Excellent service, food and fun, festive and casual atmosphore. Reasonably priced!
Came here because I heard great things about Devil's Alley, especially for Happy Hour. I scheduled a friends get together this past Friday. The food was definitely a hit! However, the drinks were horrible. In any case, I would definitely recommend/suggest that anyone check out Devil's Alley.
The food and atmosphere was great! Service was a bit slow but it was a busy night. Would definitely go back!
Everyone enjoyed their meals and the drink selection was great! We also had a fairly last minute reservation (booked on a Thursday for a Saturday) for a larger group and they were able to accommodate us, so that was a plus!
Pretty casual spot with matching menu- the service was slow and it took a long time to be approached. Drinks also room quite some time and then the check was just dropped on the table mid meal. Really? Sandwiches were tasty the pulled pork and Cali Turkey.
Had never been before, but heard good things. I had a couple of friends in town visiting from NYC and wanted to take them somewhere we could talk and get good food and drinks. Service was quick and accurate. The portions were large. Had to take most of it home. The food was good. Everybody was friendly. The graffiti downstairs was cool. I’ll be back for more crab cakes and pulled pork.
The food was decent, but the noise from the upstairs bar was very loud the entire time.
I Always have a good meal and a great beer here. The food is familiar but creative, so it's a nice place to go if you want something a little different but might not have the most adventurous palette. My go to is their Fried Green Tomato BLT.
I used Devil's Alley as an introduction to Philly restaurants for my mother, who had never spent a night in the city. She was very excited by the atmosphere of the restaurant (business casual grunge) and said the crab cakes were delicious.
And a special thank you to the wait staff on St. Patrick's day. It was busy and loud, but they were on top of everything.
It was disgusting that the waitress thought it was okay to clean the table infront of us they are so luck that the food was decent otherwise they wouldn’t have gotten a single star
The food was awesome, very laid back an low key.
Food was okay. Seems like the burgers were good based on what I saw other diners ordering. Most of the food we ordered was just okay.
It was not busy at all! Great place
I enjoyed a nice , chilled out environment when I went for dinner here on a busy Saturday night! Very nice Service and food was okay , however they need to extend the menu more but everything was pretty awesome!
The duck confit special for Valentines day was excellent, our waiter was friendly and sweet and our experience was enjoyable!
We are 4 adults who went to celebrate a new job. The food was excellent! Vibe is cool and good for date night or friend gathering. Nice casual clothes works. Waitress may have been new. She was slow to take our order,
Slow to bring our drinks, brought us a glass of whiskey that belonged to another table and didn’t realize it for a good 15 minutes. Then she proceeded to take the drink from our table and give it to the customer! We drank from it!! Next-My husband ordered a margarita. When the bill came she charged him $16.50 for a small glass mostly filled with ice. I told the manager and was told that she would make sure we got a few drinks in the future. Other than the bad service-I completely recommended Devils Alley
Needed a restaurant location following a sporting event
The service was prompt and the food was tasty.
I was very disappointed. I made a reservation for my family days before the Eagles parade because I wanted someplace we could eat while the crowds thinned out after the parade was over. When I got to the restaurant, we waited 15 min and no host ever appeared at the front to even speak with us. It was clear the restaurant was overrun and out of control. We had to leave the city without eating and missed the experience of staying around all the other fans after the parade. Don't take reservations if you aren't prepared and organized enough to honor them.
Easy and casual eating spot. We had the burgers and they were very good. Service was wonderful.
Very fun. Ate on 2nd floor. Just made happy hour! Service was great.
Fish tacos had no flavor
Neat place to hang out. Lots of nice people.
It was a great restaurant! The lighting in there is amazing and perfect for date night.
Dinner was great-service is awesome, food is amazing! Definitely worth trying out-I will be back!
Found the ambiance and food agreeable -- possibly because of low expectations after YELP reviews. Salt, pepper and catsup were on the table, and were needed for an uninspired duck pot pie. The steak was perfect as it was served, though. Fried cauliflower with chili mayo, fried green tomatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts were all very good. I LOVED the "potted brownie." We ate early in the evening during restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed sitting next to the fireplace upstairs. I can imagine when the place is crowded as it would be for lunch or happy hours, service would be more difficult. Plan accordingly.
Food good and service was great. They had no problem with lactex free gloves and raw veggies.
Food was disgusting. Service was horrible; wasn’t even busy when we were there. Waitress didn’t even ask how everything was.
Service was terrible, server was not attentive at all . Forgot our silverware and water. My friends food was cold however mines was fine and good. Probably won’t becoming back. Ambiance is very nice .
service was horrible food was ok drinks took forever and there wasn’t a good choice of cocktails
Where should I began...From the terrible seating at a less than accomadating round table for 3 people...To the Server Jeremy, Who was also LESS than accomadating...Once he took our order, He ONLY came to OUR table if/when we called him over! The lighting was AWFUL! We COULDN'T EVEN read the menu without the lighting from Our Cell Phones! My Meal was absolutely Screwed up!!! I Wish I would have taken a pic of that "Med RARE Burger (Stillll Mooing) when I Ordered Med WELL!
Great place for last minute dinner reservations! We had side salad, hamburgers and fries. Everything was delicious and came out as ordered. Reasonable prices too!
I’m disappointed to report my recent lunch to Devil’s Alley was horrible. It was clear they were slammed, which should have been predicted due to the women’s march nearby, but understand sometimes the unpredictable happens and we anticipated delays. Unfortunately, it was much worse than expected.
We came with a reservation for 4. We were first seated at a round table clearly big enough to fit only two, with additional chairs squeezed in, and were accommodated when we requested a sufficiently sized table for 4. Yay for that!
Then... It took a least 10 minutes to order drinks, at which time we also ordered food to expedite eating. 2 of our 4 drinks were delivered to the table 15 minutes after that...we had to stop our server to inquire about them and that’s when we got the first two drinks. We didn’t see our server for another 10 at which time we asked for the additional two, one which was a soda. It was clear she had a tap to use and got the soda to us within minutes. The last drink was alcoholic and took another 5. It should be noted the food came while waiting for the last drink, which is evidence of how long it took to receive our drinks. Our food was set down - but one meal was missing and we had no utensils. 10 mins passed and we saw a busser, asked for utensils and he agreed but continued to clean the nearby table...the silverware came 5 mins after that, around the time when the last meal was delivered. There were also delays getting our check. Not only did our server not service our table, but she was nowhere to be find when we needed to flag her down.
It’s clear they were way understaffed or untrained. I’ve had marginal service at this venue in the past but this was too awful to overlook - was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had since moving to philly 2.5 years ago. I do not plan to visit again.
They were extremely busy so it was understandable that the food and drinks took so long to get to the table. Food was good overall except for French toast that was undercooked and mushy on the inside.
Sat downstairs towards the front - unsteady table, waiter served all dishes on top of each other within minutes (could have been because of restaurant week)
Have eaten BRUNCH upstairs before and loved everything -
My friends and I decided on this place for restaurant week. The food was pretty horrible! It had no taste or flavor and was just down right nasty. I was so excited because this was the first place that I went to over the past week for Restaurant week that offered ice cream, which I love! I didn’t even eat the ice cream and cookies, which says a lot because I ALWAYS eat dessert. The waiter was cool. He apologized and said that he would tell the cooks, but not once did he offer to send a manager over. On the flip side, the drinks weren’t bad until our pitcher of lemonade was brought out with blonde hair on it 🤢. I would not recommend this place if you like good food!!!
A Restaurant Week inspired reservation which will lead to future visits
Very nice and good service
We went here for restaurant week and sat upstairs. The people who work there are friendly, the happy hour is pretty great, and there's a nice, chill vibe to the place - i.e., it's not a stuffy type of place (at least upstairs). Food was pretty good.
First visit for Philly Restaurant Week. Cobb Salad is delicious and generously portioned. Chorizo burger is unique and delicious (spicy!), Steak Frites perfectly done (fries sitting slightly too long), plus other novel offerings for the promo prix fixe. We're returning!
