Depot Hotel Restaurant
We went there because they have really good food, a fun waitress and a really nice host named Liam.
Good menu options for our Easter brunch
Came here on our trip to Sonoma and was SO impressed by the quality and value of the meals we ordered!! Two incredible pasta dishes, an amazing Salami tray, and a delicious pizza. Can’t wait to return again!
Food was good but the restaurant is a little "dated". I think it could use an update.
Fabulous food. Fabulous venue. We had a large group of 8 and it was easy enough to get a res. Everyone loved their food.
The Depot Hotel and Restaurant is a gem in Sonoma! I found it on Open Table! And Because it ranked so high we decided to try it as well as the beautiful courtyard photographs! My friend and I just loved it! Beautiful charming courtyard viewed from the restaurant. They have a lovely brunch on Sunday, that I will truly look forward to trying!
Very nice atmosphere, great service and food, as usual. Very consistent.
Overall, loved the food and the ambience. We sampled a lot of different food choices at our table of four. Some dishes were stronger than others. Especially loved the chickpeas, pork shank, and swordfish. Also liked the butter not squash pasta.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, terrific wine list.
We had a good meal but nothing out of the ordinary.
Depot is a very warm, comfortable venue with excellent fresh food. Services is exceptional. We eat there frequently!
Great atmosphere for an intimate dining experience!
I've eaten at The Depot many times and have always had a good experience. It's especially nice to eat outside on the patio but the dining room is also quite lovely.
Wine list is not what is used to be. Would love more options there! Long, long stretch between our first and second course. In fact other parties that came in after us were served and left during that time. “The chicken” was blamed, but one of the tables I just referred to had the chicken. We were with great friends, poured our own wine, and had great conversation, so we still had a great time. And, the food was delicious, so worth the wait.
Looked on Yelp for recommendations when I was at a conference. It ended up being a great find. Most customers seemed to be locals. The food and staff were wonderful.
We saved the Depot for last of our week in Sonoma. Great place with great service. Mushroom soup delicious and Salmon was excellent. I had Italian sausage pizza and it was great. Can't wait to return.
Great Staff!! He was very attentive and the food was very good!!
Great service by our server Cooper. He made recommendations that we took him up on.
The special-Beef Borganeau (spelling?) was delicious. Veal Scaloppini was spectacular-sauce with exotic mushrooms.
Charming ambience, warm and inviting. The cuisine and wine list are superb. The staff is always so friendly and the service is personal and excellent. Highly recommend!
I’ve been going to The Depot Hotel for longer than I care to admit and it continues to be a all time favorite! The food just keeps getting better and better, the wine list is super reasonable and coming from someone who lives in Sonoma that is really saying something, plus the atmosphere and service is charming! Try this restaurant, it will not disappoint!
We think the quality of the food at Depot Hotel has improved of late. Have always loved the old world vibe of the place.
Celebrating 2 birthdays. I ordered tiramisu for 6 with candles to sing and server had no clue that this was arranged which was very disappointing and awkward. I wanted to surprise my family and ended up chasing the server down and we still did not get what I asked for.
Service was very good and the food was excellent! Will absolutely stop there again on our next visit to Sonoma.
Always delighted with Depot Hotel. Food was outstanding.
My out of town guest 85th BD at the Depot she was sooooooooooooo happy and she is a wonderful ILT cook herself. Thanks you I always know if I want the best I go to the Depot
Party in area between inside and courtyard was very loud and impacted dining room noise.
Started with the insulate salad - taste of the dressing was nice and the cherries and pistachios and blue cheese were delicious. Both of us had the chicken which was tender. The polenta and veggies were a nice compliment to the meal. The chocolate chip gelato was amazing!
This is a hidden gem on Sonoma. Look forward to going back in the summer and enjoying a meal on the lovely patio.
Great outdoor seating which wasn’t open on this visit, so I suggest visiting when best weather. Waiter did a good job considering only on job for four days. Typical menu selections which would appeal to most diners. Don’t expect a fine gourmet dining experience. Decent wine list.
Our party of 8 all thought the food and service were excellent. Many of us shared salads as a starter as they were so large and the waiter brought us extra plates without even asking. Their wine selection is good and we had two very good red wines. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
Just kind of mediocre and food was marginal at best unfortunately. Service was very adequate but food did not hit the mark especially for the Napa Valley.
I have been a long-term follower of the Depot -- many years. We were celebrating 4 birthdays the day of our visit. The chef always delivers expertly prepared, delicious creations. Everyone was pleased with their food choices. Service was as good as it can get. The server seemed to look after us as though he had no other tables to mind. He was a total pro, despite that the day of our visit was only his third day at the restaurant. Didn't matter -- he knew service. The ambiance of the Depot reminds one of having been transported, for a brief visit, to Europe. All of the staff was amazingly friendly and dedicated to service. If you haven't visited, you are denying yourself of a first class experience with well prepared food, fair prices, competent staff and terrific setting. Earl Shuttleworth.
Great service and great dinner. Desert was awesome
I booked online with OpenTable. This is the second time I have requested a certain table which was ignored. I have the feeling that they don’t pay attention to special requests. In the past the hostess was excellent and was aware of who we were and where we liked to sit. Even though the food is good, we were disappointed again that they had removed crab cannelloni from the menu, when I believe crab is still in season.
We were set outside on the patio and it was 39 degrees. They had a tent but there was a big gap under where cold air entered. They were out of lettuce for ceaser salad and one person in our party ordered a margarita pizza and when it was served they let her know they were out of tomatoes. We requested to be set inside and they said they were full, but they were never full. Most of the food was good and our server was friendly but hard to enjoy when wrapped in your coats and still freezing.
Loud. Server was a tad rude or seemed unfriendly. Half of food was delish. Otgeerx
Service wasn’t that great. The food was only ok. But I was hungry so I ate it. The pizzas looked good and I regret not ordering that. Not sure I would come back again.
On the whole, a very good dining experience.
The setting is intimate. Parking is very easy for Sonoma.
Our waitress was attentive and maybe a little over exuberant.
The fried mozzarella was a little disappointing in that the center was cold. Could have used a little more time in the fryer. The sauces were excellent .
My wife ordered the veal Scallopine. Veal was tender and not overcooked. The sauce was rich. The potatoes and side veggies were perfect.
I ordered the "Italian potroast". The meat was a little tough and could have used a little longer braise. So good, but had room for improvement. Sides were perfect.
Overall I would easily recommend this restaurant. The only disappointment was the appetizer.
Great casual local spot with good food! Service very friendly and knowledgeable. Fun place to get together with friends.
Worst experience we had in the bay area. The waiter was impersonal, was very short with us. We are from out of town and were hoping to have someone help us with recommendations on the menu. When the food did come, my husband's lamb was good but everything else was TERRIBLE. My ravioli tasted like it came out of a can. Wine choices were very disappointing for being in wine country. The food was WAY overpriced. I have never had such a disappointing dining experience, ever. I highly recommend you look elsewhere if you want a delicious and enjoyable evening, you will not find that here.
