to cook that and bring it back. Why was it so hard to just replace the whole entrée at this point? The meals were extremely small for the price and we all left still hungry. We felt like our drinks (Bloody Mary’s) were basically the size of our meal. We were extremely disappointed in the whole experience and honestly felt like we should have gone somewhere like The Village Tavern for that type of meal. I am not sure if the wait staff and main chef have changed recently or what the reason for the change in menu was but we were not in favor and most likely will not return based on this experience.
