Deuxave Ratings and Reviews
We had the tasting menu with wine accompaniment + both supplements (foie gras + cheese). The food was excellent and the wine selection was wonderfully complementary (we had a Brittany apple cider with the Vermont blue cheese). Turned out to be a big check, but we had a great time. Our waiter was very nice - solicitous but not intrusive. The chef accommodated food allergies very well with nice substitutions.
Staff was friendly and our server was great. she was friendly attentive and knowledgeable. We did not order an appetizer and our waitress let us know that it would take ~35 min for our entrees to come out, to make sure we were aware.
Mass Ave was blocked off by the police and we could not get to the Valet. We called the restaurant and the valet came to meet us on the corner. Staff was great and accomodating
The food was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about Deuxave.
We went on New Year's Eve, not normally a good time to go to a restaurant. I had been to the restaurant several times before, but this time was the best, and the service was remarkably good considering the number of diners. Five courses, all excellent, and one of the best wine lists in Boston to choose from. Sommelier very helpful. Highly recommended.
We went to Deuxave on a date for the Holidays- The food was great (especially the appetizers- duck confit and gnocchi!) The lavender cocktail was delicious as well! Service was excellent and the experience as a whole was great! The dining room is a little small- so our table was a little tight next to the wall but overall not a big deal. Would definitely recommend!
A beautiful restaurant with outstanding food and a perfect place for a special occasion. Our only concern was that we had a bit of a wait getting to see the waiter for the first time. Once we connected with him he was prompt throughout the rest of the meal, however, so this may have been just a quirk, and it didn't in any way spoil the overall great experience.
The service was a little slow. It took a long time for our waiter to come over once we were seated, and he seemed to disappear a couple of times. The restaurant was busy but not packed. In addition we were served a side dish of mushrooms that were cold. We sent them back and it took a long time to get them again, and I am sure they were the same mushrooms in the same bowls as the bowl had a tiny chip on it. These were $15 and by the time they came back I was halfway through my meal as was my dining partner.
The gentleman at the front podium also had kind of an attitude, and seemed angry at us when he brought the wrong coats. (Which he then tossed to the side, glad they were not ours!) And then he seemed angry again when he had to get out coats, which he delegated to someone else to do.
We really like this place and will go back, but this experience was not as good as we had in the past.
Everything from the bartenders to the food to the samples and dessert screams five stars while you don't feel the weight and the price tag of such upscale dining in a city like Boston! This is the go to place for all special occasions or just a nice night out on the town or between events it's a must.
We have been to Deuxave a number of times for birthday/anniversary dinners with and without friends and have always felt that it had a perfect experience. Amazing service, exceptional food, etc. This time things just felt off. We always get the same appetizer (potato gnocchi with lobster) and it is simply the best appetizer in Boston. But not this past Sunday night. The service was mediocre despite it being a really quiet night. The rest of the food was good but not great (other than the duck, which was excellent). Just a disappointing experience all around.
My wife and I choose the spot looking to get out of the cold and enjoy a relaxing dinner with a fireplace. The staff made us feel welcome and we instantly relaxed. My wife and I both enjoyed the tasting menu, with a couple of additions, and the associated wine pairing. Fantastic! Weaving in multiple ingredients as thought they've always gone together, all paired well. Even a picky eater like myself was able to enjoy the dish with horseradish. The halibut was easily my favorite and will bring me back again.
The ambiance is similar to an upscale Parisian restaurant. The food is attractively presented. The duck was second to none in presentation and flavors. Service is attentive without being obtrusive. Noise level was not low but was lower than most. I highly recommend This restaurant
Food was great, best tuna I ever had. Our cocktails at the bar was a great experience.
Excellent wine list. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine with dinner. But when I got my bill I questioned one of the charges which was not ours, the waitresses responce was not very nice and for no reason. The charge was not ours. Oh well, at least the food was excellent! One of Bostons best Resturants.
The staff at Deuxave is so wonderfully accommodating and flexible. The people I dined with changed their minds about checking coats after we were seated, and wanted to place another order after our initial order already went to the chef. The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to make our table's experience incredibly comfortable and enjoyable. For two of the people at the table, it was their first time at Deuxave, and they were absolutely blown away by the ambiance, the staff's hospitality, and the amazing food. Thank you so much, it's always a joy to walk through the doors at Deuxave!
I had planned a wonderful evening for my wife’s birthday. It was a surprise dinner at a cute restaurant, Deuxave, decorated with elegant white lights that she happened to walk by on her commute back home. I was so excited to take her there. The restaurant confirmed the reservation the night before and was told of our “aversion” to pork. I put aversion in quotes because it is something my wife has never eaten in her life, and I unwitteningly ate a bite of once in third grade. It is part of our religious beliefs, and a belief we wish to honor and respect. Every restaurant we have ever been to in our lives has taken note and courtesy not to serve us pork (I grew up in South Carolina, and that’s a feat). Now, that aversion is confirmed once again when we ordered the tasting menu. One of the dishes contained “hamhocks,” something I had never heard of. I assumed it was a vegetable, as we had already told the restaurant twice no pork. After taking a bite, I realized that this was no recognizable vegetable. I alerted the waiter, who then summoned the assistant manager. He told us that they take this very seriously and apologized. Fine. The waiter said the drinks will be taken care of. I assumed that meant in addition to the meal. At the end, I was presented with the bill. I never wanted to make a scene, as it was my wife’s birthday. But I was shocked that I found myself calculating the tip. Again, this is something that we have never really eaten, and every restaurant we had ever been to was able to adhere to our request, even when told once. This meal should have been taken care of. We both felt sick the next day with severe gastrointestinal symptoms. We called again to air our grievances, and the assistant manager said he would be mailing us a gift certificate, equal to the amount of the meal. While I had no plans of returning to a restaurant that did not respect our food restrictions, the drinks and ambiance were excellent so perhaps we will use it on that. Unimpressed!
