Owner Brian Piccini and Chef/Owner Christopher Coombs are proud of their award winning Restaurant & Bar, Deuxave in the Back Bay. The inspiration behind the restaurant’s American Nouveau Cuisine is seasonality, with a focus on working with the finest farms and purveyors, sourcing out the freshest, local ingredients and amplifying their magnificence. The cuisine is strongly rooted in the nouvelle techniques of contemporary French cuisine, married with the splendor of American ingredients in a refined, but casual setting. We had a very good dinner though service could have been more attentive. The one issue I have with Deuxave is that you have a reservation and arrive on time they ALWAYS tell you your table isn’t quite ready ‘how about a drink at the bar while you wait’. It’s just rude as they only want you spend money at the bar. Fifteen/twenty minutes go by and your table is ready and it was also just as ready when you arrived. It’s insulting.

I don't see my girlfriend often because I live thousands of miles away, so when I come to Boston to see her we visit our favorite restaurants and seek out new ones, it was my turn to book, so choose Deuxave, a quite pricy restaurant. Firstly we had to wait for our water, wine and champagne , starters only arrived 20min after ordering them, I had the Duet of Prime Beef Tartare & Wagyu Carpaccio and my partner the Mélange of Heirloom Beets, which was acceptable and then we waited for over an hour for our main courses to arrive, no reason was given why... there was a delay, my loved one ordered the Pan Seared Atlantic Halibut and I Spiced Long Island Duck Breast with a side of Native Bok Choy, Black Garlic Emulsion, Pickled Daikon Radish and this is where it became unsavory excuse the pun, The Halibut was over cooked, she left half, my duck was so dry and chewy it and without taste, I had about 3 bites before I gave up, even my wine couldn't wash it down properly and don't let me get started on the Bok Cho, it was obvious it was in the warmer has long as we had been waiting for our main courses, it was the worst dish that both had ever tasted. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths.

Dinner outside on their patio. Was expecting more street noise but was surprising modest. Food as always is spectacular. Always high quality and varied enough that you can always find something new. Service a bit slower outside but to be expected.

Great food, with explosive tastes. Portions were acceptable.
It was our anniversary, and they treated us very attentively, which we appreciated.
We always feel great at this restaurant; either at the table or at the bar.

Only complaint was we needed a microscope to find our desert. Very tasty and artistic but not worth the price (of the desert) or the wait for it to be served.

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and we were so happy with the entire evening. We had excellent service and enjoyed a wonderful tasting with the wine to pair. They had ample gluten free options (delicious rolls) and we easily able to accommodate.

We loved our dinner experience with Deauxave. The food was impeccable, the service was exceptional, and the ambiance was beyond words.
Our group grew and shrunk but Deauxave was very accommodating and understanding. The wait staff was very knowledgeable, friendly but not overly intrusive. They were glad to talk with the chef and tweek our meals just enough that everyone was happy and thoroughly impressed.
We’re glad we followed the subtle hint by the wait staff to try the tasting menu because it turned our ordinary dinner outing into a night worth talking about.
Finally, no Deauxave discussion is relevant without mention of the foie gras . No more need be said!

A wonderful meal was had by the three of us- we started with the Melange of Heirloom Beets, Duck liver pate, and the Native tomato and burratini salad. These were followed by the Tagliatelle Bolognaise and the Spiced Long Island Duck Breast was exceptional. We ended our meal with the Makao Cake (Chocolate Mousse) and Citrus Faicheur (Lemon Chiboust with berries). All courses were beautifully plated! They also have an extensive wine list which we enjoyed. The service was outstanding- very attentive.

They have a small outdoor dining area. The weather was great so we dined outdoors. The food was amazing, must try the gazpacho! Portion size was generous and we left very satisfied.

Great restaurant. Upscale, perfect service, amazing wine selection (for any price point from 12/glass to 3000/bottle). The food was tasty. Music was enjoyable, but not too loud, and both interior and the outdoor views were great. Will definitely be back to try the tasting menu!

I had to wait for the table.
The service was very poor to say the least.
It took an enormous amount of time between the appetizers and the entrees.
I had been at Deuxave many times before, but never to encounter such a bad experience as on Saturday September 1, 2018

Deuxave was disappointing. The food was fine. we had one salad that was unremarkable, a duck breast, a tartar/carpacio combo appetizer and a pasta Bolognaise, with wine and dessert.

Aside from the salad, the food was prepared flawlessly, but it was dull compared to our (much less expensive) dinner the night before at Field and Vine, or an even more esoteric dinner recently at Urban Hearth. The meal at Urban Hearth took many chances, some of which didn't pay off, but it was never dull. Deuxave plays it safe, perhaps because it's geared to the expense-account diner. If you're the kind of person who gets excited about a $1,500 bottle of wine, Deuxave is your place: They had quite a few at that price or higher.

Perhaps the biggest drawback was that we were packed into a closet-like alcove with a number of other couples, while the main dining area was nearly empty - perhaps because many people were sitting outdoors. The closet tables were so close that you could more easily talk to the table next to you than talk privately with your dining partner.

Finally, the pen the waiter handed me to sign the check was broken and I got black ink all over my hands. We got "sorry" and some wipes, which got most of the ink off. At $250 for two with tip, that doesn't strike me as outstanding or even "very good" service.

All in all, it seemed stuffy and pointlessly pretentious. I'm not sure how this place makes so many best-of lists,

Bravo Chef! Another outstanding meal worthy of a birthday celebration! The Wild Sea Bass, with it's lovely presentation, was so dreamy with the pouring of the corn sauce. Tasted like liquid corn! One diner in our group thoroughly enjoyed the lamb loin. Courteous, friendly, engaging and professional staff can't be beat. We'll come here again and again.

We were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and we were amazed at the quality of the food and the service. We even got a dessert that had chocolate with anniversary on it.

We don't get to go to Deuxave more than once or twice a year, but the food and the service never fail to make the evening a delicious and relaxing event. So we always make certain we go there, particularly when we can dine outdoors.

Every time we have dined here, we have had a fantastic time. Other restaurants should send their waitstaff and managers here to learn how to serve. It was attentive, proper, non-invasive and timely! Both our appetizers and main courses as well as a shared dessert were creative, unique, and incredibly flavorful. I look forward to our next visit.

We where there for our’s daugther birthday, finishing a 3 weeks roadtrip between USA and Canada, we had to return to France the next day.
We had a great lunch, we took the 5 courses menu with the « foie gras ».
For Parisians accustomed to "grandes tables", we found the dishes very good, cooking perfectly controlled and finally very pleasantly surprised.
On the other hand, we were a little surprised by the order of arrival of the dishes, unusual for us and the presence of a fish knife with the dessert, but it is really to make a criticism :)
