There is a saying, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might." Dexter's, I didn't ask you to offer a $1 burger, you offered. If you want to offer a $1 burger, do it with all your might. Don't give me a stale bun and a dry burger. Shrink the size, but not the quality. ...And the 50 cent bacon topping shouldn't be burnt.
I’ve dined at Dexters several times and it’s always been a decent experience. On this particular night the live band was playing therefore the attempt to talk to my date was a bit difficult but what should I expect with a live band. The one thing I like was being asked by the manager and others how was how our food, our drinks , did we enjoy everything and so forth. The Cordero’s seemed genuine and I’m glad the employees value customer service.
Many thanks to the manager that stepped in and sat the 4 of us where the Birthday Girl preferred. You made our night!
Food was good, but the service was great. Our server really made the experience. Food wasn’t perfect but her recovery was amazing. Would recommend
Too dad-gum noisy.
We ordered 2 different Mimosas and they came out incorrect (we drank them anyway) and the wine glass that was delivered had someone else's lipstick on the rim...Gross... Other than that, the food was delicious.
We were there for Graduation lunch celebration. Everyone enjoyed their food. We were happy that it was fairly quiet as there was no live music playing while there and could hear everyone in our party of eight. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive.
it was alright. just wish it was more quiet but the service was great and the food was tasty
Great service & food!! We were there to celebrate my mother-in-law 88th birthday and enjoyed it very much!!
We went to go see the band. ECR. They were amazing. Such a great time.
They did not have a table ready for us and made us wait 20 minutes for it.
Had reservation for early dinner and stayed to hear the great band Soul Funktion which often plays on Thursday night. Fun spot to people watch and to dance with or without a partner. Friendly staff and crowd.
I had enjoyed Dexter's in the past and so thought it be a good place for business meal because of all the choices in the menu.
It was a Monday night. The place was practically empty and they pushed us against the back wall and into the corner. I don't know why we were not given a nice table with some open space. No one was there except at the bar. I felt like we were being punished when we were actually providing them business.
The meal I ordered was to be mahi on coconut rice with plantains with rum sauce.
I received a perfectly square piece of fish (too obviously frozen and prefab) with jam and on top of yellow rice (I guess they didn't want to make two types of rice on a Monday), but the saffron rice did not go with the dish --assume leftover yellow rice from the cuban sandwich station (it wasn't even fresh). But the oddest part of the dish was that the plaintains looked like churros. They were whole and rolled in cinnamon sugar. Literally, crunchy cinnamon sugar coating not the caramalized type of coating ala maduros. It was very odd. Funnily enough, this was on the featured menu. You'd think they would go to the trouble to make sure it had the rice that went with the dish. I didn't say anything as it was a business dinner and it was so obviously wrong. I actually felt betrayed because have had good experiences in the past. I was embarrassed that I suggested the place.
My disappointment is the seating arrangement and food. Our waiter was personable and did a good job, which probably saved it overall for my co-workers.
The food was great , but we waited a little over two hours for our food and we made a reservation for a table for 10 and had 30 minutes for a table we reserved.
One of our favorite bands, The Redcoats, played this night and was one of the many reasons we made reservations for dinner as well. Dexter's is a great neighborhood spot as it always has incredible food, drinks, music and atmosphere. We come here often because we know it will be a great time and we always leave happy!
Seven of us that have worked together for 40 years got together for a little reunion here and it was perfect! The ambience was great, the service was great, and the food was delicious. It was quiet enough that we could have a normal conversation even though there was lots of people having a late lunch there. We all loved i The ambience was great, the service was great, and the food was delicious. We all love the experience and will hopefully be able to meet there again soon.
Group of 7 family members getting together for dinner after having met at memorial service the same morning. One person ordered the fish special of the day but received the wrong dish. It took 50 minutes before he got his meal! Needless to say the rest had completed their meal in the meantime. We had no time for desserts due to the delay as we had to rush two of the people to the airport, one of them the unlucky customer. Average quality of food varied. Two of us had the same Mediterranean pasta, one swam in olive oil and the other was okay. Will never eat there again!
Our waiter was fantastic! We enjoyed the whole experience
Great food, great service, fun, great music! Bartenders were fast and great to talk to. All around great time. I will come back and bring friends.
Food was good very different range of food. Took a while for the food to come out and was a little warm but not hot. Would definitely go back and try different options on the menu.
It was nice
I took my adult son to Dexter's for dinner and a Paint Nite event.Food was very good (We had the Dexter's Burger w/Cheese).Our server was very nice friendly and helpful. I wish that I had chosen a night with live music. That would have been nice while painting! We'll definitely be back soon.
We had Dillon as our server and he was wonderful! This was a nice get together with my son and some friends on a Sunday afternoon. Food was on point and the pineapple mimosas were great!
My friend and I returned to this cozy neighborhood restaurant and embraced another Dexter’s experience. Attentive, friendly service, fresh food prepared with unique ingredients! I had the lamb sliders with Chef Dave’s slaw...excellent! My friend had the tortilla pie. We both were pleased with our selections. Dexter (yes, the real Dexter)came by our table to welcome us and check on how our meal was. Wine selections offered variety and depth.
I thought that Dexter's was a great place to eat. I loved the atmosphere with the live band. The waitress was tentative throughout the meal.
Not a good restaurant. Ordered salmon salad, salmon was black (burnt) on one side, dark brown on the other. Waitress had another piece prepared, the fillet came out looking like tuna fish, the ends were flaked and falling apart, not cooked well at all - the waitress said “This is what I got”. A truly dismal dining experience.
We have dined at Dexter's several locations for many years and have always enjoyed it. Only a couple of mistakes in over 25 years of regular dining at Dexter's.
3 of our group ordered the Fish and Chips. Horrible. Greasy and mushy. I should have gone with another dish. Very disappointing.
My dining guest and I had a great experience at Dexters. The host was welcoming, the server was knowledgeable and professional, and the food was cooked to perfection.
Great food. Friendly service. Neighborhood gem. Definitely going to visit again.
Outstanding experience. Hosted 20 people for a birthday party and it was fantastic. Live music, dancing, food, and drinks. Wonderful.
Great server- Michael!
Everything was wonderful except for the time it took for our food to arrive. We were there on a work day but perhaps they didn't think we were on a time constraint. It took over 20 mins from the time we placed our order for our food to arrive and they were not busy at 1:30 pm. Just make sure you have time to enjoy the meal. If you're on an hour work lunch, go somewhere else that can provide faster service.
I have a good time.
Great variety of well prepared menu options. Nice atmosphere with available artwork on the walls for sale. Located in newly developed Hannibal Square a few blocks off Park Ave.
The Garlic Fries have a bit more garlic than I personally prefer and I will substitute a salad for them on the next trip. Will definitely return.
Outstanding meal here - we were well taken care of and food was great. We will return!
It is was a birthday
Even though we made early reservations, our seats were HORRIBLE. It was in a corner near a register and a stack of baby chairs. If I went there again I would make sure not to have the same seats. If I were Dexter's I'd give up those few extra seats.
The service was very good and some food was better than others. I used to go to Dexter's' a lot, we even named our dog Dexter. I need to go back again and give it another chance.
