Devon Seafood Grill - Philadelphia
The best seafood in the area and Rita, our server was well versed with the menu. Will be returning again!
Restrooms were disgusting; food quality was low average but the service was very good
From the beginning to the end the evening I had was amazing. Thanks
After being seated no one serviced me for 15 minutes
Other wise great job
Service was excellent. There were many good choices including special 3 course lunches. We both had excellent salmon.
I was treated with great care! The waitress was awesome!
Sad at this experience because we have had a good experience before at this restaurant. The biggest problem was the service, which became non-existent. At one point, I had to get up and flag a different server down for help and then at one point, after sitting with empty drink glasses for 10+ minutes after our meal was delivered to our table, when our server visited a different table and neglected to even glance our way to see how we were doing or if we had even received the correct order, I had to yell across the restaurant to get her attention to signal that we needed something to drink. When she brought us a refill, she still did not even ask if our order was correct or if it was good. Had she asked I would have let her know that the mashed potatoes that came as a side came out lukewarm at best. Eating cold mashed potatoes, not especially tasty. The other disappointing point about this visit was how stingy the restaurant was with the signature biscuits and butter/syrup. We had to ask three servers, yes three including our own, if we could have a biscuit while we waited for our meal/enjoyed an appetizer. When we asked our server first, she snapped "they will be brought out." Well they weren't until I asked three servers, the third of which went and had the guy bring us one each for our table. You would have then thought we had done something dreadful when we asked for a second biscuit. I have never felt so unwelcome and unwanted eating a meal. Sad because this had been one of our favorite restaurants. After this experience, we will probably not return.
Worth the price 100%.
Overall, a very nice restaurant. Main complaints were that the service was slow and that my Cioppino had 3 clams and 2 were not open. This should not have come out of the kitchen. The waiter kindly resolved by delivering a complete order of steamed clams and 2 free desserts!
I would visit again.
Great service and great food. Lobster mac n cheese was to die for.
Devon is a favorite in the City that sits at a great location on Rittenhouse Square. The food is always good and the service is excellent.
Great experience all around
There were 5 of us in our party. Everyone enjoyed their meal and were happy with the service.
Small portions- tasteless food. Nice ambience, and service but it seemed really expensive for a really blah meal.
Don’t understand why it was rated so highly- maybe it’s a tourist spot.
It was great
Excellent and flavorful fish dishes and the tuna poke bowl appetizer was great. A bit on the high price end though $110 for 2.
It’s always a great time at Devon’s, the food is absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any one who is looking for a fine dining experience.
Probably the best seafood I've had in Philly-- I love seafood, and have had seafood at several different restaurants. Nice portion sizes, Great mixed drinks. Really nice ambience-- Very fitting for a date, or even girls/boys night out. Will return!
Great Meal, great server and great company make for a great night!
Came for our anniversary and specified through open table that it was our anniversary. Neither the hosts or waitress acknowledged that it was a special night for us. Obviously not why I’m writing this review, but just thought it was odd that through open table we are giving the restaurant this info and they do nothing with it. I’ve been to plenty of other restaurants where they send out a nice desert with “happy anniversary” on the plate or a rose on the table. Again, just disappointed.
This was my first time at Devon seafood. I have the habit of always ordering seared tuna if it is on the menu because I love tuna. The ahi tuna was on the menu with a little symbol next to it specifying that it was a popular item. I told the waitress I was thinking about
Food was great! We had a tapas type of feeling for the night so we went with an assortment of appetizers. The calamari was good, crab cakes were great, the shrimp ceviche was good but OmG the shrimp tacos and spring rolls were phenomenal. Also the portion of the kids meal for our toddler was great for the price. To top it off the carrot cake was by far the best we have ever had!! The pineapple martinis did the job and our waitress RITA was awesome!!!!
Made reservations 6 days ago. We were still seated in the bar area. It was cold and noisy. Disappointing. Food was average. I have eaten at Devon’s before and thought it was very good. Maybe they just had an off night j
Excellent food, service was good. I would definitely recommend.
Hopefully the manager reads this. This WAS a great dinner the Last time I was here but tonight everything failed. Hostess was great offered 2 different places to sit which was nice and the place was pretty busy. Busy should not result in poor service or food. Both happened. Ordered a Ribeye and a Lobster and Filet. 45 minutes later everything but lobster arrived cold and server said we didn’t order lobster. Wasn’t waiting again. Steak was barely cooked. Disappointing considering our past visit was outstanding. Bad enough we won’t return. Step up your game Devon.
Service good, food was okay, place extremely loud. Not sure I would go again.
The Cioppino is fantastic! I keep coming back to have it. The noise was unbearable.
This place is fantastic! Christina our server was great! We loved the crabcakes and the steak (for a seafood place) was to die for! An inexpensive bottle of wine and dinner for three (with no dessert) was about $250, so it's a bit pricey, but worth it for special occasions!
Saw mice running in the dining area
our server was excellent. Really pleasant and accommodating. Didn't hang over us but made sure he was at our table when we needed him. He is a gem.
Our server was named John and he was a terrible waiter. We didn’t get fresh pepper for lobster bisque, order rose didn’t offer to put it on ice had to ask, and he barely checked on us. I love Devon’s and I don’t think this is a reflection on the place but I was saddened by the service during my visit.
The thing this day air conditioner was not working where they seat us at that's all. Everything else was wonderful.
Excellent dinner for both me and my date. Delicious and well priced. Little noisy, but not so much as we couldn't talk across the table.
Also our table rocked all night. Server was aware and said it was a loose table top (not uneven legs) so she couldn’t do anything about it. Drinks spilled everywhere all night.
We loved the food but, there was no air conditioning and service was a bit slow.
Sloppy and inattentive. Apps came out with entree. My wife wasn’t given a fork. Oysters didn’t come with an oyster fork or a plate. Food was very good. Waitress was pleasant. Just seems like management doesn’t emphasize the entire staff working together.
Air conditioning was not working. We ordered a 100 dollar bottle of champagne that was served tepid. Not cold. The waiter was nice enough but clearly stretched too thin. We ordered the seafood platter. Shrimp and oysters were excellent the crab legs crab and lobster tails tasted more than day old Didn’t get small forks or claw crackers and couldn’t find anyone to help. Had to help ourselves to champagne several times as no one was around to pour. We have been here before and it appears that the restaurant is in very serious decline. My wife’s entree arrived and mine came 10 minutes later without the glass of wine I ordered to accompany it So dissapointed we left without having additional wine dessert or coffee. Very disappointed !
The restaurant was SO hot. We were all sweating at the table, kind of ruined the experience.
I have been to Devon Seafood Grill many times before and had a great experience, but this time was much different. i had a reservation during restaurant week and it would the first time that I would take my family there. We were seated near the bar which lended to a more busy and frenetic experience. It was very noisy and the servers all seemed to gather there. Our food was very slow to come to the table, particularly the bread which is usually served first was brought out towards the end of the meal. My daughter ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese and the server completely forgot this ( he admitted this). I am not sure why the quality of the service/food was not what I had experienced in the past, but I will not be likely to return.
Although the food was good; the waitress we had spoke to low, wasn't attentive and didn't give eye contact. There was another waitress that took up the slack for her and she made the time there enjoyable. Sorry can't remember names. Maybe I should try to come back when it's not restaurant week.
