Executive Chef Matt Christianson creates dishes using traditional ingredients and cooking techniques from throughout Asia. Of course, Oregon's seasonal bounty plays an integral part in the dining experience, as well. Very nice, we enjoyed the atmosphere. Wish we were able to sit outside though. But the food was very good
Had 18 yo birthday dinner. Service was excellent. Bartender had great suggestions and friendly. Wygu upgrade was horribly fatty and tough. The Imbirico pork was great. Food was 6/10 for us. 6 people 720.00 with tip was about par for five dining in Pdx.
Excellent food - very delicious
-not worth the money you pay

Always a fantastic experience.
We enjoyed the experience tasting among 3 people. Excellent quality, quantity, and diversity of food. Sharing was easy, as was hoarding of our favorites to savor the depth of flavors.
For a $200 dinner, I wish I could’ve received a bowl of ice cream or some sort of dessert for the birthday guest.
If sunny recognize there is direct sun on the patio til about 6/7 pm. Other than that it was great!
The ambiance was quite nice. It felt Like something special. The service was fantastic and very attentive.
The food was meh, especially for the money. Some of the items in the $55 menu were pretty good but nothing was fabulous. I would recommend the Arrival menu, and skip the Departurw experience.
Overall it was a nice evening.
Limited selection. Background music to loud. Taste of food was average and nothing special for the price.
Excellent, unique menu! Great service and gluten free friendly.
Chefs feed brought me in and the pics. It’s a dive lounge. Food doesn’t look like pics or taste like it looks. Any small Asian place makes better food. Guess you pay for view and thinking it’s fine dining. Needs a face lift Better food and a dress code to keep the riff raff out. View and the entrance was the best part about it And service was great.
Made reservations days in advance asked for a window table, did not happen.
Host was very rude and more interested in talking to her coworker than helping anyone.
Server forgot about us a few times. We were here for over 2 hours.
Most of the food was good, but portions were too small. You should get more than three scallops for $300.
I can see why they call it departure, because I can’t see us returning :(
I really enjoyed it with my aunt! My server was great and we loved the starters.
Amazing food, great drinks and great service. Also, the ambience was futuristic and fun
New menu is not so good, service was poor. It is not longer a fine dinning experience. I had my daughter's 17th birthday dinner here and it was a disappointment. No worth the money. Food was blend and bad. Plate presentation was poor.
Great food and service--as usual
Very slow service. Sat for 20 minutes before being greeted by the bartender. Server was never present, except to drop the check.
One my favorite restaurants in Portland. Their 3-course menu is appropriately called the Departure Experience! To elevate the meal, this top floor restaurant gives a great view of downtown Portland.
Great, the service was exceptional
Some of the best food we’ve ever had. The experience was awesome, will do it again some time
Everything was perfect, we got 3 Experience Dinners and shared between some folks. My only complaint were the beverage pairings, it said when I was booking you could add them for $35. Well, they didn't seem too keen on having this ready as part of the experience and charged us for 3 high end cocktails at $15ea ($45 total). I asked for the $35 cost and they said that was just the "starting" amount and sorry but no... in the same breath they said they are still "working things out" around this menu. Sooo🧐🧐
It was wonderful having Departure open again. But after spending $125 I was told that it was time for the next people to be seated,
and that it was time to pay our check.
I think the next time I make a reservation it will be when the restaurant has opened up both decks and has more seating and not a limited time to enjoy the atmosphere the drinks and the food.
Food was exceptional, my only disappointment was you can’t get the prefix meal until after 6 PM. I wish we’d known that when we made the reservations.
Extremely loud, tasty food and the service was not the best. We asked for a window seat for our anniversary dinner and they sat us right next to a ugly roof with no view at all...
Avoid drink pairings
Wait staff not well informed
We went here for our anniversary. The service was excellent. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. They had many vegan options. The prices weren’t bad for the view and atmosphere you get here. My husband tried three of their cocktails and liked them all! I would LOVE to come back. It’s perfect for a date night. Also very clean and all the servers wore their masks.
We are frequent visitors of the Depature Restaurant & Lounge, before and during this pandemic. Our visit was underwhelming and had us disappointed. The music was extremely loud, and even after requesting it to be lowered three times, it was still loud. Water was so awful to an extent where it was not consumable. The menu items changed drastically including the prices which increased almost twice the orginal amount. However, the food was still good and the service was exceptional!!
We were celebrating a birthday and it was the first time for half of the group. Although the waiter was trying to be helpful, we felt rushed to order the entire time and it was a bit stressful. We didn't realize until we got there that we only had the table for 1 1/2 hours, which explained the rushed feeling. Two hours would have been more ideal. A beautiful evening view of the city was enjoyable. Friendly staff.
If you want to truly impress your Portland guests, bring them to Departure. Classy, funky-chic vibes with a luxurious clean feel. Food, drinks and service are remarkable as well.

Food & drinks were good, but a bit pricey. Overall had a great time celebrating a birthday, which was the perfect atmosphere with a great view! The employees were great.
5 stars! Our dinner at Departure was nothing short of spectacular. Great cocktails, food, ambience, and service.

The restaurant is beautiful and service was good..plates are VERY small and overpriced.
We had to wait a little for our table to be ready which was fine but once seated we waited an additional twenty minutes for the server to come to our table. They went to every other table around us. Even those seated after us. I actually had to go tell the hostess because we couldn’t find anyone to grab our order. The food was really good but the overall experience just wasn’t great. Will maybe give them another try in a few months.
Loved Departure!! Can’t wait to try the patio in the warm weather next year! Delicious food- great service!

We went here for our second wedding anniversary dinner. We asked for a table with a view and they delivered. Beautiful view of downtown. We enjoyed our signature cocktails the SOUTH MEETS EAST and TASHO MACHO. We also enjoyed the AHI TUNA + AVOCADO ROLL & we especially enjoyed the seasonal menu item, the charred figs. Great ambiance not too loud and excellent service.
Fantastic service incredible food! Perfect place to impress hah!

Went for anniversary, food was good and was great vibe. Scallops we juicy. Smoked salmon sushi roll was so-so. Wings were good. Until next time ✌🏼

Departure Lounge: Great for a drink and a snack on the patio during decent weather. Dinner portions are on the small side and underwhelming taste wise - also, wait staff chose to serve main dishes to a table of 4 in a staggered manner of several minutes in between which left us with cold food as we waited for everyone to have their main dish served. But the ambience was pretty cool and I felt like the staff were mindful of Covid pre-cautions.
What a delight to dine in the relaxing environment and have a night out. The food was so good, we enjoyed everything so much and talked about the dishes all the way home. The grilled prawns looked "skimpy" upon arrival but wow, what flavor and taste. Can't wait to have those again. The chicken wings served lollipop style were unique but frankly a bit too sweet. Next up, Carrots. Another big YUM. And finally the smoky chicken entree piled high with taste. And of course we needed to end with the brownie/coconut ice cream/berry dessert.
Next time I am definitely going for the seared scallops.
