Deuxave Ratings and Reviews
Went for my one year Anniversary with my girlfriend and Deuxave more than fit for the occasion. The atmosphere is intimate and exudes class. The service is attentive but not over the top- a perfect balance. Most importantly, the food itself was done to perfection. We had the Lobster Gnocchi, French Onion Soup, Spice Crusted Tuna, and Halibut dishes, as well as a side of fries. All were fantastic, and the Halibut was without a doubt the best either of us have ever had. Really glad we picked Deuxave for our celebration!
We walked into a warm and welcoming hostess...were seated promptly. Our waitress was wonderful...very attentive without hovering. The other members of the team that took care of our table were very respectful as well. Martini was one of the best we have tasted. The meal presentations were artistically arranged. The food itself was better than good but not fabulous.
Would give it one more shot and certainly order something different.
Great ambiance. Attentive staff. Trying to upsell the truffle as soon as we sat down was annoying. The worst onion soup I’ve ever had and one would think a restaurant claiming to be French would have this down. Thin watery beef bouillon with a sour taste. Disappointed. The pork chop had a faux smoked taste as if it were treated with liquid smoke. Gummy gnocchi which again was an upsell from the appetizer portion for $42!! Lovely place and terrific service but the food really needs improvement.
I think the food was very good but my husband thought that the portions were very small . The service was excellent. The cocktails very good . We did not really love the dessert. The coffee was very good . The ambience and view awesome . The lighting just right :)
The service was terrific. We said in our reservation we were celebrating our anniversary, which the hostess noted when we arrived, and once seated we were presented with complimentary glasses of prosecco. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. The starter (two slices of house-made mortadella) was ordinary. The first course - halibut- was worth the price of the entire meal. The short ribs were almost as spectacular. The pork was very nice, but by then we were sated. We had the supplemental cheese plate - don’t bother one piece of Vermont blue on a fruit base. The dessert was NOT memorable. The wines were nice but not remarkable. We will return for the halibut and the general excellence of the experience but won’t do the tasting menu again.
Probably the most bang for the buck french restaurant in town. The food is absolutely amazing. The quality is without doubt top tier. The handling of the food ingredients is definitely worth 4-5 dollar sign rating. If you want better you probably need to pay a lot more at like Troquet.
The best part is the dessert! Unbelievably complex with very simple ingredients.
Otherwise, wine is over priced as per usual.
Birthday dinner for my girlfriend. Food was amazing, all 3 courses: appetizer, entree and dinner. Wine selections were great. Can’t say enough about the service, everyone was attentive and perfectly on point. We’d definitely go back again.
There were six of us for dinner. Service was good although a waiter brought us food that was meant for another table. The restaurant is very expensive but really not that "special". Food was good but not over the top. Parking is non existent so you really need to use the valet service--another cost.
It was Thanksgiving and you could see that the staff was busting their butts to meet everyone's expectations. My husband enjoyed the turducken. It just was a longish wait for the food after we got seated. The truffle mac and cheese was delicious though the portion seemed a bit skimpy but overall good food and wine. We like this restaurant and know that holidays and special occasions are hard.
We arrived early for our Thanksgiving reservation and were told the restaurant was running about 10 minutes behind. Some 30 minutes after the scheduled time we were directed to a high-top in the bar area crowded with other waiting parties, despite having a reservation for the dining room. We declined and were seated properly 40 minutes after the scheduled time. Service was not swift but I cannot blame the staff as they seemed overwhelmed. Still, couldn't you at least toss us a few rolls right away after our long wait? The food itself was good and plentiful, but all three courses were served to the wrong person. A side of cranberry sauce was delivered to our table but did not seem associated with either main. Over-all this was not an experience I would want to repeat.
The food was fantastic. However....My reservation was for a high top table. I was contacted by the restaurant prior to my dinner to 'warn' me that I had selected a high top table. I was told it was adjacent to the bar overlooking the patio. I was not told that the bar is also where everyone would be standing and waiting for their table in the main dining room. My table was surrounded by people waiting. At one point someone who was waiting sat on the bench next to my table. Conversation was at times difficult. This would have been fine if I were at a bar having burgers and beer, but it was not acceptable for this type of restaurant. There should have been some way to restrict waiting patrons.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family Thanksgiving dinner at Deuxave. The prix fixe menu was outstanding; the truffled mac & cheese side was a huge hit with the table. In fact, we ordered a second. And we had three of the four entrees (turkey; short rib; turduken). All were home runs.
Oh... and the wine menu is exceptional. We had a fantastic Bordeaux. Again, times two.
We were seated on time and our table service was flawless. The sole service exception was the bartender. She was curt and dismissive and very obviously was disinclined to be working on the holiday. I am certain that most days, she is much better... otherwise, she would not have that job.
I definitely will return for a "regular" dinner!
Would have given four & a half stars if half stars were available. Have been before & will go again. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is very, very good, though not inexpensive. Duck confit appetizer to die for. Entrance is a little tight and confining for handicapped people who may be wheelchair bound. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.
I need to start with the fact that I don’t often give reviews but this experience was review worthy. We came for my boyfriends birthday. I booked on open table and let them know ahead of time the occasion. They greeted us with champagne while waiting for our table (completely unexpected and appreciated... who doesn’t like a surprise?) The food was incredible. We ordered the lobster gnocchi, fois gras and beef tartare and waygu carpaccio. They were all excellent. Every order came out the way it should. It was paced perfectly even though they asked for the entire order at once. The wait staff is amazing. There was always someone cleaning our table, refilling our wine or water, changing out silverware or asking how our food was. We also ordered the pork and the duck for main course. Both were also excellent. My SO says it’s the best Duck he ever had. For desert we had creme brûlée which of course like the entire meal was also amazing. They put a candle on the plate which was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. The Restaurant fulfilled every expectation I had. We will be back. The prices are extremely reasonable too. We had an amazing night. Thank you to everyone at Deuxave who made tonight memorable. We will be back.
Deuxave is our replacement for the now no longer open, Hamersley's Bistro. The food is easily on a par with what Gordon was doing, or would be doing now, which is not faint praise. Wines have been chosen with care and fairly priced. The food is always delicious, beautifully presented and served hot with correct intervals between courses. There is no extensive wait nor are we ever rushed. Their staff across the board are invariably excellent. We feel they are serving the best food in Boston and is our favorite restaurant.
My husband and I had dinner at my express recommendation as I loved the restaurant from when it opened a few years back in my neighborhood. I was disappointed by the food and service. The duck sauce was overwhelming and the service borderline inattentive to our needs. We were not informed that asking for a glass of flat water and another of sparkling water would result in two huge bottles of each then be told that's all they have. My husband was certain that the water was complimentary and of course it wasn't. We are not cheap people (on the contrary) but we like to know what we are going in for. It was not fair. The service felt rushed at times. The goodies plate that came along with the check had a broken tip. We spent a good amount of money but felt disatisfied at the end of our dinner time. I really hope that mgmt takes better care of their offers. Overall we give it a 3/5 for the feutré environment and tasty halibut dish. We would rather spend this amount of money in another high end restaurant.
It was a nice restaurant with a modern feel. The food was very good quality and tasty but not memorable unfortunately. I hate to say that because I feel it was a good attempt but we've simply had better, more inventive, thought out. We had the tasting menu and thought that parts were really good, the halibut, the steak the soup but the menu didnt seem cohesive. Ambiance was nice but not warm. Service was good but not engaging or especially professional whatsoever as it really should be at a restaurant of this level. Service could have showcased the meal better. Disappointing that for 1 night, we didn't have a memorable amazing dinner in Boston
We had made a reservation about 6 weeks prior to last night. When we arrived, our friends were seated at a table in the bar area. They were told that a table would not be available in the dining room for at least 30 minutes, despite our having a reservation. The hostess offered us free champagne, which was fine although none of us really wanted it, and said she would keep an eye out for an open table. Nobody ever offered us the option to move. The service in the bar area was extremely slow and at times it was so loud that we couldn't hear the person sitting next to us. My chair kept getting bumped by people standing at the bar. Although the food was delicious, the service was quite disappointing. We were frustrated at having had a reservation and not being able to sit in the dining room.
