This sweatbox should be regulated by the NY Sports and Gaming Commission due to its physical stressors (heat, sauna-like conditions). Also, the Fish & Wildlife commission needs to pay you bammas a visit- as we (the temporary patrons) were packed in there like cattle- veal, to be specific.
Furthermore, I must refer this establishment to zoning and signage experts; I was unable to find the location due to poor lighting and signage, and happened to stumble into the place next door. A place that turned out to appear 100x better than Desnuda you-must-be-heavily-powdered-to-survive-here Brooklyn.
Then, after realizing that Desnuda was 52.4 degrees (C) and rising, my date- who luckily was kind enough to ignore the river of perspiration (that was NOT acting in a passive aggressive way with my forehead) streaming betwixt my eyes- and was sympathetic enough to suggest leaving for a better atmosphere.
Also, get bigger seats.
Also, do better with your spacing. A gentlemen nearly sat on the Woman of my Dreams.
Do better Desnuda Spa and Grill.
Very lovely place, however an hour wait for ceviche placed at the time when there was only one other couple in the restaurant is ridiculous. As the place began to fill up, tables were seated, ordering, eating and paying the check before we got the ceviche. We had only had oysters and a bottle of sparkling cava so we were starving! Though we’d planned on ordering a whole assortment of things, we just asked for the check (at which point - surprise, surprise - the ceviche finally arrived) and found another restaurant to order entrees and another bottle of sparkling wine at.
Everything was great!! Thanks Action Bronson for the info.
This is not the best place for... say, a first date, because it is loud, but the experience was actually quite good. The food was on point, the service was good and presentation was notable. But you leave there smelling like you worked a BBQ pit; really smoky!
I'll definitely return because the menu was quite good, but it is a bit pricey.
We were lucky to snag the largest booth for a Sunday group cocktail hour reunion of old friends. Beautiful choice for a 4-8-person group if it's available; partial enclosure made it feel very private. Service was perfect: friendly, efficient, and expertly guided us to the perfect share plates and cocktails. We ordered several dozen raw oysters, clams, and shares; everything was fresh & delicious. Best pisco sour in recent memory. Lovely small touches everywhere (unique foam designs on every single drink, etc.) Planning to return soon.
Although I made reservations, I had to wait 30mins. It was packed, so my date and I understood. Anyhoo, the food was great and the drinks were very strong and perfect.
The food was really tasty, and the ambiance was definitely lively which made for a good atmosphere. A couple of drawbacks were the service - which was friendly and helpful but a tad harried and forgetful perhaps because the place was busy, and the fact that they do a bit of the cooking at the front bar so you will leave smelling like your dinner for quite a while afterwards.
In short, this restaurant failed in all three major areas of dining experience: Ceviche was far too saucy and very low quality, and so was overpriced and just not good. Service was indifferent, un-attentive, and unwelcoming, to say the least. We were also sat in a dark, remote, drafty corner of the restaurant and no one helped make our seating arrangement tolerable when we asked to move and/or to do something about the draft/heating.
Desnuda has good Food but poor service. Do not recommend it.
My reservation was for 6pm, we arrived 5 minutes before 6p but it took 15 minutes to get a table and another 15 minutes to order drinks despite the place was empty.
The place was noisy, we asked to lower the volume of the music so we could have a normal conversation in our group but were told they had no control of the music.
At the end the check included a 20% gratuity that we thought was not deserved and paid in only 10 %.
Great weekday happy hour deal till 8 gives you oyster or clam for $1 and good price on drinks. Food is outstanding. Very casual setting.
Phenomenal food! Great happy hour! One of my favorite spots!
Small place, great for raw bar lovers, which is not a box you can check above on Open Table.
Always love it here -- awesome food, splendid cocktails, and of course, the Williamsburg vibe...
When i moved to Williamsburg after 12 years in lower Manhattan, my biggest fear was finding new favorite restaurants to replace the old. Desnuda quickly rose to the top of my list and I can honestly say it's one of my favorites in all the boroughs. Such inventive plates with dynamic flavors and unparalleled freshness. I have as many special occasions, dates, and dinners as possible. The food never gets old and the staff is insanely warm and welcoming.
Set up date for a client. She said Venue had great food and drinks but awful service and didn’t have table ready per reservation.
