As usual very nice. The crab cakes were yummy but the Firecracker Cauliflower was phenomenal! Always on my go to list!
Food was very good, but would like more than 1 biscuit at a time.
Earl was our server and he just made my husband birthday / Anniversary even more special. When we come back I’m definitely asking for him.
I was looking for a good restaurant within walking distance of our hotel (The Logan). I found the Devon Seafood Grill on the internet and the location on Rittenhouse Square was an easy walk. It turned out to be the perfect choice. I had scallops while my wife had the trout. Both dishes were excellent and the service was exceptional. I will go again the next time we stay in Philadelphia.
Food was very underwhelming if it wasnt the fish. All sides seemed like theyd been reheated more than once. They forgot to bring us a seasonal side and then when we requested it, upcharged us for an additional side. Go spend your money at a local hipster joint in fishtown and I guarantee you'll get fresher food at half the price.
Great place to eat! Seafood was on point! Crab cakes and lobster Mac and cheese was splendid!
Overall we had a nice time. Although there were some things I did not care for:
I made a reservation and was seated at a high top table that was cramped in the corner of the bar. I don't think a reservation in advance deserves a high top table at the bar. Was very disappointed with that. We were there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, which I mentioned when reserving and we were not treated specially at all, not even an acknowledgement about his birthday. The creme brulee was served very cold with barley any sugar on it.
This was our 3rd trip to this restaurant while visiting the flower show. The bar couldn't get a Cosmo right. The worse part was the waiter's attitude. The last straw was when he rolled his eyes. Also wouldn't split the check. That was supposedly a corporate decision. I'll withhold the name of the guilty waiter to protect the guilty. The place was very accommodating last year when we had a party of eight. Will be looking for new place if we return again next year.
Michelle was our waitress and she was wonderful! She made the dinner outstanding.
The food is exceptional, the service was outstanding, and the ambience was great. Yes I would recommend!
We were staying at Rittenhouse Square so I did a thorough look at Open Table for recommendations. Devon Grill was highly recommended but our experience proved to be quite bad. The night was slow because of a storm, not many people in attendance at 6 PM. We let the waiter select our glass of wine as each of us gave our preference. He did well and we enjoyed the large 9 oz. pour. Oysters on the half shell were great. Opened properly, no grit, separated from the shell, and the accompaniments were spot on. It was all down hill from there. My clam chowder tasted as if it had spent too many hours on the steam table and quite salty. We ordered crab cakes with a special slaw (extra charge). The crab cakes were a little more cold than room temperature, very salty, too much Old Bay, and another objectionable taste I could not identify. Reheating would not have helped at all. The slaw was inedible and way over salted. The shrimp tacos were fair at best. We did not complain, ate little of the meal, paid up and left. Very disappointing.
The lobster Cobb salad was a dream and so were the several mojitos I drank with it
I love the food. The price was really good, and the service was excellent,
Always excellent for lunch with comfortable spaced tables, good service and food selection and very reasonably priced three course meals for $21
We enjoyed our dinner but the noise level was such that a conversation was practically impossible. Bartender could not make the drink I requested and waiter discouraged my husband from ordering entrée he wanted. He ordered it anyway and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The food and service were excellent. It was a little loud. I was disappointed that they did not have the only wine I drink in stock.
Food was great. Server (Isaac) was knowledgeable, polite, very good at describing each dish and kept an eye out for us. This was our 4th or 5th time at Devon and we plan on returning.
Food and service were good but it was disappointing to be offered a table very near the kitchen after I wrote "quiet as possible" when I booked the table. Hostess agreed to move us but awe shouldn't have had to ask. Restaurant was seriously overheated.
Two things that need to be improved;
1) hosting staff is not friendly at all.
2) raw oysters were no shucked properly. They should slid out with no effort. They were all still attached.
Other than that it was great! I would still recommend Devon seafood.
Had reservations and seated immediately—good.
After being seated, waited several minutes for server just to get water. Because we were waiting so long, I decided to ask hostess, who was walking by, to get our server so we could at least get drinks. Just as I was asking her, the server came to our table and the hostess looked at us as if we were being ridiculous for requesting.
Had something floating in my water; thankfully our server replaced it immediately.
Food was mediocre at best.
Bathrooms were not the cleanest and neither was the floor in the dining area.
Our server, Rochelle, made the dining experience a bit better as she was very pleasant and professional.
I expected a lot more for the money being paid and for a restaurant in Rittenhouse Square.
We will not be returning here.
Our first visit! Quite pleased with our fish entrees. Salads were yummy. Great wine list. Our server, Earl, was friendly and professional.
Fppd was cold aent back twice ,Wait services was terrible he was very rude .
Fish was over cooked & tasteless.
Unacceptable for a Seafood restaurant
This was my wife and I first time at this establishment. We had reservations (recommended) and were seated immediately. Our server was Jas and he was very knowledgeable of the menu and was very helpful with suggestions. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the seafood medley. The food was incredible. The portions were perfect. The price is below average for the area and quality of food. Expect to spend $100 for a couple.
Always an excellent meal with outstanding service!
Thank you to Dante for the wonderful service. Our evening and food was nice.
I always have a great experience here and am a true fan of Devon. The seafood is fresh, their menu offers the perfect amount of diversity, and the service is consistently pleasant. The servers have a special way of allowing you to feel completely comfortable and entice you to stay awhile. I love their happy hour offerings as well as the incomparable people watching that can be done from their floor to ceiling windows facing Rittenhouse Square. For me, Devon is a classic Philadelphia staple. I never turn down a meal at Devon.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinning experience. The food was well prepared and delicious. Our meal was only enhanced by the superb service provided by our very attentive waiter, Issac. He provided great advice, was confident in his knowledge of the menu and suggested well matched wines.
Have to say this is one of our favorites.
Try the Boulliabase and any of the grilled fresh fish.
My husband and I are in our 70s and Devon is our favorite “ date” restaurant. It is quiet, we can hear each other. It is spacious and affordable
Food was excellent, wait staff very proffessional.
I am always satisfied when dinning at Devon's Seafood Grill.
Even with our reservation, we weren't seated for an hour. Bartenders are (and always have been) so slow. Food is mediocre. They cater to the suburb crowd and out of towners. Our table and seats were wiped down but left soaking wet. We had to wipe them down ourselves. We were missing plates for people at our table. The meat on the charcuterie board was like Shop Rite deli meat.
Very nice late lunch in the bar. Service a bit disorganized at the end.
My friend and I were very sick after eating at your restaurant. We will not be returning.
I had New England clam chowder, 1st. It was pretty spicy, that I was not expecting. Also had bacon and again, I'm used to chowder without this. The salmon was very good as was the dessert - apple turnover with ice cream, served warm. Waiter refilled my dining partners iced tea, but not mine.
I have been dining at Devon's for about 15 years and never had a bad experience.
Happy hour at bar was noisy but good. Service was good
Something is going drastically wrong in the restaurant portion of Devon. Terrible service, awful seafood (dried out Salmon, overcooked scallops, luke warm Lobster Bisque, massive amounts of breading in crab cake) and absolutely repulsive bathrooms in terms of cleanliness. Even the coffee was undrinkable (as our waitress accurately warned us!) Watched one waiter storm out the front door with a manager chasing him. Our server was definitely on edge with a short fuse. After accusing our entire table of lying to her she personally recovered and made gestures to make it right. Will never go back. Management fail. If not for the bar being right on Rittenhouse Square supporting this place it would absolutely be out of business.
Best lobster I have had in a restaurant in years. We arrived at 4:30 on a Sunday and got the last 4. I would have been very disappointed if there were no lobsters.
Our4 server, Autumn was very nice and helpful.
Been a customer many times for many occasion and I’m always satisfied.
My girlfriend ENJOYED herself! Great food friendly staff as well as having good knowledge of menu. Definatley deserves a second trip!
