The food was far below our expectations. Vegetables tasted like they had been cooked hours earlier rather than to order. Chicken was very dry; steak was under cooked.
Brought our group of twenty somethings in for a festive dinner and the service was amazing as was the food. Will definitely go again
Very happy with the experience. The menu was varied and different without being pretentious, the scallops were outstanding as was the sauce served with it. The chicken was a bit dry - not as moist as it might have been but certainly acceptable. Ambience and light level were perfect and very comfortable. Our waitress was a bit slow but very pleasant. The noise level was low. We were seated next to a large party and we barely heard them. A definite keeper - will go back,
Clearly, the staff are interested in creating a wonderful dining experience. Fine dining at its best.
Returning customer because of the food and service was excellent . The staff on a every busy Holiday did everything possible to satisfy our requests. On my next trip to Boston I intend to enjoy the dinning experience again!
Thanksgiving in a French restaurant is a bit out of the ordinary, but not at Deuxave! Along with the paired wine for each course it was a spectacular meal. My waiter, Bryce, was a big part of my experience. He was knowledgeable about the wines and took time to tell me about them in some detail. My starter, duck confit, was very good and the wine, a pinot champagne was a great fit. Along with all the "fixins" for the turkey were French style green beans (haricot vert) which were perfectly cooked, along with a nice smooth red wine. My dessert, Apple Tatin, was nicely spiced and accompanied by a sweet sauternes. Outstanding!
Nice staff, excellent service, but as this was my 2nd time in two years, I can now proclaim it to be OVERPRICED!
Yes, despite it’s being a Thanksgiving meal, each of us ordering the $99 three-course dinner with one alcoholic beverage. Both desserts were delicious and had a nice presentation, but each of us found the portions to be SKIMPY!
I don’t know what the day-to-day fare costs, but having paid twice, I don’t plan to return unless the check is on someone else.
Very expensive for what you get, service so so
We did not like it
As always - the professionalism from Deuxave was first class! Service, food and ambience all perfectly executed from start to finish. Deuxave is a very special restaurant and they make you feel like you are the only ones dining there! Excellent as always and please keep it up! Cheers.
Exceptional experience. Food was very creative, delicious and beautifully presented. French cuisine but not overdone with sauces..perfectly complemented. Fantastic service. Bartender even recreated a drink for my husband that he had there when they first opened, made by a bartender named Francis. Manager came over and told us what Francis was up to. Just a perfect evening with outstanding food, and service I would describe as professional with warmth.
Very pleasant evening with my significant other
Nice atmosphere, good food - bit salty, though. Good restaurant to go to if you want to impress someone.
Love this place -- Great food and great service! We loved our appetizers --the French onion soup and the octopus special.
Fabulous ambiance, first class service, amazing wine list and great food!
This is our go yto Birthday restaurant!!! Never disappointed!!!!
Deauave is always the right choice - from casual drinks with a friend at the bar to a special evening out - they do it all seamlessly.
In reviewing this menu prior to arriving, i was exceptionally curious what a $19 french onion soup would taste like. Dont waist your time or $19, it was so salty I didnt even care to finish. And at least i was expecting a bowl size and not the cup size served, b uh t then again I would have left more without finishing. The rack of lamb was quite tastey and tender.
Party of 3 last Friday night. Food was VERY good and service was great. Seated promptly at our reserved time. Appetizers: Beef tartare, Duck confit and Duck pate were delish. Mains: Scallops, Tagliatelle
bolognaise and Duck breast were also great. Leftover Tagliatelle was even better the next day. Place was full but bar service (cocktails & wine) was quick.
Only problem was the valet parking: One poor guy was trying to do it all and fell behind, thus long waits.
Definitely going back but OMG, What to have?
I found the food to be average and unexciting
I have had frozen 1/2 hr onion soup from Cosco that was as good as the”9 hr” version served .
The food was fine but not fit for a restaurant with such a big reputation. It is much too expensive vis a vis the quality of food. The service was excellent, the space is beautiful and it was very quiet and romantic.
Fantastic service and food was unbelievable. They’re known for the duck and I know why, really good. Best we’ve had. It was my wife’s birthday and I wanted it to be special for her. The manager stepped up and had my wife’s special bottle of champagne they don’t carry waiting at our table per my request. It was a great experience.
We had a great dinner at Deuxave. But don't get the tortellini with truffles. $54 for 4 tortellini -- and although their were big sheets of truffle, it really was not aromatic at all. Very disappointing. Our main courses -- the lamb and the duck -- were outstanding, however. We had some wines by the glass -- very nicely matched to our meals, and quite reasonably priced considering the rest of the prices! Desserts were good, but not extraordinary. The service was exceptional. So -- nice place for a splurge, stay away from the truffles, and enjoy!
This was our second visit to Deuxave to celebrate special occasions. It’s just that type of place for a quiet and super-quality meal with great service and a friendly atmosphere. It’s a bit pricey but that’s what special occasions are for! We’ll definitely be going back for the next celebration!
Absolutely an incredible experience, such thoughtful and kind waitor
Always love this place. Food is always consistently good and wine selections are outstanding. For wines they have a book of full bottles and a page or two of half bottles with age.
Deuxave is one of those restaurants that aims higher and misses, so it becomes just another, not memorable, pricey restaurant. It isn't that they don't try hard, it's just that it feels like they are so popular that they've settled.
Wonderful meal, especially the pasta with white truffles. Now my favorite new French cuisine in Boston.
Always a fantastic meal and wonderful experience! We were celebrating our anniversary with our service-puppy-in-training in tow and they could not have been more welcoming.
Deuxave was definitely a mixed experience, and a bit disorienting, given that the combination of food quality, service, ambiance, and value all felt out of sync. It felt a bit like the restaurant is trying to be something it simply is not. The service is probably the best part of the experience. The waiter definitely knew the menu very well, was very attentive, and had a very formal manner. Yet to have all that going for him and then present us with a strange combination of plates from "Chef" (not "the chef" lol) that didn't match in terms of taste, value and description was bizarre. The duck entree was chewy and unflavorful. The salad was a strange array of a few greens and crispy things. The chicken entree was delicious, yet strangely arranged on only one side of the plate. I guess this was supposed to be artistic, but it made us laugh given all the incongruities. The ambience was nice, but odd, too. A row of more modern tables squished into the back wall, preceded by larger round tables with huge living room like chairs. I think this restaurant needs to rethink its overall concept if it is to survive long term. Until it does, I don't recommend going.
Outstanding food and service. Great spirit selection, and not overpriced. Entrees are delicious and filling, despite the price. Small selection, but each dish has clearly been highly refined. 9/10 would definitely recommend.
Everything about Deuxave is exquisite - amazingly wonderful food, excellent service, quiet and appealing decor. We have been here many times and it is always a treat. Outstanding, highly recommend.
Some items were outstanding and some were somewhat bland. I would give this 4.5 stars.
Great experience. Will our server was attentive
Consistently good, innovative dishes. Their pasta dishes are cooked perfectly. Never had a bad meal there.
Food was outstanding. Wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced for the area. Bar service was very attentive, though, unfortunately I forget the name of the bartender, but she was great. Will be back soon!
The place to go for four gras and duck breast in Boston. If you are not into either, there are plenty of other tasty options.
The food was great, but pricey! The duck was outstanding, probably the best we have had and prepared to perfection. The scallop plate was excellent, with unusual ingredients that made it quite special.
What a disappointing night. So many things did not live up to my prior visits. I had invited friends to “my favorite restaurant” and had to apologize. The food, as usual was well thought out and beautifully presented. The dining room was not the calm atmosphere as in other visits. It was loud (lots of spills and broken glasses) and the staff seemed disorganized. At our table of five, we had two people delivering the courses. Not ONE was presented to the right person. We all had to hand around the dishes to the appropriate places. We had to request water refills and then the water never arrived. We shared water by the end. Cocktails and wines were ordered and took a very, very long time to arrive (the bar was busy, but this should be taken into account when staffing).
After years of praise and recommendations for Deuxave, I will not recommend again.
Felt rushed and the service staff, not the actual server, needed more training, surprising for an expensive restaurant.
The food was excellent and unique
They nailed the food -- perfectly cooked and seasoned steak and chicken. Service was attentive, and when we told them we needed to leave in a hurry to make the symphony they brought the check before I could even get my wallet out. I will certainly be back!
