Deuxave Ratings and Reviews
I need to start with the fact that I don’t often give reviews but this experience was review worthy. We came for my boyfriends birthday. I booked on open table and let them know ahead of time the occasion. They greeted us with champagne while waiting for our table (completely unexpected and appreciated... who doesn’t like a surprise?) The food was incredible. We ordered the lobster gnocchi, fois gras and beef tartare and waygu carpaccio. They were all excellent. Every order came out the way it should. It was paced perfectly even though they asked for the entire order at once. The wait staff is amazing. There was always someone cleaning our table, refilling our wine or water, changing out silverware or asking how our food was. We also ordered the pork and the duck for main course. Both were also excellent. My SO says it’s the best Duck he ever had. For desert we had creme brûlée which of course like the entire meal was also amazing. They put a candle on the plate which was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. The Restaurant fulfilled every expectation I had. We will be back. The prices are extremely reasonable too. We had an amazing night. Thank you to everyone at Deuxave who made tonight memorable. We will be back.
My husband and I had dinner at my express recommendation as I loved the restaurant from when it opened a few years back in my neighborhood. I was disappointed by the food and service. The duck sauce was overwhelming and the service borderline inattentive to our needs. We were not informed that asking for a glass of flat water and another of sparkling water would result in two huge bottles of each then be told that's all they have. My husband was certain that the water was complimentary and of course it wasn't. We are not cheap people (on the contrary) but we like to know what we are going in for. It was not fair. The service felt rushed at times. The goodies plate that came along with the check had a broken tip. We spent a good amount of money but felt disatisfied at the end of our dinner time. I really hope that mgmt takes better care of their offers. Overall we give it a 3/5 for the feutré environment and tasty halibut dish. We would rather spend this amount of money in another high end restaurant.
It was a nice restaurant with a modern feel. The food was very good quality and tasty but not memorable unfortunately. I hate to say that because I feel it was a good attempt but we've simply had better, more inventive, thought out. We had the tasting menu and thought that parts were really good, the halibut, the steak the soup but the menu didnt seem cohesive. Ambiance was nice but not warm. Service was good but not engaging or especially professional whatsoever as it really should be at a restaurant of this level. Service could have showcased the meal better. Disappointing that for 1 night, we didn't have a memorable amazing dinner in Boston
We had made a reservation about 6 weeks prior to last night. When we arrived, our friends were seated at a table in the bar area. They were told that a table would not be available in the dining room for at least 30 minutes, despite our having a reservation. The hostess offered us free champagne, which was fine although none of us really wanted it, and said she would keep an eye out for an open table. Nobody ever offered us the option to move. The service in the bar area was extremely slow and at times it was so loud that we couldn't hear the person sitting next to us. My chair kept getting bumped by people standing at the bar. Although the food was delicious, the service was quite disappointing. We were frustrated at having had a reservation and not being able to sit in the dining room.
Deuxave was a sparking surprise, and hands down the best dining experience I've had in Boston in quite some time. This restaurant is perfection, from the moment you enter, and througout the evening. Its bar is cozy and worthy of a dining location, but we had a booth facing the street, which was nice and supported conversation. Our server, Chantel, was attentive and exceptionally knowledgeable of the menu, giving us some great tips. Entrees are reasonably priced and of superior quality. The wine list is divine. The place deserves your business!
I had been wanting to dine at Deuxave for years now and finally booked my reservation...my expectations were more than exceeded thanks to the incredible service and the world class cuisine. Chef Chris Coombs' dishes were perfect...the chicken was the most succulent chicken I've ever tasted in my entire life, and I've been cooking since I was 13. I've never been big on dessert, but Pastry Chef Shaun Velez has changed that. His stand alone creme brûlée was the perfect combination of sweet and savory...and the roasted pistachio ice cream on the pistachio dish was to die for! Highly recommend!
Lovely and efficient wait staff and bartender.
Nice wine selection.
BUT warned them about allergies on line and by phone weeks in advance - and was told the chef would work with it for this special event dinner. Few options provided for serious allergy folks at the dinner and disappointing because of that. One of the party with allergies ended up in emergency that night with stomach issues. Very unfortunate.
Delicious cocktails and comprehensive wine list. We both had the French onion soup to start which was fabulous, for main courses my friend had the duck which she said was delicious and I had the tagliatelle which was lovely.
Great atmosphere, attentive service, all in all we had an excellent evening at Deuxave and would definitely recommend it.
Wonderful meal. Having been told that we would be celebrating our anniversary, the restaurant went all out on congratulating us, including complimentary champagne! We ate on the patio, taking advantage of the unseasonably warm October weather. It was very pleasant, but it means I can't speak to the ambience or noise level inside. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
With a reservation we had to wait an hour. There were three of us and one had major dietary restrictions so two of us wanted the tasting menu. We were told the chef would have to approve. Even after we said that we didn't mind food coming out at different times for the person who did not have the tasting menu we still had to have a manger check with the chef. We had the tasting menu and most of it was clearly prepared much earlier. The duck skin was soft and not crispy. Another dish had potatoes that were not properly cooked. For everything we had heard about this restaurant it was indeed a disappointment.
We booked this restaurant well in advance for a special occasion, having heard good things about it. The hostess put us in a section where we were stuffed in like sardines, despite 20% of the restaurant being empty. It took 30 minutes to put in our drink order, and when they arrived they weren't what we had ordered. We had two appetizers, one of which was very good, the other was "ok". Same with the entrees, one was good, the other was bland. With so many great restaurants in Boston, it's hard to imagine going back.
Dinner was just OK. I got the scallops and there were only 4 very small scallops on the plate--not even the big bay scallops. I was left a little hungry and disappointed overall in that dish. My date ordered the chicken based on our servers recommendation. Again, the chicken was just OK. Not what I was hoping for a restaurant with such great reviews.
Starters and the French onion soup were surprisingly good. The two main courses are not really exceptional but stand out overall. The spiced duck breast hits your taste bud with several levels of flavors. The crust on the duck breast was really tasteful. Desserts were amazing too. I strongly recommend the pistachio Napoleon for it is one of the best pistachio flavored anything I've had.
My partner and I had a great meal at Deauxave for his birthday. We took a table on the patio since it was so nice out and there was almost always a server or hostess that you could call to your table if need by. They were very attentive and made sure to answer all our questions. Cocktails to start were fantastic, the Two Avenues is the best on the list. The duck confit was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The beef tartar was okay, I was expecting more flavor but I had never had it before so definitely worth a try. The halibut and duck breast dinner courses were also fantastic. The huckleberry sauce and pistachio paste with the duck was a great touch. I highly recommend Deauxave and their wonderful menus. I will absolutely be going back.
