Devon Seafood + Steak - Hershey Ratings and Reviews
We were seated immediately for our 6pm reservation. Our server , Ashley, was excellent. She’s exuberant, friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. We started with a shared field greens salad which was crisp and fresh with just the right amount of dressing. My wife ordered the swordfish w/oven roasted potatoes and string beans. I ordered the char coated tuna, medium rare w/ oven roasted potatoes and asparagus. With the exception of a small piece of sinew in the tuna, our meals were delicious. We finished with a decaf coffee and single espresso. The espresso was served the way it should be served w/lemon peel and raw sugar. Too many restaurants don’t know how to serve espresso, but at Devon, Ashley does it right. Devon is a must for good food, wine selection, atmosphere, and relaxation.
Food was very good....panko fried shrimp and the crab cakes were excellent. Our only complaint is that we told the server that we were going to the theater for 6:30 pm show and the service was SLOW. We had to rush tasting our entrees and then take our food with us!! The server knew where we were going . Reservations for 5pm with the theater across the street should have been plenty of time for an app, salad and entree.
I met friends here from Philadelphia and Annville for a Sunday Brunch and they were very impressed how good everything was so tasty and well prepared.
My friend from Philadelphia, who is a lawyer said he will go out of his way when coming to the Harrisburg area to do business to eat here.
We gave it 5 stars.
My wife and I dined at Devon on our Anniversary. The staff was tremendous and guided us through the menu as we selected our courses. We both ordered fish that we've never tried before, and the descriptions were spot on. Everything we ate was perfectly prepared. From the mussels as an appetizer to the desserts, we enjoyed every bite.
I have had the pleasure of visiting multiple Devon locations and each one has been consistent with fresh food offerings and great service from the waitstaff. During this particular visit, we had the pleasure of having Dawn H. as our waitress and she was excellent. I really appreciated her honest opinions when asked her thoughts on certain menu selections and I also appreciated that she took the time to explain the freshness of the fish.
The only annoying part was that I was able to make reservations via OpenTable for a party of 4 at 8:15. I called and requested a 7:00 reservation and was told that there were no earlier reservations available. We actually arrived at Devon at 7:30 hoping to possibly be seated earlier, but was told (a little rudely) that we would not be seated until closer to 8:15. When we rounded the corner, there were plenty of tables available and that was just in the bar area! As a matter of fact, we wanted the table in front of the fireplace and it stayed empty for the entire 45 minutes until our 8:15 reservation. What the heck was that all about?!
Besides the mild irritation with the hostess, our meal was delicious as always:
Shrimp cocktail-HUGE shrimp
Mussels in green curry and coconut- amazing
Spicy tuna roll-delish
Fried shrimp-huge, delicious, and we received about a dozen!
Charred tuna(rare)-the best dish I have ever had at Devon
Halibut-cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths
Parmesan potatoes-good, however, mashed potatoes were better
Carrot cake-good, but some parts were a little dry
Apple croustade-always a home run
They really deserve 5 stars, but the issue with the hostess really upset us.
Out for mom's birthday dinner. Ordered mixed grill, ahi & fried shrimp. Our server, Amber, was very helpful & friendly. Unfortunately, the kitchen gave my mom some awful dark shrimp. We asked a young man to please find Amber, said he would but we didn't see her until much later. Fed mom food from my mixed grill. Amber was very responsive & had kitchen pack a shrimp order to go, so great customer service! Would definitely return. Bit expensive, but good quality for the price!
My wife had the Filet, It was wonderful. I hade the Wyu Ribeye, it was the most expensive, toughest steak I have ever had. My wife had to hold my plate to keep it from sliding all over the table while I cut the steak. Would have sent it back, but had a concert to attend.
I ordered it cooked medium, it came med rare and was cold. The Yukon gold potatoes were very tasty. The desert was to die for, had the Hershey's cake drenched in ganache.
I asked for the salad dressing on the side, but it came out already dressed. Ordered fish tacos, and had to search for the fish. Small piece of fish and not much seasoning on the taco and rather dry. Fries were...meh. Tasted like shoestrings out of the bag.
It really was nice. I had propose to my fiancee earlier that day on top of it being it anniversary and just wanted to have a quiet dinner where I could get some awesome scallops. The scallops we're perfectly cooked. Nice crisp on top and juicy in the middle. The waitress was very attentive and very helpful. I drove two hours in the rain and some how still enjoyed myself. I would definitely go back. A lot earlier in the day to really get the experience of the restaurant.
