About Deseo at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa
Showcasing imaginative Nuevo Latin cuisine, deseo’s (deseo is Spanish for “desire”) menu features a distinctive and skillfully blended combination of flavors to create delicious dishes that are bold and intriguing. This style of cooking takes traditional Latin American dishes and reinvents them using European and American cooking techniques and often non-traditional ingredients. The perfect start to dinner at deseo is to “descansar” or “relax” with a freshly created cocktail at the adjacent Muddle Bar, which specializes in blending fresh fruits (mango, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and more) with fresh herbs (basil, tarragon, mint and more) along with your favorite spirit for the perfect pre-dinner cocktail.

Deseo at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa Ratings and Reviews
The noise level is so extreme that you can’t even hold a conversation. The restaurant acoustics are very substandard. This restaurant is frequented by meeting and convention attendees who are frequently boisterous and inconsiderate. This lack of ambiance significantly detracts from the food service.
Excellent neighborhood dining. Been there several times and it has been consistently great dining. Each person doing prep of food is a true artist. Plates are prepped perfectly. For a treat you should try sitting at the “rail” (their food bar) to watch fine prep techniques. Quite fun to watch!
I went to celebrate an anniversary and everything was perfect from start to finish. The bar area is a nice place to start. The on site artist was a very nice touch. We ended up buying 2 flutes that he had painted to remember the occasion. Restaurant was beautiful and the food was out of this world. If you have a chance go!!
We were disappointed with this visit to Deseo. While I could nit-pick and offer comments on every course, the main reason for the disappointment was the level of greasy, inedible components of the entree. Neither of us ate the potatoes or the any of the accompanying items to our hanger steaks. It was heart-burn on a plate.
I've been here several times before and I always thought all the food was outstanding. I didn't think I had a bad dinner but a few things were disappointing. We enjoyed our appetizer...but we both didn't care for the Peruvian Corn Dish. I thought my dinner was ok. I thought my husbands meal was ok....but not stellar. The sauces on both our dinners were weak and the horseradish potatoes were very weak. Loved the chocolate cigar dessert.
Have been to the restaurant many times and is a nice place to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. We started with the Hamachi ceviche and shared the Arroz con Maricso (for two) which consists of diver scallops, mussels, clams, shrimp and market fresh fish. It is kind of like a fish stew served over cilantro rice. SENSATIONAL. Always love to take out of towners to this restaurant which is in the Westin Kierland and it just never disappoints.
We have not been to Deseo in a while. We visited more frequently when we lived a little closer...but are reminded it is so worth the effort to trek the few miles we added in distance.
We found Deseo just as wonderfully consistent as we did every other time we had dined here.
Our favorite place to sit is at "the rail" in the dining room. You can watch the happenings of the open kitchen, and occasionally the chef may pass a bite or two for tasting.
Our favorites for starters: the Millionaire Tacos and the Shrimp Chicharron
For the first time, we enjoyed and shared the Churrasco En Tabla for our dinner choice~Amazzing! Perfect for two.
Check out the website and menu.
The muddle cocktails are fabulous, and so is the wine list.
Second experience and somehow surpassed first experience. I don't live in area so seldom have opportunity to visit this restaurant but it is likely my absolute all time favorite. Food is spectacular both in taste and presentation. Menu is creative but not snobby. Services know the menu and are personal and engaging without being intrusive. Can't recommend this place enough. Simply amazing!
Went for the Restaurant Week Event. Attended several others and this was by far the Best of them. Seems like they did a great job on the menu. Had the Sous-vide Waghu Short ribs. Melts in your mouth, delicious, I can't get enough .... Anyways, hope it makes it into the regular menu.
We have been to Deseo a few times and have always loved it and recommended it to friends. This trip, the food was outstanding, as usual. Service started very well. We never feel rushed when at Deseo. Our entree was served fresh and piping hot. We enjoyed what we could, but could not finish what we ordered. We planned to take it with us. Again not feeling rushed is great, but our server did not come back. After almost 30 minutes, another server asked if we were finished and prepared our leftovers to go. About 5 minutes later, our server returned.
This restaurant was a great night for sharing with our out of town visitors. They enjoyed the new food experience. Service was impeccable and very friendly. Wonderful presentation of dinner items and fabulous dessert s. I highly recommend this restaurant for all occasions. Enjoy!!!
We were delighted with the nice atmosphere, good service and great food. The menu was varried and we enjoyed the seafood platter for two....The seafood was plentiful, delicious, and with a lot of variety. Delicious spicy sauce left us wanting more but with the large serving we took nearly half of it home for a wonderful lunch the next day. The crispy shrimp appetizer was delicious and satisfying. We are planning when we can return.
We loved the atmosphere! The biggest issue was they tried to seat 2 couples at a huge table for 6 and we couldn't talk to one another. We saw many open tables and when I asked to be kindly moved, I was asked "have you seen our plates", implying that there was alot of food so we needed this table. I felt this was odd. We wanted a regular table to talk. When moved, the ray of the service was wonderful. The plates were not huge. The food was delicious.
Truly our favorite in the PHX area. We love sitting "at the Rail," chatting with the chef and staff, watching all of the wonderful offerings coming out of the kitchen. Two of our favorite starters are the Millionaire Tacos and the Hamachi; also like the beef tartare, which is unlike any we've had elsewhere. The hangar steak and the rice/crab dish are spectacular and our usual choices for entree and side. We share everything and find 2 or 3 starters, and entree and the side are plenty for us.
