Desnuda - Brooklyn
With careful attention to ingredients, atmosphere and service, we strive to bring our customers a uniquely enjoyable experience at Desnuda in the heart of Williamsburg.
Desnuda Brooklyn was excellent. We had previously been to Desnuda in East Village and loved its grungey cool vibe, with excellent food and service. Desnuda Brooklyn took it up a notch, with a lovely, clean, cool interior, with a few separate nooks for tables and a bar to keep it interesting. We sat at the front counter and fully enjoyed the energy of the kitchen staff. Those guys were totally hustling, cranking out great dish after great dish, bang on time, every time. Great energy. The drinks took a little longer to be served by the bar staff, though it probably did us a favour to savour the pisco sours a little longer.
My favorite restaurant in Williamsburg. Creative dishes, fantastic flavors and lovely ambiance.
This place checks all the boxes! Amazing food, all quality ingredients and if you get the bar seats you can watch the chef cook your meal right in front of you which i found amusing. The vibe inside was classy yet youthful. The drinks were lovely as well, I highly recommend the Pisco Sour! This place is perfect for any occasion, date night, dinner and drinks with your gfs, or a small group of friends. What a little hidden gem this place is!
Desnuda is a restaurant that could be so much better, but unfortunately it lacks a lot. For one, the "Feeling Lucky?" section of the menu is confusing. When I tried to order the salmon the waitress said it was sold out already. The menu had very little options and did not cater to a vegetarian/vegan diet at all. The vegan on our table could only order brussels sprouts (without bacon). Even the potatoes were cooked in lard.
The ambience of the place is fun, however, the music did not match the theme of the restaurant whatsoever.
My biggest issue with Desnuda, is the ventilation. Two months ago, my partner went to a dinner in Williamsburg and came home smelling awful, he didn't remember the name of the restaurant. Last weekend, I went there with some friends and when I walked in, I realized that it smelled of a kitchen but didn't think much of it. Needless to say, when I took off my coat after getting home, I smelt the restaurant on my hair, coat, and even underwear. My coat is still being aired out because it smells terrible! Even if I wanted to pop into this cute place for a drink, I would avoid it, because you're left with this lingering smell for days.
I would love to see this restaurant improve its food selection and ventilation. Could be a great neighborhood spot to go to!
Such a special place! The food is extremely delicious! It’s in the expensive side but worth every penny. I’m looking forward to going back for sure.
Service was slow. Food was overpriced but tasty. I wouldn’t take a date there again because I think the food is too overpriced for what it is but I had a great time. Ambience is romantic for sure.
I love this restaurant. Sitting at the chef's counter watching the chef's create culinary magic is my favorite . The food is always consistent creative and on point. I always bring out of towners here for a truly unique NYC experience. Highly recommend ! Also the menu is predominantly gluten free = winning.
The Idea of an open kitchen integrated in the bar might be good, but unfortunately not well thought out. Ventilation is not existing and one will leave the restaurant smelling like pan fried food. Service at the bar is bad. The stressed out cook takes your order in an unpleasing way.
Even though the food is very good, our overall experience wasn’t. Wouldn’t return.
We went here for happy hour, ordered the dollar oysters. We were a little disappointed there was only one variety, but they were really tasty and a great deal. We also ordered the octopus, which was delicious, and the shishito peppers with anchovies and the scallops and umi. Finally we ordered the ceviche which was also really good. I think we just expected the quality of the scallops and umi to be a bit better, and to get more than 3 to share between two people for the price. It was definitely good food, I think for a raw bar we were just left wanting a bit more quality for the price.
Food was great. However not the place for kids. Our kids hardly ate anything on the menu and they are not fussy eaters.
Lighting is very dark. We needed our phones to read it properly. The booth where we sat had it’s table top sanded earlier that day. The seats were covered in dust which covered our coats. Most likely to be just a one off though.
The service was good, our waiter explained the menu. The food was excellent. We enjoyed every dish that we had ordered. Portion sizes were modest.
The price was very high in my opinion. Nearly $300 for 3 adults but it did include 2 rounds of drinks.
Amazing food! Really interesting fusion and combinations, great atmosphere, and funky and fun without being overwhelming. Fun for small groups and dates!
food was amazing
We had a tremendous dinner at Desnuda. Salmon belly, octopus and smoked oysters were favorites but everything was good and the specialty cocktails are great as well. Highly recommend this spot.
Oyster Happy Hour! And staff amazing
A very noisy place. The tables were sticky. Drinks were overly sweet. The food had no taste with a fairly high price and came in tiny portions. The waitress serving us pushed us to order more food and drinks but couldn’t care less about how we liked the food or getting us some water. On top of that, there was barely any AC in this place. We were sweating the entire time. Overall, it was a rip-off. Spend your money somewhere else.
The food and drinks were excellent, specifically the Pisco Sour, Oysters and different Ceviches. The service was so-so and the space was not suitable for a large party. We had a reservation for 9 people and were seated in an enclosed booth. In the back half of the booth there was absolutely no air flow and there was a low, slanted ceiling - so the people sitting at the end of the table were not only sweating, but their heads hit the slanted ceiling if they were not careful. We ordered plates to share as was recommended by the waitress. The food came out as it was ready, each dish came out about every 10 minutes, so with 9 people we each got about one bite from every dish - we were starving! The waitress should have offered more guidance in terms of how to order for a large party, but she was vague and seemed too busy to engage. After 2 hours, we were uncomfortable and still hungry, so we left and went to an Italian restaurant down the street to have actual dinner. I would recommend this place to go on a date, or if you are looking to have some good, light food with your drinks, but definitely not as a place for a group dinner.
Amazing dinner. Drinks and food were delicious. Everyone had a favorite and were blown away at the quality of food. Music was very very good and our waitress went above and beyond.
Amazing food. Super delicious. Great ambience. Excellent service.
Excellent food and service only downside was sitting at the bar the fumes from the stove made my eyes tear and my clothes smell
Love the ambience and the food was excellent
The party sitting next to us were HORRENDOUS, they disrupted the entire restaurant, screaming, standing, moving up and down, hovering around our table, it was very obnoxious and the wait staff did nothing to calm them down or compensate the other diners in the restaurant, especially us. We had to cut dinner early and leave the table, I even had a desert planned to come out and that did not even get a chance to happen. We have dined at this restaurant before and absolutely love the food but this experience was really terrible. I just wish even a “I’m sorry” was given to us, let alone a free round of drinks or an appetizer for free, or better yet telling the out of control party to sit down and shut up! Very disappointing.
I made a reservation for 7:30 for a table. When we arrived they sat us at the bar although there was an empty table available. I was told that they were overbooked. However, I’m staring at an empty table at 7:30. So how exactly do they decide whose reservations they honor?
Food was excellent, but the service was so bad we were bonding with the table next to us about it. Fun music, but extremely loud. Expensive night given that we left hungry. Better to think of this place as a pitstop for cocktails and Happy Hour oysters on the way to dinner.
Everything was good but not great. Service could've been a little better with drinks only. It was quite warm in our booth on a very hot day and a little loud. All in all a good choice though.
The waiter was incredibly rude. He made comments multiple times about what we're ordering that were meant to provoke and annoy us. Also, even though we reserved a table, after making our order, he told us that he should have just seated us at the bar since we didn't order much even though we explicitly said we wanted to sit at a table. The table next to us told us he was being rude and unreasonable to them too. Overall, horrible experience. Ruined my night and the waiter really needs to be fired.
Loved it! All seafood, mostly raw. 80s music. Had a great time!
Excellent experience. Food was outstanding. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend.
Great date spot
Did not know what to expect. A small place that has aamzing food. Not a huge menu but excellent one. The cocktails are unique and really good. Service was amazing and the owner/boss was very nice.
Amazing food and great drinks. will deff comeback soon
Great ceviche, interesting sides. Fun decor in small space. Terrible waiter and music so loud you had to shout at the person next to you. Would go to another restaurant by the chef but wouldn't return to this location
This restaurant was phenomenal. Best fish in Brooklyn! Super fresh and the sauces are amazing!
Small cozy neighborhood place, recommended by a friend. Well the oyster alone are reason to come hear! Good mix of cocktails and some decent wines.
Came for the oysters but loved the skirt steak and baked clams were out of this world. Service was friendly and attentive
will definitely be back1
Great happy hour! The seared tuna and salmon dishes are amazing! Also great celviche!
The space is really great. However, the food is just not as good as the one in Manhattan. The portions were smaller. Overall, it was disappointing.
We had a great server, food and drinks were delicious. We’ll be back on 5-18th..:)
Food was good as always, but venue needs better ventilation for the hot plates. Odor bothered us the entire night, making the experience unpleasant, we couldn’t breathe in there. Our clothes still smell of food. EV location has a similar issue, but not as bad...
The food was good, but the service was really bad. They took to long to bring our drinks to the table. And was our first time and she didn't even explain us the menu. and how the restaurant works.
Excellent seafood options all prepared very nicely. The happy hour was an exceptional value. I'm looking forward to going back.
