Great food, great drinks and most importantly wonderful service! My dining partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Deterra. We each ordered amazing appetizers followed by half shares of pasta. Our server, Brian, recommended the Left Bank cocktail for me. Wow, absolutely fantastic!
Deterra is a great place to go before going to The Ambler Movie Theater or the Act II Playhouse, both of which are right across the street.
My only criticism of my evening would be the noise level. If you’re coming here for an intimate dinner, perhaps choosing the outside space would be best.
Wonderful service, delicious food. Restaurant week offered very good choices and we enjoyed the wine pairing aspect of the meal.
Dettera is always on the list of my recommendations. Please get larger hot water (tea) pots.
Mike and Kenny are great!
The last 2 times I have eaten here the waiter just disappears for 15 minutes. It is bizarre. Food is pretty good. Staff is generally friendly. I just continue to get poor service. Also, the young people who pour water interrupt your conversation every few minutes to ask if anyone needs more water. Just fill the glasses that need filling and coordinate a little bit so we don’t get interrupted every few minutes by a different person.
I love this place! Friendly and professional service and a mouth watering menu! The wine list is divine!
We were at Deterra during restaurant week and so their fine food was a real bargain. It was also possible to order from the regular menu which our friends did. The service really stood out.
This restaurant delivers consistent quality and has offered several special items like small plates which is an attractive option. It is a bit pricey but options such the restaurant week menu add to its attractiveness.
We’ll be back!
Ate outside on the front terrace. It was a bit tight but otherwise lovely. Great meal during Restaurant Week. Very good service too!
Service and food was excellent and the outdoor seating was super cute!
Excellent creative food. Lovely servers. Warm, friendly.
Bartender was great.. food was good. Server seemed to want to rush us through our service even though it was a pretty slow night.
It was especially noisy in the restaurant, however the waiter was great although service was slow [perhaps due to the party]. We'll try the restaurant again when it's "party-free."
This place was incredible, food drink service....definitely the beginning of many more reservations to come 😊
First time at this fabulous restaurant and it won't be our last! The creativity of the chef and bartender was evident. Our server Michael was outstanding. Thank you for making our anniversary so special with complementary champagne as well.
Our waiter was one of the most obviously disinterested service staff I ever encountered.
The food was very good, we both had different fish entrees and they were both very tasty and arrived warm. My dinner consisted of a slice of fish with a bit of corn kernels and 5 halves of the smallest baby potatoes I ever saw...
We were both extremely grateful for the bread...it was filling..
We found this restaurant to be a big disappointment !!The portions did not warranted the prices; neither one of us is a "big eater" and yet we cleaned our plates and left hungry.
When asked at the end , by or server "how was everything?" I told him that the food was good BUT the portions were ridiculously small, he gave me a blank stare and left our table with the check and his much too large tip !!
I will not recommend nor visit this restaurant again.
I’ve been to Dettera at least 35 times and I’ve never had a bad experience. Great food, attentive service, nice atmosphere.
Eat here regularly. Everything always delicious. Great staff, bartenders and hosts. Tuna tartare with egg my personal favorite.
Amazing food. Place is the best.
The food was excellent- creative options. Service was superb.
Dinner was delicious and service was great. Would definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion. Love the atmosphere!
This is a great restaurant. The wine selection is incredible. The food is phenomenal - especially the Scallops, Tile fish, Oysters and all the desserts. We love this restaurant for special occasions, date nights and when we want to impress someone from out of town. We are always pleased with the service. All the servers we've had are professional and friendly. The only issue we had was parking on our last visit. We drove around for quite some time and couldn't find anything.
We highly recommend Dettera Restaurant & Wine Bar anytime you are looking for an exquisite meal, great service and fabulous desserts.
We read reviews about the slow service and I have to admit I agree We were a table of 5 and were there for 2 1/2 hours for dinner. Not sure if the delay was in the kitchen or what but our waiter seemed to have quite a few tables. The food was very good and the ambience was very nice but I think it's too pricey given the slow service.
This is quite unfortunate to write this review, however it is deserving of the low score. The waiter was so inattentive we lost our appetites and wanted to leave. He was missing for long periods of time. The noise is so loud even with a request to quieter table it was a challenge. When I go out for dinner I want to talk to my husband and have a conversation which is basically impossible.
The service the worst I have experienced.
It was our first time there and we loved it. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and informative, the ambiance was lovely. Can't wait to go back.
Food is very good. Portions somewhat small. Menu is limited. Very tasty, but somewhat expensive for portion size.
Okay but not Great. Hostess was rude and acted like she didn't want to be there. Very Good Kennett Square Pizza.
Great drinks! Food was good but portions were small.
Scallop appetizer was delicious, oysters very fresh. Duck was in large chunks, pretty chewy. Accompanying white asparagus and fiddleheads sparse but perfectly cooked. Husband’s pork chop O.K., not great, with 9 or ten fava beans. Nice place, and not a bad meal, but not sure the value is there. Would go again to try pizza or small plates.
Great food. Great wine. Great service!
The Duroc Pork chop was excellent... Like pork should be but so often is not.
The food was exceptionally good. The service was excellent. Drinks were mixed properly. However, the noise from the bar was unpardonably loud, and I've been to many loud restaurants in my day! The was a group of 4 women, obviously inebriated, SHRIEKING AND SQUEALING at the top of their lungs for the full 90 minutes of our meal. We asked the waiter to ask them to tone it down to no avail. We observed another couple come in to eat at the bar who promptly left without ordering because of the noise. We don't understand why gourmet food is wasted on a group of clients who are there only to get drunk and scream and annoy the rest of us. This is sad because the food was great and we came from Philadelphia to join our friends who live nearby. WE WILL NOT BE BACK
Chef Jeff Powers strikes every time with such amazing food. Tuna tartar is a signature that's unmatched. The bar makes fantastic drinks. Awesome fun atmosphere, definitely get what you pay for.
All around a good experience.
First time here and it was a pleasant experience. The menu was s but limited, though.
Experience was nice but the menu is limited and not very appealing.
Enjoyed the food, the ambiance was great. There was no large selection of foods on the menu, but the meal I received was enjoyable. Just wish there was more to offer
First time to this self proclaimed Wine Bar. Selection of wine by glass was medium in scope and diversity. Waiter was very good, but was admittedly a little untrained in wine selection, yet was able say so and to be helpful nonetheless after consulting with others on our behalf. Seated upstairs in overly generous table with other tables seemingly far away... somewhat spacious and suburban. Not used to that, personally, just felt strange. Food was good, but somewhat expensive and small portions... $36/doz for smaller Wellfleet oysters seems steep. Final bill with a couple appetizers, a salad, pizza and a few glasses of wine for 2 of us for about $120... Outdoor dining spaces do look exceptional, and would go back on a nice summer evening.
The food and service were amazing. We were there on Mother’s Day and the staff handled the guests with ease!
Was very nice mothers day brunch. Only complaint is they should have informed guests that the drinks were not part of the fixed price menu.
Great food and attentive staff. Kenny, our server, was knowledgeable about the drink menu and food menu. Food was fantastic.
Quick excellent service, every course perfect, range of menu options perfect for everyone, this was a great experience for the whole family.
