This is one of my neighborhood great places but is also a favorite of many friends who live in other areas of the city. Everyone universally enjoys the experience, the food and service. It comes highly recommended by me for both dinner and weekend brunch.
Reliable place with very good food and nice ambience allowing adults to actually hear each other without screaming. This is not always a given unless one goes to Daniel or other expensive places of such fame and Deux Amis certainly allows one to enjoy a great meal and a conversation at once without an overly priced menu!
pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and price points! Friendly staff and cute decor made the evening very nice.
Love this cozy, quiet, neighborhood bistro - you could think you were in a residential neighborhood in Paris! Service is terrific - provided by skilled and seasoned servers who let you sit and savor your meal and companions for a long time if you want. Noise level is manageable - at least on week nights, though tables are very close together. Food is authentically French, traditional, good. Go for a tasty meal in a comfortable room and ask for a corner table. Bon Appetit!
We went for Valentine's Day. I had the lobster, it was inedible. Both tables surrounding us sent their food back. I would not recommend this place at all.
Felt like I went to Paris for the night—- intimate, cozy, lovely room. Helpful, fun, warm waitress. Excellent food — very fresh and perfectly prepared and great value. Tables are close together so might be tight on a crowded night.
This neighborhood French (and cous cous!) restaurant has been here for years and is always wonderful.I don't know who's doing the cooking, but it's always wonderful.Great menu choices, great service.great food and a lovely small neighborhood place. This was the site of first date (very romantic) and we keep coming back here year after year.Love it!
Great neighborhood spot
Great neighborhood spot for authentic French food. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Will definitely eat here again.
The best waitress in NYC
Always has a smile and remembers your beverage of choice
Deuce Amis is a hidden gem. I felt as if I were eating classic French bistro food on the left bank. The escargot are wonderful, but the onion tart is superb. The steak aux poivre is perfectly prepared and a classic favorite. Small, cozy and romantic.
One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. Took out-of-town friends, who had never been there before. Perfect place to catch up at a leisurely dinner with good food & great service - we were made to feel welcome.
Food was mediocre at best place was empty server was very nice otherwise don't bother
This restaurant had great reviews and an interesting menu. Very disappointing!! The food was mediocre at best. Not terrible but certainly not worth the money.
We always enjoy going to this little bistro for brunch. A little bit like going back to Paris.
Service was lovely. Hangar steak and fish special were excellent. Coq au vin not so good. My husband didn't finish it. Pea soup starter was fine, not thick.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. The food is good, service is good. It is a cozy, adorable restaurant. It is too bad that it is not opened for lunch. We were six ladies and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I have been there for Saturday brunch and it is excellent.
Loved this hidden GEM in Manhattan...food amazing, ambiance beautiful and it made my special occasion more special! Thank you to Mary from Omni Berkshire Place concierge that recommended it!
we come here often. It is always friendly and the food is really good. Can totally recommend this really nice place.
A wonderful neighborhood gem. Just as excellent as those hidden Parisian bistros.
It was the best choice. Meeting an old and special friend. Don't get to see one another too often - first time we went to Fred's at Barneys - it was great but noisy and way too expensive. Next time we went to Bloomingdales, The Train - that was great - but now it is closed. So I chose Amaranth but then realized it would be toooo noisy. Then remembered DEUX AMI and made the reservation. It was beyond PERFECT!!! Everything about it was wonderful. It was snowing and bitter cold outside - but inside was warm and inviting - the Christmas decorations added to the already great ambiance. The service was excellent, the restaurant was busy, but the noise level was just perfect. We had a long lunch - we were not rushed and to top everything off - the food was great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I thank them for a lovely warm afternoon on a bitter cold day.
This is a delightful restaurant. I've been here many times and each time it does not disappoint.
Has become a "go to" place in Manhattan Never disappoints.
I loved this place. I'd never been here before but it was one of the few places open on Christmas. From the outside I wondered if I made a mistake because it's nondescript exterior didn't match the lovely intimate interior. When I went inside I was greeted by a friendly woman who took my coat, took me to my table, at the time they were just opening for dinner so I had my choice of tables. The decor was nice and had a french feel to it. It was not too large and I prefer small intimate spaces without loud music or the young trendy crowd. It was one of the few times I couldn't choose a dish because they all sounded so good. After being told the specials, my date choose lamb and eventually I settled on the short ribs. As we waited more people started filing in but the ambiance remained unchanged. The bread was good, warm, a bit harder than I like, but the wine list was pretty extensive and I found the prices reasonable for its location. We had two entrees, 4 glasses of wine, 3 desserts and it cost about $150. We're definitely going back because I want to sample the duck and steak.
Very good food. Complain about the check: I ordened a Wine, and have been charged for another. Check immediatly changed.
Table of 7 next two us being so loud my wife and I could not talk. Server said she would ask them to be quieter but plainly she did not. Very obnoxious people.
Food is quite good. Wine by the glass only acceptable.
Prices are quite reasonable.
Deux Amis is a cozy restaurant and was a perfect choice for our special dinner for eight. Our server was top notch! The menu offered many choices and everything we ordered from appetizers to entrees was delicious (esp. the puff pastry appetizer, the filet mignon and the coq au vin). Sadly we were too full for dessert!
We felt we had discovered a gem in NYC. We liked the reviews and decided to give it a try. My couscous (a particular favorite) and my wife's bronzino were both among the best we've ever eaten. Surprisingly quiet for lunch on Saturday (no complaints) but excellent service added to a very enjoyable meal. We will definitely go back.
We booked for a group of 11 people as a surprise birthday party for my wife. They did not honor our reservation time which completely ruined the surprise we had planned, the waitress proceeded to be rude and could not be bothered to listen to anyone, she would take one persons drink order at a time and walk away ignoring the rest trying to order. When I eventually walked over and asked nicely if she could please see her way to just showing some common decency as it’s a birthday party for my pregnant wife, it got met with a sarcastic “sure” and a walk away. This was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had and will be telling every person I know NEVER to go to this place again. There was not a manager or owner in sight. It was so bad one of party guest looked up if it’s a themed restaurant where the waitress is suppose to be rude to the table because it was unbelievable. The only reason we stayed is because another waitress took over midway through.
We had a fabulous experience here. The walk is safe and not far from all of the New York City bustle. But here you are out of the bustle, warm, and cozy. I had the Bronzini (cooked crispy with lovely sauce), and my husband had the skirt steak. His was best I have to say. What a lovely experience.
Wonderful spot! Food was great and service perfect! Will definitely be back.
best tasting couscous, close to the way my mom used to make it , thank you ,and the flan was the same she made it...now if only you could make mackroud deserts that would be grand.......thank you for the great time....
We dine here frequently. The food is consistently well prepared. The service is impeccable. The price is very reasonable. The ambiance is lovely. It reminds us of a favorite restaurant of ours in Paris. I highly recommend it.
Still the quiet, hidden-treasure neighborhood bistro. Reminds me of those little Parisian restaurants.
Wonderful East Side neighborhood bistro, our favorite in Manhattan for over a decade. Authentic French food at a markedly fair price. Staff are superb, welcoming, warm, professional.
Had a great dinner the other night.. everything was superb. The service was excellent and menu authentic... thought I was in Paris. Highly recommend!
Very cozy restaurant with neighborhood ambiance. We really enjoyed the Steak au Poivre :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food was presented creatively, was delicious, and there were so many different choices. We ordered different entrees and were able to share them because portions were very ample. The ambiance was very cozy and comfortable. It gave mind to authentic restaurants in France. The service was outstanding and the bloody mary was the best ever. A very pleasant evening, for a reasonable price with very good friends.
Very nice atmosphere. Food was quite good. One of my favorite spots. One of the few pleasant restaurants where you can hear yourself talk.
Had the short ribs, the best. Friend had the beouf bourginone. Her first time and bringing visitors from .CA. Another had the steak. No raves there. Highly recommend for any occasion.
I am an old fan of this neighborhood French bistro. Les Deux Amis always has had consistently good food at reasonable prices in an ambiance that echoes cozy Paris establishments.
