Wonderful food and service. Went for a birthday celebration and the uniqueness of this restaurant made it a special occasion. Food is extremely interesting and different.

The best meal was the pork belly appetizer, but everything else was ok. There was nothing outstanding and especially for the price. Brussel sprouts and trout sushi roll were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The bibimbap was good, but again, nothing you can’t get at a local Korean joint.
The drinks were great with the execution of not using the block of ice for an old fashioned. They wanted an extra $2 for a block. Properly made drinks shouldn’t require extra $.

This was my first visit, I was early to a 6:30 p.m. reservation and was seated immediately. Party of one usually easy to deal with. Interesting layout however maze-like floor plan can be confusing. Server Genevieve well spoken and thoughtful. I custom ordered my personal cocktail and the bartender nailed it. When I made the reservation I indicated an allergy to mango; at the table I was offered a short completely allergen free menu. After reviewing it, I asked for the full menu with the proviso I would simply watch my selections with care. Beet and vegetable roll, Edamame with sea salt, and the Crab & Sausage fried rice were hazard free for me. All delicious and well presented. Overall, an atmosphere of cozy luxury. Quite a view of the city, too.

All food ordered was excellent...service was awesome...the Shen is my new favorite drink! If you like an Old Fashion and/ir Manhattan, you will be impressed. Only negative was our seating...requesting window seating is imperative in enjoying the outing to its fullest.

Great food and drinks, friendly knowledgeable wait staff. Only thing I'd change is how far your sitting from your date... tables are long. You actually sit closer to the person at the adjacent table than who you came to eat with.

My overall would be a 4 or 5 but the female hostess was completely rude prior to our reservation on open table. My friend and I arrived around 10pm with no reservation and asked for a table for 2. We were told there was a 45 minute wait. Okay I’m starving so idk what to do. We go to the bathroom come back and ask if we can wait in the bar when he eating the snotty girls says well it’s an hour and 1/2 now but sure. In 5 minutes? And that’s when the restaurant closes? Really? But what really got me is another girl walked up on the phone with an iPad and she said “reservation for 2?” We have that at 1045 or 11. And I look at the screen and it says 1015, 1030, 1045, 11. Is wtf!? I say something about it to my hostess and she says well you can try to get one on open table. That’s clearly what you guys use? So why don’t you do it for me? I was LIVID. And honestly ready to leave. From that experience I don’t feel The Departure should have had my business that night. But my friend REALLY wanted the yakitori. So we pulled up open table. 1015 was gone so we grabbed the 1030 one now with amount 20 minutes to wait. Not an hour. Not the initial 45. She then sat us at a table without the candle lit, didn’t light it. Didn’t send someone to light it. I felt like it was just additional shade. That all being said the food was pretty good. Not phenomenal but definitely tasty. I didn’t order an actual dinner just stuff found on the late night menu. The waiter was also great! Very helpful and friendly. Would I go there again? Idk. My experience was really tainted by the rude hostess. But probably. I know I’d go back to the outside bar, they’ve always been great. That hostess either needs to fix her attitude problem OR they need to fix their seating policies. If you have something open and people sitting right there, seat them.

We very much enjoyed the dining experience at departure. We were celebrating my son's 18th birthday and it was a perfect place with ambience and food to match. We would highly recommend dining at the Parcher it's definitely a fun atmosphere and a fun place to be.

The food was good, but a little overpriced. We did the tasting menu, which was described as meant to be shared, but the portions were small and not well designed for sharing, and were not paced well.

Originally had made reservations for 8:15pm, but finished early, so we changed it to 7:45pm. Arriving earlier than planned at 7:15pm, we told the host and she said tables were getting cleaned up and we can get seated soon. She let us know we can wait at the patio bar which has nice views of the city of Portland.

After about 30 minutes, I decided to go back to the front to see if I can get an update, but saw the host was busy so I went back to the patio without saying anything, but we did make eye contact. 15 minutes later, I go back to the host and she looked at me and said "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I forgot!"

A little annoyed, we proceeded to eat anyways to check out the restaurant. First impressions is it's a very nice restaurant, not super classy, but also not casual. That was until we unfolded our cloth napkins to see wooden disposable chopsticks. You would think a place that has "$$$" on Yelp would have better utensils.

Our waiter didn't show up after 5 minutes of being seated so we asked the manager walking by to grab him. When he showed up, he took our order and he was very nice and friendly. We had ordered the pork belly, chicken wings, and crab & pork belly fried rice. Everything was good but nothing wowed us. We proceeded to get the check and left. On our way out going down the elevator, another couple mentioned to us that Michael Jordan was dining there, so that was pretty cool.

This place overall was alright. I would like to come back here again for the warmer weather to sit outside on the balcony. Where we sat was under a speaker where the music was playing. It sounded like NYC Fashion Week music, which wasn't bad, but not romantic for a dinner date. This place is more like a get together with friends. The service was good. Back to the music part... It kept going up and down in volume, like someone was messing with the volume dial. It was strange. The place was modern.

One of our go-to spots, but this last visit was disappointing. Food is usually outstanding but not so much. Our table was so dim we had to use our phone light to read the menu. Really? Hopefully just a one off.

I was very excited to take my fiancé here for his 29th birthday. We noted it was his birthday while booking our reservations, but unfortunately, there was no mention of the occasion other than the host asking why we were visiting that evening. That, in combination with being seated in this strange corner booth with a wall that blocked my view of the entire restaurant, the ambiance/atmosphere of the evening was not as exciting as I'd hoped it would be considering the quality. With that aside, our server was really kind and the food was delicious. We ordered off the vegan menu and loved every dish - cauliflower and asparagus salad, steamed buns, curry, and vegetable udon. Each was packed with flavor and so unique! If you do go here, make sure your table is in a good spot before you sit down. And, if you're visiting for a special occasion and want a little something extra, I'd hop on the phone and ensure they are aware of what you're celebrating!

Loved that they had a vegan menu and the atmosphere was so different than other Portland restaurants. Perfect for a get together with friends, you can actually hear each other but it's still a fun lively place.

We celebrated girlfriend’s birthday. We were running late due to our baby sitter canceling last min. So we had to bring along our 3 year old son. Our original reservation was for 445pm but didnt get there till 500pm. The host was very nice and got seated quickly. Food was great but expected a little more selection. But i was very pleased with the staff especially the busser who went out of his was to go to the other restaurant to get my son some apple juice.

The atmosphere was energetic and upbeat. Departure is truly one of Portland's more trendy hangouts appropriate for all ages. On a clear evening there are panoramic views to accompany the phenomenal Asian Fusion cuisine. Half of our party was gluten free and we had a generous selection of options to share with the entire party. I will definitely return to departure. Original, creative and incredibly tasty.

It was our anniversary dinner. It was packed on a weekday and didn’t like our table. Lounge is small and the terrace was closed due to rain, I suppose. The food was average and pricey as expected. The only thing I liked was the service. Our steward was great and was there to help us choose from the menu. It is good for 1 time experience.

Departure was one of the restaurants I was extremely excited to visit on my weekend trip to Portland with my boyfriend. Once there, it wasn’t as great as expected. As soon as our waiter came over he was already giving us attitude. The staff is not the friendliest at this place. I was also under the impression it was more of a lounge vibe, but it felt more like an ordinary restaurant trying really hard to be snooty and exclusive. The food was great and so were the drinks. I would come back solely because I hope the terrible service was a one time thing.

We were seated quickly since we had a reservation but after ordering food it took a full hr to get it and initially the main dish we ordered was cold. Our server did check in on us and let us know our food was coming but we kept seeing people around us get seated and get their food before us? Wtf?! I’ll give one star since the server did check in on us and he did take some of the food off the total cost of our dining but damage is done- no one should wait that long only to have to complain about cold food

The food was impressive and creative. However, like I was telling my boyfriend, if the food was an accurate reflection of the chef's personality, I wouldn't long-term date him, as he'd be too spicy, sour and salty for me XD
