This is a charming little French restaurant. Lovely ambiance, good food and excellent service.
Very quaint and comfortable authentic French restaurant.
Loved our meal- escargot to die for. Wine excellent, fish was superb and presentation creative. No hovering over us or rushing to get us out. A very friendly and relaxing place.
Will be back certainly!
Pleasant wait staff. Just the right amount of service.
Food was excellent. Well worth the price. The price itself is very good for fine French food. The wine list is reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
Best neighborhood Bistro in NY. Wonderful service, terrific food, just a very special place with a great ambience
it is my neighborhood go to . The food is always good , service extremely pleasant and warm ambiance.
The location, the food, the staff - all top notch. We love the familiar feel and the true French Bistro atmosphere of this wonderful neighborhood spot.
it’s ok if your focus is on quiet time to talk with your friends. The food was terrible and the service (not the main waitress) was totally misinformed, lousy manners.
I simply have to say that I just love the place. I very much like the wait staff and the menu is outstanding and the food is cooked to perfection. It is a great restaurant for any occasion.
We had an excellent meal at Deux Amis. The menu listed all French Bistro favorites. I had the short ribs and my husband coq au vin - pure comfort food. We will definitely eat there again.
As always, the food is delicious and authentic tasting. Tables are up against each other but once you start eating you don't really notice.
Great neighborhood spot. Food is always good, good value and attentive staff.
Love Deux Amis. Consistently good. Never rushed. Never disappointed.
The restaurant was small and cozy and good ambience but the service was haphazard at best. The wait staff seemed disconnected and the only time we got attention was when we flagged someone down. The food was just ok. I had the branzino and it was definitely past its prime In spite of all of this the restaurant was packed. Maybe it was just an off night. May or may not go back.
The filet mignon was tough and inedible! I ordered the poulet and it was dry, the food is usually 5 stars so eating there on NEW YEARS EVE isn’t a good idea
Deux Amis was recommended to us by a friend who eats there regularly.
We wanted to experience a typical French restaurant and food. We were not disappointed, the food and service were excellent and we will certainly return.
Unfortunately the crowd was mostly older folks so definitely not a swinging spot.
This is my go-to neighborhood French restaurant. Even when I haven’t been to the restaurant for a while. The staff remembers.
excellent neighborhood restaurant, except very noisy, even on a Monday.
Had a good experience there six years ago. This time, very disappointing. The restaurant was short at least one waiter/waitress. So service slow. The waitress herself belonged in a truckstop café. My date had the fish, which she found good. I had the Bolognese--too much pasta, a pile of it! And too little sauce for so much pasta. And the sauce itself very ordinary. A very noisy birthday party created a din.
I live in the neighborhood, and I would not go again.
Love the omelet just wish there was more variety on the menu. I get the same omelet every time.
Maybe an omelet with Gruyere with mushrooms and spinach. Or even do a frittata with mixed vegetables?
Lovely neighborhood restaurant with interesting menu and delicious food. Highly recommend.
i have been at Deux Amix twice now and i really like it. excellent little bistro!
Had not dined at Deux Amis in a while and since it's in the neighborhood thought I would give it a try.
The place is a little tired looking and could really use some updating on their menu and decor. While the service is pleasant, the food is merely adequate. Do not think I would revisit again.
This is one of our go-to neighborhood restaurants. The food, service and ambiance are always good.
Deux Amis is a neighborhood favorite for denizens of midtown east. A nice place to break bread with a significant other, good friends and even alone. Good service and a menu that is tasty enough to celebrate a special event. Crowd tends to be boomers and x-geners. Millennial have yet to discover this place.
Chose Deux Amis for our Thanksgiving meal. They did have what looked like an excellent Prix Fixe Turkey Dinner but we chose the French Onion Soup, Streak au Poivre and Boeuf Bourguignon followed by a desert of Profiteroles. Authentic and delicious!
Found this on our last night in Manhattan. Really wonderful local restaurant with friendly service, very cozy dining room, and affordable food that was quite good. The steak poivre was great, the escargot old school french, the duck confit was TWO legs perfectly done and the wine list was reasonable. A great find and we were very, very happy we found it.
We had visited this restaurant before but were very disappointed this time. I had fish which was clearly not fresh. It had that fishy smell that happens as it gets older. The fish were accompanied by potatoes that were pretty nondescript. The wine list is not what you would expect for a French restaurant. I believe they had as many CA wines as French wines and the selection of wines by the glass was really lacking. My companion had chicken which he felt was well prepared. However it was accompanied by some very bland scalloped potatoes. Will not be visiting again. As many good restaurants as there are in the city, no need to waste your time here.
My husband and I love this restaurant and we go there once a week after work. This is a very friendly and unpretentious place, with nice food and the service is impeccable. They have a way of making you feel cared for and special.
Overall very good food; however, the sauce on the escargot was very watery. We were accustomed to escargot being served in buttery garlic sauce, but this sauce fell short. Otherwise the food was very good, excellent wine list, service and ambiance were excellent. Once inside you could imagine being in a Parisian bistro. Great neighborhood find!
Lovely place. Very old-fashioned. Consistently good.
We enjoyed sharing a nice dinner here with a friend. The food was delicious and nicely presented. It was noisy when a large group came in.
On a rainy evening after seeing the film 'Colette' t we found the restaurant was warm and the staff was welcoming. We selected couscous and fish from the many delicious options, and plan to return to sample more.
Fabulous warm helpful staff. Great food and generous portions. Will definitely return.
One of our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Service is friendly and efficient.
Food is consistently very good. Cozy and comfortable ambiance.
Disappointed. Food was a let down and staff wasn’t friendly. It’s our honeymoon and we really wanted a romantic and special French meal. Def a let down all around. The only good thing was the escargot!!!
Deux Amis is a neighborhood gem and never fails to deliver delicious bistro fare and friendly, personal service. Try the couscous.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant and more! Terrific ambiance and friendly staff.
I’ve been a long-term fan of Deux Amis since it opened. This visit the four of us attacked different parts of the menu: one had the veal risotto (excellent); another had the lamb couscous (fabulous); a third had beef Bourgingnon (he loved it); and our fourth member of the party played it safe with salmon (which he swore was delicious). This restaurant never disappoints!
It’s trying really hard and it’s nice. But the food was a bit bland. Sorry. We really wanted to love it.
