Genevieve was an incredible waiter that remained pleasant and excited the entire night. She had wonderful suggestions on food portions and cocktails.
Try the bibimbap!
This was simply the best dining experience I can remember. Unique modern atmosphere, every dish was amazing and uniquely different than the last. Our server was graceful and charming. This will blow your tastebuds out of the water. The Roasted Carrot Salad was our favorite dish. The Butternut Squash Soup teases your pallet, the Coconut Soup Dessert was beyond anything we have ever experienced. If you are going to blow $50 per person on a meal, it should be this good. Two dishes per person fills you up. Don’t forget dessert.
We went to Departure the weekend after Valentine's Day and it was fantastic. Our waitress was lovely - so helpful, attentive and funny. She made sure that we were taken care of. The food was so amazing. We had the butternut squash soup which was one of the best soups I've ever had in my life. We also had a sushi roll and crispy pork belly dishes and they were good although we would probably not order them again. We had the bibimbap dish and that was heavenly. My mom used to make this dish for me and it brought back so many wonderful memories. The dish was authentic but was updated to make it even more delicious. We are definitely going back as there were so many things on the menu we still wanted to try. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent place to go. Feels kind of like traveling to vegas or something. High$$ but very delicious. You get what you pay for. Would definetely go back
Took my girlfriend here for a late V day dinner. Was an amazing experience, the food was delicious and the view from 50+ floors up was awesome. Definitely on the more spendy side but you get your money's worth with the entire experience. If you really want to impress your woman this is the place to take her.
Wonderful service. Ben was delightful, attentive, and knowledgeable. We had a daringly evening under his service.
Loved this restaurant! It’s beautiful, the service couldn’t be better, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Laura was an amazing server. She even allowed us to taste a new creation called The peppermint paddy. It was delicious!!
Very hip place with an amazing atmosphere. We tried multiple dishes and most were amazing and worth the price. Would be willing to visit again based on the ambience.
Good food and very friendly staff ❤️
We had the chefs four course meal and it was unbelievable. Probably the best food we have ever had! Made our Valentine’s Day dinner perfect.
Vegan sushi was somewhat plain but not bad. Udon noodles were excellent, on the saltier side. Szechuan tofu was nearly inedibly salty, price was fair and definitely worth it for the ambiance and view
The rating says it all. Superb in every way!
Excellent food and some of the best service I’ve received in the Portland area. The waiter did a great job of recommending the house specialties.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere is fantastic. Great view of Portland.
It was wonderful, enjoyed everything our favorite was the wings.
Had a great dinner with work colleagues. I love spice but those who prefer less spice should be warned.
Wonderful and creative food! I make it a point to eat at Departure every time I'm in Portland
It was very plesent experience. Great food and ambience. Lovely place to celebrate special occasion.
The food was fire. The service was great. The only I didn't like is how the server talked my date out of some things she wanted to order and changed her mind. Just let her get what she wants. Some may appreciate the suggestions but I did not. Other than that, it was perfect.
Really uncomfortable tables too close, service ok,
Great place for the fam
Excellent experience as usual. Chef may even take the time to create a specific version of the menu to fit dietary restrictions. Really wonderful.
Our server offered wonderful suggestions...we enjoyed everything we ordered. My request to be seated near the window was honored.
tasting menus not designed well...
this was recommended by several and was a hit with customers we took.
Departure took great care of us as we celebrated our daughter's 18th birthday. She sat with her friends while my husband and I sat in the bar. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff really made our daughter feel celebrated. My husband and I enjoyed talking to the bartender. It was a great night!
We had heard multiple people go on and on about Departure. Some told us we would feel like we were in a space ship. My husband remarked that he felt we were in an old episode of Star Trek. It is different and a bit of a maze.
We had reservations, but opted to wait to get a table near a window view. Even after the wait, the table was near the window, but not in a way that really provided a view (you're up on the 15th floor, so a view would've been nice). If you make reservations and this matters to you, ask for it ahead of time and be specific that you want a view). The tables themselves are super wide between you and the person across from you and then really close to the adjacent tables. So, you feel like you are having to lean across the table to have any sort of "intimate" conversation without disturbing those next to you.
As for the food, it looks and sounds amazing, but taste doesn't really measure up to the hype. We ordered the crab and shrimp fried rice and that was okay, but the fried rice on the breakfast menu at Cheryl's on 12 that morning was tons better. The pork belly was a let down for my husband, because he is not a sweet/savory person. Most ways we have had pork belly is savory and the sauce on this was pretty sweet and not our favorite. The only thing that we really enjoyed were the egg rolls. All in all, not our fave Portland spot for the money spent.
Their edamame and dinner wings are two of my favorite things ever!! The ambiance is so posh and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was my friends birthday and we showed up 20 minutes past out reservation time and it was so problem. I recommend this place to all my friends and always bring out of town guests here.
