Devon Seafood + Steak - Hershey Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation for a Saturday night for a group of 5 for my mom's 70th birthday. I arrived early and they sat me immediately. They had marked the table with a happy birthday business card to make note of the special occasion and made a point of saying happy birthday to my mom (very cool!). Every single thing we tried from cocktails to appetizer (coconut green curry mussels) to entrées (cioppino, barramundi, mixed grill) to dessert (coconut cake) was absolutely delicious. The prices are high but worth it for the ambience and amazing food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back!
I have been to Devon many times for lunch and this was the first time I was displeased. The hostess was personable and professional. Our waiter was only fair. He seemed distracted. We were never offered biscuits.
When our lunches were delivered, the condiment requested wasn't on the side as asked and the young woman did not wait long enough for us to mention it. We had to wait to get our server's attention.
When we declined dessert but ordered coffee, he seemed anxious to get us checked out. A refill on a cold beverage was not offered until we ordered coffee. We were later offered a second cup of coffee.
As we departed the restaurant I put my hand into the candy bowl and came out with a medium sized stone. I thought it was a hard candy at first. When I realized it was not a mint, I suggested that someone might bite into it and break a tooth. The girl at the reception desk scowled and told me, in a nasty tone, it is a decoration. I was trying to be helpful and I think she could have just said thanks.
I know that I will return to Devon but I hope the visit will be more pleasant.
The overall experience was okay, but for the price I would not recommend it. We had a reservation for 7:30 and were not seated until 8. Service was quite slow throughout the night. The food itself quite good, and would have been worth the price if it had not come out lukewarm. The steak and fish were all at an acceptable temperature, but there was not a single side at our table of six people that was hot. We have been there twice and were underwhelmed both times. There are simply better, and frankly cheaper, options in Hershey for a nice night out.
As usual a great place to eat. Little less stars for food because I had Surf and Turf , Filet Perfect but Salmon was Raw (Uncooked) center . Had to send it back to be COOKED , Came back a little crispy on the bottom but cooked. Not Don't know if that was the way it was normally cooked. You ask on the Tuna but maybe ask on the Salmon also how done you want it. Drinks and Appetizers Perfect.
Devons is our absolute favorite restaurant and we try to get there several times a year and every New Years Eve for sure. For my wife and I , it doesn't get any better than Devons on every level. Top food quality, service, ambiance, and you never feel cramped even when they are sold out. Would recommend to anyone who appreciates an upscale dining experience along with good value .
We were here for lunch on New Year’s Eve. The food was excellent, as always. However, the service was terrible. The food service was extremely slow and not attentive at all. We only had one round of drinks because it took forever for our waitress to come back. When she finally did we asked for the check and that took forever too. Hopefully, this was just an outlier because of the holiday. Very disappointed.
The fish...which they are named for...was not prepared well in any of the three selections our group had. Well over priced for the skill and quality produced. However the side dishes were excellent and the service was very good. Best value...order apps and sides and avoid an entree.
I've been to Devon's many times now since moving to the area. I especially like the birthday club where you get $25 off your entree for your birthday. My daughter got the steak (filet) and said it was the first restaurant that cooked it correctly, rare. This place is very relaxing and the staff are always happy to see you. My on;y complaint is sometimes trying to get a second roll takes more time than I think it should...they seem very stingy with their rolls but they are really good rolls.
We enjoyed our lunch and would recommend for a very special occasion, however price point was high for the quality of food, service, and ambiance. Also, there was no mention or acknowledgment of our Anniversary as was noted when we placed our "Open Table" reservation. That was disappointing for fine dining establishment. Our bill for 2 of us was approx $125.00 and we did not order alcohol or dessert.
We are frequent customers of Devon's because their seafood is always fresh, it is not as noisy as other restaurants, provides some privacy, and has great service. My wife ordered an old favorite, the mixed seafood grill. Another ordered halibut with mushrooms and green beans. I had the red snapper from New Zealand with mushrooms and broccolini.
The mixed seafood grill is "old faithful" - really tasty shrimp, salmon, and luscious scallops. If you can't figure out what to get - do this one. The sides are exchangeable for a large number of choices - all good.
The halibut comes without skin, has a firm but moist fish, and was quite tasty.
The red snapper, which comes with the skin on it - crispy, with garlic, was quite tasty and moist as well.
I strongly recommend all three of these dishes.
As far as sides, the mushrooms are incredibly tasty, the green beans nice and buttery (and not overcooked, as is so often the case elsewhere, so they are crisp), the asparagus good, and potatoes excellent. The broccolini was a salty from having too much of a salty cheese or from also adding salt.
The service was great, as usual.
