The restaurant is small & Fridays are very busy. noise level high due mostly to a table of 6 near us. Wait staff small. Did their best in narrow space. My onion tart was so-so. But our entrees were very good. I would go back on anther night.

A warm and friendly neighborhood bistro with excellent food and service. The stuffed figs were outstanding and the seafood was fresh and delicious. The French music and decor create an inviting ambience. Highly recommended.

I believe that this restaurant is over-rated and over-priced. Customer service was suboptimal. There is inadequate training for satisfactory customer service. For example, when taking food orders, the attention was focused on the male and not the female customer. I felt dismissed and not acknowledged. Additionally, there is a paucity of smiles. The facial expression was more of a snarl or grimace when asking for assistance. Food did not meet the high standard I was expecting for a highly rated resto. The beef stew was rubbery and not tender. I had a poor experience overall and needed redemption in another restaurant for customer satisfaction.

Classically decorated like a local neighbourhood bistro in France. Food was nicely done and the pre-fixe was good value. Service was very good as well - flexible with substitutions and friendly. Would come again; esp in nicer weather.

We had a wonderful experience at Deux Amis. We were visiting New York, and looking for a well priced, delicious French meal, and after research, chose Deux Amis. We were all delighted with the choice. Food was delicious and a very good value. The chef kindly made a Croque Madame for my 15-year-old daughter even though that dish is not on the dinner menu. The warm rolls and butter served before the meal were excellent. We loved the ambience of a lively French brasserie straight out of Paris! Overall, an excellent choice.

This is a very nice neighborhood bistro. A nice, relaxed atmosphere with good food. A perfect place to meet up with a friend and chat over lunch. The food is good. The french onion soup had an herb added I hadn't expected - thyme I think. It was surprising and I think I would have preferred it not be added, but was still a good soup on a frightfully chilly winter's day. (Or almost winter.) The tossed salad was fresh and the dressing was perfect. Coupled with a nice glass of Chardonnay, it made for a very lovely afternoon indeed. We topped it off with really delicious profiteroles and cappuccinos. Quite naughty for two aging ladies who are both in need of a diet - but oh so good. :)

Deux Amis is an absolute gem. The food is traditional French, very well prepared, and served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Service in unfailingly friendly and professional. In today's world of inflated prices, this restaurant remains an excellent value for the money. As an unexpected extra (having nothing to do with French food), they serve the best Martini in Midtown East.
