Took forever to order and get silverware.
We dined at Devon for my daughter's birthday. She loves seafood, so I thought this would be a great place as I have been here once before and remember it being very good. I was a little disappointed in the presentation of the food this time. My food arrived on one half of my plate and the other plates were nothing special to look at. The food tasted good expect for the "whipped" potatoes. They were very bland. I would call them mashed as whipped to me means no lumps and these had lumps. Our server was very nice and accommodating. They did bring out a piece of carrot cake to celebrate my daughter's birthday even though we didn't order dessert.
We had an 8:00 PM res. I dropped off my wife and she was seated at our table. During this time I proceeded to park my car. After 20 minutes of trying to locate the Valet Parking people i finally found a “valet”. At that point I was told I needed to pay Cash “Right Away!”
Do people carry cash anymore? I do, but I’m sure a lot of people don’t. Hint to OPEN TABLE perhaps you might want to think about letting people know that if you’re going to patronize this restaurant you might just want to WALK there.
So after all the BS of parking my car, I was finally able to get to the restaurant.
The good thing is, when I sat down my server was most welcoming which i really needed at this point. Our server was a far cry from the “matronly woman” at the reception area. Not sure whom she was but she was certainly not nice!
Anyway, enough of the emotional, the FOOD was great from start to finish. The ambiance was a bit noisy but still a lot of fun. There was one great server (male) who was most comical and for me that’s great.
So would I recommend The Devon Seafood Grill ? Absolutely. The food is so worth all the BS you’d go through to get there. But do yourself a favor Take a Cab or Uber/Lyft (if that blows your dress up) and if you can bypass the angry woman at the “Front Desk” then you will be in good hands after that.
And just FYI the Seafood Mix Grill is phenom.
THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL.
Food was great! Service was good but noise level was high! Sat in a booth and we had to yell at one another!
Food was good not great. Liked the overall experience didn't love it
Our waitress was fantastic !
Heard we were celebrating my husbands bday, quickly came over with a treat and sang happy birthday!!
Nice Saturday afternoon.
Great place, good service, very good food! I would come back here again for sure!
Great time celebrating our daughter's birthday. Love the areas to the side of the restaurant with round tables for a group which feel somewhat private. Fun food- lots of appetizers- the featured cocktails were good but both my son and I ordered drinks not on the featured list and both of those drinks were just fair. Food is very good and our waitress, Brooke, was just terrific! She was very attentive and made the evening more fun with thoughtful gestures. I highly recommend Devon.
I love this place! The crab cakes, asparagus and mash potatoes are my favorite. They also have a great cocktail menu! The atmosphere is always relaxed. The servers are always on point and delightful. I always highly recommend this place.
Filet was cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Before our order, a biscket was served. But I am disappointed at no served bread after that.
I've been dining at Devon' s for over 10 years. I'm happy to say that it is the same, consistent service and food as my first visit. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is inviting.
Our server was exceptional as he continually checked in with us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. He was absolutely delightful.
I will continue to visit Devon's as often as I can. Love them!!
The food was wonderful, as always, as was the service. My only comment relates to the fact that this lunch was for my nephew’s birthday, which was noted on the reservation. However, there was no acknowledgement of the occasion during our visit.
EXCELLENT - - THE HOSTESS, THE SERVICE AND THE FOOD! GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! WE'LL BE BACK!
Nice atmosphere, the food prep and taste was good but the portions for the cost could have been better.
As usual, terrific! Why do I have to type a minimum of 50 characters for this review?
This was the first time my wife and I dined at Devon Seafood Grill. We were going to see On Your Feet so we parked close to the Academy of Music on South Broad Street and walked the 4 blocks west on Locust to the restaurant in 10-12 minutes. It was a warm evening and the restaurant had its large windows along the street fully open. We were seated inside, but had a nice view of blooming trees in Rittenhouse Square. To start I had an Eastsider which I learned is an excellent warm weather cocktail made with Hendricks Gin (my favorite gin). As we had a time constraint we unfortunately had to skip the starters. My wife had crab cakes which were the best ever, except for the ones she prepares from crabs we catch in the Chesapeake Bay. I had the grilled Alaskan halibut which was delicious. Our waiter, Conner, was attentive and ensured we were finished in time for a relaxing walk to the theater. Overall, a wonderful experience. We will return the next time we have reason to be back in central Philadelphia (a 40 mile trip from New Hope for us) or maybe we will just fabricate a reason.
Dinner: my wife had the Crabcakes very good as usual. I would recommend.
I had the special of Red Snapper, the Snapper was on the dry side. No, I wouldn’t recommend.
Very pleasant atmosphere,
But service was a bit slow.
Staff overwhelmed, bathrooms were deplorable, 2 1/2 hours for lunch. If it was not for the server we would have walked out.
When asking the manager what the problem was and advising the bathroom conditions, her response was, "we are very busy". That's professional....
Ordered special deserts for the occasion two days before, these were never advised to the server. Aother long wait.
Very disappointed in Devon!
Waited almost 20 minutes after being seated for the waitress to come over and greet us, as other tables in our vicinity (with a different, more alert waitress) were greeted and ordered immediately. After finally ordering, the food took EXTREMELY LONG! Only for all my seafood to be severely undercooked and the meal not even hot. My shrimps and scallops were 30 seconds from RAW! Sent it back, and the remake was no better. WHY?! Wasn't like out was super busy or something. The manager was kind enough to remove the meal from the bill but very disappointed with the experience!
Food is always good here. Great spot on Rittenhouse Square . Enjoyed the scenic view!
Caesar was great. Food too. Was a great experience for my wife’s birthday
As always the food was terrific. I had the Chefs Special which was Scallops and Lobster Rizzoli.
What made it even more pleasurable was our server Dante. Just excellent.
My wife and I don't get to Philadelphia as often as we'd like, but when we do we like to have dinner at Devon Seafood Grill. In center city, this place is a go-to for fish and shellfish - fresh, simply prepared, excellent quality. The service is friendly. The atmosphere is nice- calm, but not stuffy. The wine list has some personal favorites. We have professional chefs in our family and have been treated to excellent meals in many places, but the Devon is among our favorites for a quiet meal at the end of a busy day.
First trip, and it was all good! Staff professional and genuinely interested in accommodating. Great menu and food was terrific. Window seat fabulous on first warm day of the year.
Great ! He food was really good and the service is great !
A group of ladies from my workplace went out to Devon to me a former coworker. The food was delicious, the service was quick and the server very knowledgeable and friendly :)
Great range of seafood options. Gumbo was a terrific choice for a starter. Overall sense was a selection of solid but not special entrees.
Host Amber! Was extremely pleasant and our waiter Steven was so informed and efficient.
Wanted to treat my children to lunch!
Salmon salad is fantastic!
I love Devon!! Crab cakes are delicious as is the carrot cake. Next time I’ll ask for the syrup/sauce that comes under the carrot cake to be omitted. It makes the cake soggy, almost as though it had been frozen prior to serving.
Second time we ate at Devon's and it is one of our favorites.
Devon delivers once again a relaxing excellent meal and dining venue. The wine list is a bit pricey but the experience makes up for it. Excellent lobster cobb salad and bisque!
It was to much noise. You couldn't hear the other person talk. We fell that you did not get enough food for the $. Very over priced and didn't even get drinks. And had a 25.00 off coupon.
Food was great, service was outstanding. Caesar was our waiter.
We had a 730 reservation. We checked in at that time. I asked the hostess if we had time for a drink at the bar for 15 minutes. She said yes that was fine. By the time we closed out our bill at the bar I arrived to the hostess stand 10 minutes past the 15 minutes. When we got there she told me she had to give our table away. We were not seated for another 45 minutes. I asked her if our table was ready and we were in jeopardy of losing it, why didn’t she come get us at the bar? She just shrugged and didn’t offer any explanation. When we were finally seated I mentioned it to the woman seating us. She said “well that was the manager”. I explained that I thought she did a poor job, regardless if she was a manager. She shrugged, asked for our name, and that was it. Just disappointed in the poor customer service.
Friendly staff and decent center city option. Either get a booth or a window seat
Always pleased with the decor, food and service at Devon. A favorite.
