Depot Hotel Restaurant
Wonderful meal, setting and.service. Sunny was a terrific server who really made the night!
I will send my comment directly to the restaurant.
Table was in nice setting but flies buzzing through entire meal. Quite annoying.
Service was very good. Food tended to be oversalted.
This is a great restaurant with great service, and delicious food! During the warm months, it’s such a beautiful setting outside around the pool. I would highly recommend it!
The food was terrible, mostly inedible. There was no thought to how the items were prepared or presented. Food was overcooked, waitstaff was abrupt and plopped dishes onto our table with loud thuds. It was definitely no place that I would recommend and hope that I can save someone’s evening and steer them elsewhere. When the check came, I felt like I was getting a parking ticket.
Great place to have lunch or dinner. Sitting outside on the patio poolside was delightful!
The food was delicious and I would heartedly recommend the Shrimp Louie! The service is always outstanding and the menu varied. A neighborhood gem to say the least. Always my go to place when guests come to town.
Very disappointed. Food was just ok, nothing special for the price point, but the best part of the meal was the raspberry creme brûlée and wine. Our waiter was absolutely the worst. He started describing the menu as this “so the chowder is a soup, and then we have some starters, here’s the pasta, and we have many entree’s... good luck”
The outdoor patio was gorgeous, creme brûlée and wine gave this a 2 star review instead of a 1 star .
My lunch at the Depot the other day was a celebration with clients. It was their first time at the restaurant. We all had a delightful relaxed time. From our vantage point overlooking the pool, we worked our way through crispy chick peas, prosciutto with ripe figs and padron peppers with a nice local sparkling rose before moving on to our entrees. No better place to be for a relaxing delicious lunch (or dinner) with clients, friends and family. A true treasure in Sonoma.
Beautiful ambiance on the patio. We split the Caesar Salad and the tortellini. The Caesar was “odd”. We should have read the description. Made with little gems, not romaine. No parmigiana— some other shreds of cheese. Not bad, just a surprise. Tortellini was amazing! Always love dining at the Depot!
another delightful long late lunch at Depot. setting out by the pool is perfect on these summer afternoons. All the food selections were wonderful, along with two bottles of the owner's wine...
Huge disappointment. Outdoor patio was “ok” but the plastic floating fountain in the mini pool was extremely cheesy. We waited 15 minutes before we even got water and another 10 before the hostess came to take a drink order because our waiter was apparently busy. It seemed like they were very understaffed and one of the waitresses walking around clearly was NOT happy to be there. She had a scowl on her face the whole night and when she saw us in passing she just said “I need some help.” Our waiter was very friendly but unfortunately it didn’t make up for the marginal food or the overall lack of care that was prevalent throughout the night. Definitely would not recommend to anyone - especially since there are so many other great restaurants nearby.
I have been to the Depot many times, being a local, and the food is always great. I don't think there is any doubt that the setting and the ambience is the best of any restaurant in the Valley. The Tortellini's are the best I've ever had!
Good food, excellent service, great atmosphere, and good value. A great evening for out party.
Restaurant was very nice however in my Open Table request I noted that it was my Wife's Birthday and could we have a special table poolside. When we arrived we were promply escorted to the most remote table with no mention. I had to request a change and we were moved to a table poolside. Why bother? Other than that I really liked the restaurant and the food.
Skip this restaurant. There are so many good options in Sonoma. The food here was simply "OK". It was mediocre Italian with nothing special to make it stand out. There are many competitors in the area serving up far better fare. The one redeeming factor was the ambiance of the outdoor courtyard by the fountain.
We got there a bit early for our reservation, full house. Sat at the bar and enjoyed a quiet beer. We were seated 5 minutes before our reservation time. Table was next to the pool, it was lovely. They had just ran out of what I wanted to order, but second choice was soooo good. Our waitress was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. Extremely reasonably priced for all they had to offer. Will definitely return.
Our waitress was amazing, she truly loves her job! She made some recommendations for us and we really enjoyed the meal. The only disappointment was the gazpacho-- which was bland. The other starters were fresh and delicious-- the figs and prosciutto; the fresh mozzarella and the smoked salmon. Mains, both fresh pasta and veal were also very good.
Wine choices were varied and we had a reasonably priced Oregon Pinot Noir.
Definitely recommend this resturant
Great dinner always!!
Such a lovely way to enjoy dinner with friends: wonderful food on a beautiful outdoor patio. The Depot is a real gem!
Sitting by the pool on the patio was just delightful. The food was delicious, and our waiter was very personable and attentive. Super experience. Highly recommend this restaurant, which is high praise because I'm picky! : ))
Cooper was a great waiter
The dinner was delicious and I had the black pasta with loads of shellfish. I took the sauce home and had it for lunch on a slice of toasted olive bread. My wife had eggplant parmigiana and also had for lunch yesterday. I’m so glad we came and we have a 3 way tie for our favorite Sonoma restaurant.
I remember Villa d’Este restaurant in Los Altos/Mountain View 50 years ago!
Everything was wonderful meal, waiter, only thing we would of liked was a full bar.
This is our new special place for lunch occasions. The food is fresh, innovative and delicious. We are never rushed, there is plenty of time to enjoy the quiet, bubbly pool nearby. It's a treasure!
We love the Depot restaurant. This somewhat out of the way, more locals place never fails to deliver. It was such a lovely afternoon to eat on the beautiful patio.
Many wonderful memories at the Depot. Dinner tonight was as great as always. Thanks!
We chose to dine here for our 20th wedding anniversary because we had Italian on our wedding day. So glad we did! The service, the food, the ambience was all lovely. The outdoor area is especially nice with it’s large pool and fountain. Highly recommend!
We were on vacation with our family and had a wonderful dinner. Our server was FANTASTIC and probably what made the experience that much better!
Our pizza was burned on the bottom. Then when we ordered dessert the cannoli was sour and had turned. Not acceptable in my opinion.
Great food and friendly service. Dining outside is really nice.
We enjoyed our lunch at the Depot Hotel. We sat in the courtyard which is lovely. Our only suggestion is that the menu could be a bit more extensive. We felt the choices were limited.
Sat on the patio which had a pool and fountain. Had to wait a little while for water and bread. The waiter took even longer and he was quite rushed. Food was served fairly quickly however. The tortellini was very good.. My husband enjoyed the cannelloni. Overall a very nice dinner
Dining with pets is not a great combination on certain venues.
The food....was not good. A step below Olive Garden I would say. The "bolognese" tasted like salty taco meat on top of Barilla rigatoni. All of the appetizers were so simply prepared but not in a good way. The "La Querica Prosciutto and Cantaloupe" was literally four pieces of sliced cantaloupe next to four pieces of prosciutto that looked like they were freshly peeled from a package. The "Fresh Mozzarella" was sliced mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, topped with anchovies, one basil leaf, and a drizzle of olive oil. The"Liaison Salad" was bay lettuce with freshly thawed bay shrimp. The pastas were even worse with the previously mentioned taco meat bolognese. The only high point were the pizzas that were pretty good even delicious. If I was coming back, I'd have a cheap bottle of red and a couple pizzas, enjoy the ambiance, and get out.
A wonderful place to eat lunch outside in Sonoma, on a huge shaded patio featuring a a beautiful fountain, surrounded by trees. Lunch was outstanding, with perfectly prepared food, fresh and of the highest quality, delightful ambiance, and superb service. The staff was engaged and interested in sharing the best experience with us. We enjoyed it so much, we returned later the same evening for dinner. Dinner was also very good!
A yearly event for us and our friends to enjoy a great place to eat and visit. We never have to worry about the food or service. Our waiter Cooper was very accommodating to our needs and was very pleasant to visit with. Ambiance in the patio is very soothing and peaceful, allowing us to visit and relax. Thanks Depot Hotel
Great food, service and ambiance! It is the best way to recreate an Italian experience in Sonoma
Server ignored us for long stretches with no apology or explanation. We had an ok time. The food was good. We were seated outside and the weather cooled off and we felt stranded by our server. He offered us a dessert menu and we picked out desserts but then did not see him for over 25 minutes and could not get anyone else’s attention. We would have ordered dessert but decided that we would simply pay our check and leave if it was taking this long given that it was getting cooler and cooler and we were walking home.
Nice for meeting a friend to talk too lunch was good The server was very occupied so it was hard to get her attention ,, but doing her job ,,
The Depot is a fabulous Sonoma restaurant. The food and service and relaxing atmosphere make this a favorite of our family!
