Deseo at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa
Showcasing imaginative Nuevo Latin cuisine, deseo’s (deseo is Spanish for “desire”) menu features a distinctive and skillfully blended combination of flavors to create delicious dishes that are bold and intriguing. This style of cooking takes traditional Latin American dishes and reinvents them using European and American cooking techniques and often non-traditional ingredients. The perfect start to dinner at deseo is to “descansar” or “relax” with a freshly created cocktail at the adjacent Muddle Bar, which specializes in blending fresh fruits (mango, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and more) with fresh herbs (basil, tarragon, mint and more) along with your favorite spirit for the perfect pre-dinner cocktail.

It was an overall great experience with high food quality and flavor with a wonderful ambience.
Everything we had was well prepared, flavorful & interesting. Beautiful ceviche, GF bread option, Pork belly melted in your mouth (possibly the best I’ve ever had!). Entrees were nice size. If I had to offer negatives: Fried rice sounded yummy but was a bit of a disappointment & octopus was a bit over cooked making it rubbery.
Had not been here for quite some time but will go back soon. The service, the wine, and the food were all excellent. We shared all the plates between four of us and the best award went to the dark chicken nuggets. We ordered them last and wanted more but we were stuffed.
Sadly, this WAS my favorite restaurant for over 10 years but I won't go back. The menu has changed - prices gone up, portions down and no sides. The rolls which are amazing and gluten free - and you usually NEVER say those two adjectives together - are now $6.00 for 4 rolls. Haven't been there for almost two years and brought new friends to my "favorite" and was embarrassed. Honestly left still hungry after a hefty bill and went somewhere else for a snack.
Great ambiance, food was excellent as well as the service. A bit pricey for the quantity of food received, but I had a resort credit so the final price was more reasonable.
Great food. Great service. Outside table was lovely. Bagpiper was loud and repetitive. Very pricey.
Well be regulars!!! Great experience and staff!!
Always enjoyable, especially when having sundowners listening to the pagpiper with an increadibly view before dinner.
Apps came out quickly, but the kitchen was very slow on this visit.
They were very, very accommodating as I have many food restrictions and their menu did not easily lend itself to my needs, so server asked chef to prepare a dish made of this and that; not off the menu, and the chef did it! So delicious!!
Love this place!
Food is special and service attentive. BUT, noise level is almost painful
First, we enjoyed having a drink overlooking the golf course.....the wait staff was excellent...we ordered the salmon, medium which was perfect...the wine very good....celebrating a birthday and the dessert offered as a Preferred Resturant card owner...was truly exceptional and delicious....it was a wonderful evening...I will highly recommend it to my friends...THANKS....
Excellent service. Tiny portions. Very $$$. Short ribs were presented beautifully, however they were cloyingly sweet/rich.
Amazing meal and great service. Wine list is excellent, too. I had not been there for several years, but amazingly the waiter recognized me and remembered my name and where I sat the last time I was there!
Wonderful dining experience. Creative & delicious menu. Lots of gluten free options. Good wines. Excellent service.
It was amazing. The food was unreal. Not a bad bite to eat to be found. The Argentinian wine flight was just what I was looking for. Highly recommend eating here!!
Great food careful and attentive service menus is creative and a great representation of Latin cooking
Plates are well presented excellent pairing of wine flights with food
Will definitely return
Our waitress was so helpful and patient with several recommendations and explanations. We’d go back in a heartbeat. Food and outdoor ambience was GREAT!!
Haven't dined at Deseo in over 10 years. Have been wanting to return but just never had the right time and/or occasion. Ended up taking my youngest daughter, 14, for my birthday dinner. all I remembered - the atmosphere is great, with other diners enjoying themselves without too much noise. Very classy place but feel comfortable being yourself. All the food from appetizers, to salads, to main entrees, look and are delicious. The arugula salad, lamb, and free range chicken (our meals) were perfectly prepared. Obviously, the cigar dessert was fun and delicious too. Definitely not waiting 10 years again this time.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Definitely worth it
We went to Deseo for the first time and took advantage of their 3 course Restaurant Week menu. It was a lovely evening sitting outside at the long communal table. We almost had the place to ourselves. The food was delicious and really creative and the service great! We'll also return and enjoy their regular menu. We highly recommend this restaurant.
The menu is different on line and we were disappointed that the there are no vegetable now on the menu and only one salad. But other than that, it was excellent.
Unique small plates that are always perfectly prepared. We sat along the kitchen bar so we could watch the food being prepared, a fun experience. We did millionaire tacos, octopus and tenderloin skewers. Can’t wait to go back.
When we are looking for a special and delicious meal, we come here. Service and food is exceptional. Will return for the wonderful appetizers and entrees and everything in between.
We ordered various appetizers and grazed the whole evening. They were all supurb. The chef creates dishes that are exotic and truly unique. Best mojitos this side of Litle Havana in Miami.
Great server, Phil. Made excellent recommendations on food and wine. Brought a beautiful dessert for our anniversary.
Beautiful setting and decor. Service exceptional and friendly. Creative menu and the small plates were outstanding. Wonderful evening.
Get the $1,000,000 tacos and the chocolate cigar.
Delicious and peaceful
It was great! It was our anniversary and they surprised us with Ana amazing dessert display
Food was delicious and beautifully presented
The food is ingenious! Outrageously good, presentation is wonderful, quality is amazing! We love this place! We are becoming regulars.....Great Chefs! Go Chefs!
Whenever we are in Scottsdale we eat at Deseo. The food is always amazing and never disappoints!
Loved the food, loved the ambience and such a great place to celebrate our 50th anniversary.
Michael was great as was the rest of the staff. Thank you for a lovely memory.
Deseo is our favorite restaurant in Scottsdale. We’ve been going there for 15 years and it never disappoints. The menu has changed through the years but it always offers a nice variety of amazing food. Sitting at the Rail is a memorable experience. Food is outstanding!
Food is excellent for the most part. Two in our party got the platter for two. They found it to be too skimpy. It needed a carb to round it out better. Food is quite spicy but had a lovely presentation. I had the lamb with quinoa. Lamb was outstanding. The quinoa was too seedy. A bit rough to the palate.
Service was friendly and very pleasant.
We’ve been going for years and it has kept the quality.
Wife and I come here for our anniversary yearly, we come for the bread rolls and stay for the food. Chef's here do an amazing job, and we're constantly coming up with new reasons to go.
Off the charts wonderful!! Loved the wine flights, great waiter, fabulous dessert!! Chocolate Moose with chocolate cigar and match sticks made of sugar!! Amazing!!
Deseo was wonderful. We sat at "The Rail" and so had a front row seat for the open kitchen, and could watch all the dishes being prepared, interact with the chef, and hear some of the orders being shouted out. The food itself was exceptional--so fresh, and so much thought put into where each ingredient was sourced from, for instance a certain variety of potatoes from Brazil. The presentation was superb as well, with so much attention to detail--tweezers were even used to get pieces into the exact right location on a plate. The wine selection was outstanding, as was the cocktail and beer selection. In keeping with Deseo's Latin theme, there were several Central and South American choices with the wines and cocktails, and with nearly all of the beers. The atmosphere was very nice, low lights, but not too dark. Since the restaurant is in a resort, there is no real dress code; some people were dressed up and other were extremely casual. The bar is separate from the restaurant, so you can't really see what's going in the restaurant proper if you are in the bar area, but it has a small bar, a few tables, and a small TV (maybe 2?) above the bar. It is a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. We are looking forward to coming back soon!
