Di Pescara Ratings and Reviews
I actually booked the reservation to Di Pescara before reading the reviews and almost changed the reservation. So glad I did not. Everything was great!! Service was perfect. Food was great! Started with grilled calamari. Very fresh and enjoyed the giardinara with it. I had the Parmesan crusted Haddock with brussel sprouts. Husband had the seafood trio. Everything came out hot and delicious!! Finished it off by sharing the delicious key lime pie. Excellent night out. Can wait to go back!
I arrived 20 minutes early, the first of my group of 5. The reservation was in my name. I was seated at a corner booth in the bar area, assured it was a quite area, as I told the host we needed to be able to talk during dinner. The other 4 apparently arrived 5 minutes later. They were seated by the same host at a table in the main dining room. I didn't know they were there, and they didn't know I was there. We couldn't see each other. It was not until 20 minutes AFTER the reservation time that we managed to get in touch with each other and I moved to the other table. It was noisier in the dining room and one of the guests was hard of hearing. At this point the host did offer to seat us in a smaller dining room, which was better. From there on, everything was fine and we received good service, but the mix-up in seating really shouldn't have happened.
One of the problems with this restaurant in the past was that the size of the menu made things very difficult for the kitchen. So, some time ago they cut back the menu offerings considerably. The only problem with this is simply that they removed several of our favorite menu items. Nevertheless, as a member of the Lettuce Entertainment Group it does present good value and the food is consistent, if not great.
We got drinks at the bar because our table was not ready at the time of our reservation. Service was very slow and not very attentive. We were never offered another refill on our drinks when seated. Long wait to take order, get check. Food was ok, not good enough to go back for, especially with less than great service.
We enjoyed our dinner (with friends) so much, back in November, that we came back to
Di Pescara to celebrate New Year's Eve. My chicken parmigiana was again excellent.
My wife liked her pistachio encrusted grouper also. My New England clam chowder
was excellent, as was the apple crostata dessert. My wife and I both enjoyed the evening.
I took my family here for New Years Eve dinner. We could hear the staff grumble about the kids which I thought was really rude, my kids are actually really well-behaved when we eat out. I would have overlooked that had the service been great after that but our server did not come by to ask how our food was. I ordered the miso-glazed Sea Bass which was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately my side of broccoli with it was cold. I would have merely mentioned it if she had asked but the server only came by at the end of the meal to ask me if I wanted another glass of wine. When we finished our meal our table was cleared like it would be at a diner after eating a $10 sandwich. Also, The host that was seating people pushed by us without so much as an excuse me. I get it, it was a busy night but we sat down at 4pm, it wasnt exactly the big rush. And besides, you dont forget your service training even on a busy night. Overall, great food, not great service.
DiPescara is a 10 minute drive from home. We’ve been wanting to go there for dinner since 10/13 when we moved to Northbrook. It was well worth the wait. The food/service were outstanding. We dined on roasted salmon and fresh scallops with mushroom risotto. Yum! Both meals were excellent. We’ll definitely return in 2018!
Waiting area was extremely cramped and noisy and was very difficult to even get to the hostess to check in. Tables were tight and felt people sitting at surrounding tables were on top of us. Food quality was very fair and I did not feel like it was a good value. Salad and dressing were watery. Paid $19+ for a chicken entree that came with no side-dish at all. Best part of dinner was peppermint ice cream dessert.
Wonderful birthday lunch made extra special because of excellent manager Johnny and his great staff. We were treated royally — thank you for a delicious meal!! Enjoyed our entrees— salmon, Caesar salad, harvest salad and oh, the hot Italian bread! We LOVED the triple birthday dessert!! Can’t wait to return for another fabulous meal. Mille Grazie, Johnny!
Always reliable, Di Pescara even gave us good service and delicious food on Christmas Eve, a night when most restaurants are closed. We were lucky to be near the end of the evening's reservations, so we had a fairly quiet table in the back room, which got even quieter as people left.
