The manager, Emily, is excellent!! Very friendly and professional.
Outrageously good! My husband and I chose the tasting menu which we seldom do, and we were so glad we did. Every single thing was wonderful...perfectly cooked, served with just the right accompaniments, creative without being too much so and beautiful on the plate. The seared foie gras was one of the best I have ever had. We were blown away. This restaurant is very expensive, but for a rare treat it was worth it. Bravo!
Fabulous service as always. Wonderfully crafted dishes. Always the perfect spot for a special occasion.
This is the second time I have been to Deuxave. It was my girlfriend's birthday and wanted to take her somewhere nice. The restaurant is beautiful and the service and the staff was great and professional.
We got the tartare/carpaccio appetizer which was delicious. I got the duck breast entree, which was as amazing as wondering as I was hoping and expecting. She got the lamb entree. It was good, but did not live up to the expectations set up by the quality of everything else.
The one thing we were most disappointed about were the dinner rolls. Being a French restuarant, we were expecting a baguette or something. But the rolls were hard so it was a little bit of a let down. The burre de sel which came with the rolls was awesome and almost made up for it.
Overall, great meal. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you like French food (or if you are looking to try it). The restaurant is expensive, which is to be expected, so keep that in mind. Definitely will go again.
With a 7:00 curtain and a 5:00 opening I was uncertain that we had picked the correct pre theatre dining local but I was delightfully surprised. Our server greeted us promptly and took our beverage requests. The specialty cocktails were varied and the ones we chose were quite enjoyable. We placed our order after enjoying our drinks and very tasty freshly baked rolls. The appetizers were outstanding, fois gras beautifully seared and served with delicious foils, a take on gazpacho equally memorable, and a special escargot for Bastille Day was a delectable treat. Our meals for the evening were all plated perfectly and were matched by their varied flavors and textures. We did not have time for dessert with the rather early curtain time but we did return after the event to finish our dinning event and were more than satisfied with our final course as well. The three of us would highly recommend a visit and are looking forward to returning to dine again soon!
Lovely experience, would highly recommend
A perfect restaurant for a celebration! We went for my husband’s 70th birthday, and were given several sumptuous surprises to commemorate the occasion. Cuisine is creative, delicately prepared and beautifully presented. We had a wonderful experience.
Please note: not a traditional French restaurant.- more eclectic.
This was a wonderful dinner and the perfect setting / location to meet a good friend. It was a delightful meal and I am pleased to recommend it.
I had a fabulous meal at Deux Ave 2 years ago and wanted to bring the family to give them the experience. The service was very good. Our entrees were good for the most part but (with the exception of the person who ordered the duck) not great. The menu is highly overpriced--which would be fine if the food was still fabulous. But it was just good, not fabulous. I am afraid I had told them in advance that it would be great and kind of had egg on my face by dinner's end. Everyone was polite but left feeling the pretentiousness of the place overshadowed the love of good food.
When you plan your next trip to Boston to visit a restaurant at least to me you
know it is good. I still think about the asparagus appetizer which i tried to get the recipe for yet that was
a mistake since I knew it would be a secret. I married a Texan who knows how to cook a steak yet don't tell
him yet that steak is still in my thoughts...the sauces and the way it was cooked...oh my! Maybe my son can
go to college in the area so I can have that restaurant in my trips... when can I go back!!!
What a team of extremely friendly, and wonderful staff. We visited on the 4th of July, and the restaurant was pretty full, but the service was on point. The food was magnificent, and the portions were not too big.
Expensive but worth it, particularly for a special occasion.
One of the best restaurants in Boston!
Lovely place for a romantic evening. Food was exceptional. Service was outstanding. We would definitely come back!
First time, our anniversary. My wife had spiced duck, delicious, and very good sangria. I had lobster and gnocchi appetizer and a glass of Rhone white, and a Bordeaux with my lamb entree. We each had a wonderful summer salad. Great server, nice hostess, a supervisor who came over to check on us, big guys out front at valet stand who hold the door for you, very friendly. We'll be back.
Perhaps the best restaurant in the Boston area. The service, ambiance and food were nothing but outstanding.
Very friendly service by the waitstaff. Food was good and drinks were ok.
Deux Ave is one of our favorites because it combines a lovely atmosphere inside in the cosy bar area, the dining room or outside on the French bistro patio with twinkle lights. The food is always novel and beautifully done. The wine selection is great. Within the area, we think of it as our local secret.
Deuxave is really good and used to be my favorite restaurant in Boston. I've noticed a few changes during this trip. The food remains delicious and the ambiance lovely. I'd suggest the interiors are probably ready for an update, however. Also, it would be helpful to have more approachable wines on the list. There are very few under $100 and lots in the four-figure range. While the wine list is certainly impressive, I like to go to Deuxave and drink wine when it's not a special occasion. Also, this time the service was not as attentive as during my past visits -- the staff didn't notice empty plates or glasses (even though we put them on the edge of the table) and service was definitely more casual. Deuxave may be changing it's formal past to a more easy style but it's not reflected in the food or pricing. Overall, Deuxave is still yummy and I'll go back!
The lam and crispy duck were amazing. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
It's very pretty--and so nice to eat outside. With that said, the food was mediocre at best. they got our order wrong--and overcooked what they did send out. the dessert was tasteless. it was our anniversary, so we were pretty disappointed overall. We both agreed the wines were GREAT. It's just that everything else was blah.
We very much enjoyed our evening at Deuxave, and the lesson in how to pronounce it from our waiter who was great. Food was great, foie gras was seared perfectly, wild salmon and the halibut were delicious and prepared perfectly. The warm rolls to start were delicious and yeasty. We will be back next time we're in Boston.
We enjoyed our evening at Deuxave! From the service to the excellent duck breast , everything was superb! A delay in our dessert order resulted in a complimentary glass of beautiful sparkling wine! A nice touch... thank you, Deuxave!
Superb evening. Not too noisy. Excellent food and service.
Superb service. Fine table. Outstanding meal. Warm and friendly atmosphere.
Great place for a fancy date if you don't go on many fancy dates!
Interrupted incessantly. I think servers were being polite but they would interrupt us regularly during a business dinner.
We come frequently. This is one of the best neighborhood restaurants in boston. easy to stop in early and grab a seat at the bar and have dinner and enjoy conversation. Later, reservations are needed for the tables. If it's your first time, have the duck. : )
This place is amazing!!!
From the time they greet you at the door all the way to them getting your car is flawless!!!!
Went for our wedding anniversary. We were promptly seated at what seemed an especially nice table for 2 with large wingback chairs. Alas, these big comfy chairs aren’t so well suited to eating; we had to sit up on the edges to eat. Nothing came to the table for a bit, but then a friendly waiter greeted us with "welcome back." (Did someone really track that we had eaten there a few years ago?). We ordered drinks, and our meal. We were seated a full 45 minutes before our first course came. My wife loved her foie gras; my burrata was a somewhat odd presentation; it was submerged in "tomato water," something not mentioned on the menu, and making it something of a cold soup. I wouldn’t get it again. Main courses arrived promptly after that, but our waiter forgot that I had suggested we might like a glass of wine with dinner. Indeed, where was our waiter? I asked the server to bring back the wine list; the wines actually arrived when we were a third through our main courses. My wife’s salmon was terrific; it was very lightly cooked, and she couldn’t finish it, even with help from me. My rib-eye steak was cooked perfectly, and it was tasty, but didn’t look the least bit like a rib-eye. It looked like a large cube of sirloin, with little, if any, marbling. We got dessert menus, and then, we lost our waiter again. We had to grab the roving hostess to get him to return to the table. The Dark Chocolate Crèmeux was a memorable dessert. Great chocolate, and lots of different textures. As others have noted, this is not an inexpensive restaurant, and while it had several big pluses, the more-than-occasional lapses in service and presentation weren’t up to this high a price tag.
We had an amazing experience at Deuxave. The food quality, service, and decor are all notably excellent. Seated at an outdoor table, we enjoyed each and every course including a great cheese plate at the end. The sommelier helped us select a wine from the huge selection offered. This might be my favorite meal since moving to Boston two years ago. We will be back!
Birthday dinner for my wife.
One of the best restaurants in Boston and I've been to plenty
This was our third visit at this restaurant and it never failed to deliver an outstanding experience. The restaurant is clearly making an effort to maintain high standards on all fronts, food quality, service and ambiance. The restaurant was very busy on a weekday night. We enjoyed the experience and will return.
Always enjoy a meal with friends here. Good food, beautiful presentation and exceptional waitstaff
Food is always phenomenal — inspired and fresh. Service is friendly and sophisticated. Deuxave is absolutely one of our favorites. Sat outside on a lovely evening!
Very good food and drinks. Don't miss the duck confit, and ask the Sommelier for a wine pairing for whatever you order. Service is a bit slow, so allow extra time.
Was some inattentiveness but was recognized and comped the wine!!!
Deuxave provided quality food and great service! It's not as fine dining as you may think, given the way it looks from the outside. It's a great restaurant overall and I would suggest this place for celebrating any special occasion!
Deuxave was the perfect place for the 4 of us to celebrate 2 separate anniversaries, one a 50th!! By choosing the Chef's Tasting Menu and each couple sharing a Wine Pairing, we had a fabulous overview of the Best of Deuxave, all served by a charming, knowledgeable wait-staff. We 4 wanted a memorable evening: this was not one whit "ordinary". Each of the 5 courses was delicious, presented beautifully and wonderfully enhanced by the wine selected to accompany it.
As proof of the charmed evening that it would be, the weather was extraordinary, too, supplying us with a perfect "Goldilocks" evening!
