Nice spot, drinks were good food was good.
VERY LONG wait for food
Went here on a Saturday night before a college game. Waited 30 minutes to get drinks, including water for my kids, then a hour for our food. You could see it coming.... food came out cold and also didn't get our order correct.. Been here for happy hour, great place for drinks but rethink if you are going to sit for a meal with a game at the garden. Place was not overly crowded at the time.
Had dinner with friends the other night. We had the artichoke and spinach dip to start (a pretty generous portion). The fried chicken sandwich was a little dry but the salmon and burger was good. They ddin't have much in the way of dessert on the menu.
The place was pretty drafty but we were able to move to a booth that was more comfortable. Our waiter was new and I think he was covering a lot of tables. Although it was a bar the noise level in the back was low enough that we could easily carry on a conversation.
There are places I like more in Chelsea/Flatiron, but I would go back for a drink or a snack.
I made the reservation 24 hours before, I arrived promptly and they did not have my table ... they were with a baseball fan event..very bad! we went to another place better and well attended, I do not go back
Sorry to say that our food was served cold.
The sever was not easily located to rectify.
Noise level is very high even for a busy pub.
There's potential for this pub but the coordination between the front of the house
and the kitchen needs major improvement.
Salmon dish was good and so was the pretzel appetizer but service was horrible.
Great pub in NYC with awesome food!
Pretty dead at noon on Sunday (even with football on). Cool looking pub, but average “pub” grub as expected.
Waitress was bad about checking in on us so we would be without a drink for 15-20 minutes. Otherwise, food was excellent!
Met up with friends & relatives for the Va Tech football game. Great crowd, good time had by all!
Was looking for a quick meal before a concert at MSG and found Dewey's w/available reservations on Open Table on the way into Manhattan. Have been to many pubs in the area, but never Dewey's. First impression was loud and packed...maybe a good thing, but no hostess at hostess station near front door. She found us quickly, though...the reservation had taken a while to hit their system...it arrived about the same time we did as we'd only made it about 40 minutes prior. We were then seated immediately and our server was great...very attentive in spite of crowd. Food was pretty good...we didn't order anything too ambitious...typical pub menu with some interesting appetizers on it. Good beer selection both on menu and rotating taps. Plenty of well-placed TVs...probably a good place to watch a game. The music was awful, however. Some unidentifiable electro-pop garbage played far too loud, probably to try to attract a younger crowd. Meh. Fine for a club, not for a pub. Nonetheless, mission accomplished...fast meal, a couple of pints, happy hour discounts and discount for having tix to an MSG event that night applied. Would definitely return for a pre-game or pre-show meal...or maybe even a beer or two at the bar at a quieter time.
BC football game
For a pub it was odd that they were “out of” many of the beers that were on the menu (I.e no Stella and no yuengling). Waitress convinced me to try a micro beer which I didn’t like (it was too flowery) and she wouldn’t take it back. She took 1/2 the kids orders and never took the rest..... The menu listed the ingredients for a chopped salad and did not state the salad had bacon (we had a vegetarian). no wonder it was so easy to get a big reservation (14) before a show at MSG! I DO NOT recommend it!
Service was unbelievably slow and rude
Was there for over an hour abs out appetizers never came out...we were on a time frame to get to a concert
Fun, environment, good happy hour, wonderful servers, tends to get very loud. Goodnoutside space for watching the folks go by!
Dewey's was a fun time. Had better fare than regular bar food -- DEFINITELY recommend the chicken and waffles, omg so good. The fish and chips? Not so much, so food seems hit or miss. The service was a little slow, but the waitress made up for it with a great attitude and service with a smile. Fun atmosphere for drinks and watching the game.
We went to watch the World Cup finals and had made reservations. We were seated right away and ordered drinks and water. It took 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive - no water ever came. We waited for 40 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our food order - even tracking her down twice to no avail. They had a group there holding a fundraiser and were terribly understaffed. We are always sympathetic to overworked wait staff but if they knew they had a large group coming in they should have planned accordingly. We ended up leaving with no food and them trying to charge us for an extra drink.
This was our second time at Dewey's. We had dined there six months ago prior to a Billy Joel concert. Incredibly, our waitress Ana remembered us! Her service was impeccable and the food was great!
So, I like Dewey's...I come here when I'm in the area and before MSG events. The issue seems to be the management...they don't properly staff up on waitstaff.
We went the other night and there was one waitress despite a happy hour offer, a full patio and multiple tables inside full, likely because of a U2 concert around the corner at MSG. (Irish band, Irish pub, hello, hello!?!) And they had to know, because they played U2 music only while we were there. (Awesome!) The kitchen was a little slow too, but not too bad. In the past, we had to cancel our food to make a show. We tried it again because it's a nice comfortable place with good food and so convenient to MSG that you can get another pint in and run over to your show/game.
Our waitress was a sweetheart and was grace under A LOT of pressure.
Staff inflexible and not paying attention to the few people in the bar.
Very lovely staff. Everyone was just lovely. Great drinks and drink specials. Apps, burgers, and wraps were delicious. Fries were plentiful and much appreciated. Weather was nice enough to sit outside. Bonus, bathrooms inside are plentiful and very tidy.
grabbed some old coworkers for an unexpected happy hour. happy hour specials were great for beer (wine not so much), but food was really good and service was excellent.
can't wait to go back
We made a reservation on open table and when we got there we were told it was a private party but we can sit at the bar. Ordered one drink and didn’t see bartender again for 15-20 mins. Disappointed.
I made reservations ahead of time since it was mid afternoon on A Saturday Once I got there we were told that we were not able to eat in the dining area since there was a private party We had a choice to eat at the bar or outside We chose outside but we had to order from the bar The bartender acted as if she couldn’t be bothered and seemed annoyed that we were ordering My husband ordered his salad with dressing on the side His order came with the dressing already in the salad My friend ordered a burger medium Her burger came out raw We had one person who brought our order to the table but never saw him again until it was time to pay the bill Needless to say I’d never go back again
Friday night was very energetic. They had great happy hour prices. The food was very good - but service was a little slow- probably due to the volume. Would go to Dewey’s again!
Quick service and fine food. Tvs volume was extremely load even though there were few patrons.
Good decision for a bite between basketball games at big ten basketball tournament
First time here. Our waitress, Alyssa was absolutely fabulous. I had a hamburger which ranks up there with the very good ones you get a steak house. My associate had a weird combination of waffles and chicken. He loved it, and ate every bite. Very quiet at lunch time. I recommend it for a business lunch that will not break the bank.
Mariah did great job as our server.
Great pub food. Wine selection is very limited.
I was there with a group of 7. My daughter ordered the shredded pork dish and was Very disappointed with the dish! The pork was not shredded! It was large cubes of pork and large cubs of fat! It was disgusting! We told the waitress and she asked my daughter if she wanted something else but she said no because we didn't have time since we were going to a concert at the Garden. The waitress did not include the pulled pork dish on our bill. The other 6 orders were fine. Too loud.
This is a decent place for the neighborhood, which really doesn't have enough dining spots within walking distance of the Garden. Pretty much what you'd expect from an Irish pub. Portions aren't expensive but also not particularly large. Nice for lunch.
Great spot for a burger or wrap before a MSG event.
the food is always outstanding but takes too long to get never enough kitchen help
frustrating as we enjoy it
Bad waitress service. Rude.
My fault, but I️ was expecting more of a old pub feel, not a hotel bar. Food was fine, drinks were a little watered down.
Five of us dined here before a Ranger game. It was convenient to MSG, relatively reasonably priced and had a good menu for a variety of eaters. Good beer choices on the rotating draught beer collection that had three of us choosing the vanilla porter that was excellent. For apps we had the exceptionally good short rib sliders and very good w.ings. For mains, their were two fish and chips that were passable - disappointment with the chicken nugget style batter, one excellent burger, one good salad, I believe Cobb and for the impossible picky eater, chicken tenders. Overall a good meal - recommended
Great beer selection. Good menu variety. Our terrific waitress had spot on recommendations. Easy access to the Marriott hotel. Would dine here again.
A great place for a drink and pub food before an event at Madison Square Garden. Service was prompt and professional, and the food was fresh and delicious. We we able to relax and enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace, and had a very pleasant time. Highly recommended.
