Deuxave Ratings and Reviews
Food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Pricey menu and some offerings on the small side. Some tables received lovely looking macaroons at the end but we received something else. Asked for the macaroons but were told they were unavailable. That didn't seem very accommodating.
A gem of a restaurant located on a pretty street corner of Back Bay Boston
Great and creative presentation with sumptuous food .
The beet salad was divine and the rich entrees leave you guessing as to what
choice to make. Make reservations and ask for a booth
It didn't hurt that it was a beautiful evening. We asked to sit outside and they put us on the street corner under a tree wrapped with a string of white lights. The people watching was out of this world as there's so much happening! We were a little early but seated right away nevertheless. We started with the Lobster Gnocchi dish and the Foie Gras paired with a Sauternes. Outstanding! Both dishes! We shared the duck entree and it was another 10/10 with just the right balance of flavors and another excellent wine pairing. Our dessert was a creative chocolate dish that was delicious and creative but very small. Coffee was very good as well. It was just about a perfect dining experience.
Always a wonderful night out at Deuxave for a special occasion. This is the fourth time I've gone and it's as consistent as it is delicious. The wait staff is friendly and courteous and the Duck Confit is one of the best plates I've ever had. Will definitely be returning again.
Was dissapointed by the lowering of standards from what we've come to expect at deuxave. The food was still inventive, with ingredients and combinations not seen elsewhere- however the portions seemed to have shrunk noticeably - i.e. Think small plate size at gourmet dining big plate prices. The service was down a notch as well; the sparkling water which sat in a chilling ring on the table was self service, as no one ever cane by to pour it; the pause between courses was longer than appropriate, particulatly given that the restaurant wasnt full and when something was needed there wasn't a waiter nearby to summon. Perhaps the most annoying aspect of the meal was my wife's duck entree; a fair amount of it was extremely rare/ almost raw; she didnt finish it because it was unpalatable to her; when someone finally came to clear plates, we asked if that was standard preparation; they saif they wld bring it to a mgr's attention. Later the waiter said they were discussing it in the kitchen and agreed it was undercooked. That was the last we heard of it; no mgr came to say anything; no apology - no offer of a drink, dessert, etc. (and yes we were charged full price for the meal)
Sad. Dont expect we'll be returning
A three and a half hour anniversary dinner that seemed to go by in a flash. We both had the superb Chef's Tasting Menu of five courses -- each the exact right size. The wine pairings fully complemented the meal. As always, the difference between a very good meal and a great meal was the service. Everyone who assisted us made us feel welcome and special. The ambience outside at the deux avenues was a welcome reminder of Paris. Deuxave is not inexpensive, but the value far exceeds the cost.
Our brown haired, blue eyed handsome waiter (I wish I remembered his name) was outstanding. He went above and beyond taking care of my food allergies and making sure our dining experience was pleasurable. I had a yummy and refreshing cocktail with lemon and lavender altered safely for me. Warm and fresh gluten free bread. Perfectly cooked duck on a bed of wilted greens. The portion was so large I couldn't finish.
My friend loved her cocktail and enjoyed every bite of her sea bass.
We will return with our husbands!
Our experience was very enjoyable . Everything was very tasty and the sauces were un "delice" ( my husband's choice) . The foie gras , however ( my choice) was a bit small , even for an appetizer . The desert , small also, was delicious and the different textures were unexpected-- we loved it.
Excellent experience. Sat outdoors on a beautiful evening. Everything we ordered was excellent. Enjoyed the duck liver pate and the chicken was perfectly prepared. Service staff was wonderful and knowledgeable about the food and wine and made great recommendations when requested. The sea salt butter and brioche were well worth a splurge on bread before dinner. A side order of mushrooms was the best we've had anywhere.
This is one of our favorite restaurants and we always go there when we are in Boston. Exceptional food - fresh, delicious and innovative. The chicken is always uniquely prepared in their own way. Actually there are so many dishes there that are must tries - the gnocchi with lobster is another one! Always a terrific experience - the staff is warm, friendly and professional.
We went here for our own personal wedding celebration a few days after our wedding. We did the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairing and everything was delightful. Might've been a little more food than I could handle, but it was all delicious. Would definitely go back.
Great food but I wish they would turn down the background music. It's not deafening but it is disturbing to me.
Appetizers were especially good. We really loved the lobster and gnocchi and enjoyed the crab salad and crispy duck confit. We liked the mushroom and French fries sides a lot too. I liked the lamb main though it was not as amazing as the appetizers.
Ambience and service were great. However, We had two issues: both my husband and I requested that our duck breast be cooked medium and not rare. The waitress was hesitant and seemed to imply that this might be a problem with the chef. I guess she was correct, since our requests were ignored, making our dishes less enjoyable for us. Our other issue was with the size of the chocolate dessert---almost nonexistent!
In spite of these two issues, I would return to Deauxave, but I'm not so sure about my husband (His duck was rarer than mine).
It's unfortunate for a restaurant to come so close to perfect and have a chef whose ego gets in the way of the customer fully enjoying an expensive meal.
Had the tasting menu. Wonderful diversity of tastes and textures. Appetizer courses were light and refreshing. Entrees were hearty, with extraordinary sauces. Wine pairings were well-suited to each course. Service was attentive, cordial and timely. Overall, a delightful experience for a special occasion.
We celebrated our last night in Boston at Deuxave. The restaurant was beautifully decorated & the food was outstanding & creatively presented! Shaine our waiter was professional, un-intrusive & extremely knowledgeable about the wine we chose. Definitely would go back next time we're in town.
Deuxave is a awesome restaurant! My wife and I had a really romantic dinner there. We came to there for our anniversary and we fell in love with this place immediately. They decorated a couple beautiful candles in our table and prepared 2 fancy chairs for us! The food is so delicious too! Definitely the right place if you want to have a delicious romantic dinner!
Knowledgable wine staff. Attentive service. Environment fun, but can be noisy. Some portions quite small. Beet salad delicious, bit containes eight 1" pieces. Presentation superb, but quality does not always match price. Second time there. we liked it but will have a $200. meal elsewhere nxt time.
