Departure Restaurant and Lounge

My second time for the Peking Duck dinner and it did not disappoint! Juicy, tender and delicious! Was definitely a crowd pleaser!

Pros: food was all very tasty. group of 6 people so we tasted a lot and everything was well executed except one dish was too sweet (broccoli). service was all friendly.

Cons: one item we ordered got lost in the shuffle in the kitchen and we waited a long time for it. we also waited a long time to get the dessert menu after asking. so basically we were there about 30-45 min longer than we really wanted to be. A couple other moments of choppy service.

I was also very disappointed with our seating. I had asked the hotel concierge (The Nines) to put in a request for a good seat and he said he asked for a window. Instead we got table just past the host stand, probably as far from a window as you could be. I actually had to go for a walk around the restaurant to confirm there were windows. I realize you can't satisfy all table requests. but (and I hate to play this card) as Marriott Lifetime Titanium member, I would have expected slightly better preference than what may be one of the worst tables. I took a group of colleagues to dinner, so it was a bit embarrassing actually (in a funny way).

My waitress was very rude to our entire table. I went there for my birthday and every deck was rented out so we couldn't even see the view. Then I was rudly told they don't give you any dessert for your birthday. The food was the best part. I won't be going back after the rude service I received.

Departure is always good. The only thing I wish they did differently is serve things that used to be on their menu especially for people that go to departure a lot like me. I asked for the crab fried rice And they would not make it for me and I go to departure many times a year.

The special December Duck Month dinner is fabulous!

Our Waitress, Virginia, was the best. she advised us properly about the menu and gave her recommendations without upselling us. great service. food was FUCKEN (hope someone actually reads this hahaha) AWESOME!

My other half and I are from the pacific islands and frequent asian meals and we were nothing but impressed. THank you,

This dinner was amazing!! The waiter Eric was fantastic and knowledgeable. The duck dinner was out of this world!! Will come back for that again.

Unique spot for a delicious meal/happy hour with friends! The view was great at sunset on a sunny winter day. We loved the crispy pork belly and spicy crab roll. The handcrafted cocktails were great as well!

Dinner and drinks at Departure were a fabulous way to celebrate my husband’s 50th!! Everything was delicious! Service great! And the ambience and view were lovely.

We love Departure. My sole complaint would be that the tables are so close together, but even with that, somehow the noise level never seems to exceed what’s reasonable. The food is simply over-the-top delicious. And we’ve never had service that was anything but perfect.

Perfect place for a special celebration or to make an ordinary night special! Best food in an unmatched ambience!

i specifically requested in my reservation for someone to bring my boyfriend a dessert with a candle for his 27th birthday and no one brought him anything, no one even offered us a dessert. i was so disappointed, i chose this spot to celebrate his birthday and you all failed at my one single request.

Fantastic! Interesting airline theme. Food and service was amazing. The crispy pork belly is a must and the peanut butter and jelly tart dessert was the best ever!

Went on our anniversary and had a waiter named Austin who was outstanding! My boyfriend and I have been to Portland before but didn’t go to any fancy dinner places like this. We’re of asian decent and wanted to try pan-asian cuisine and the food was not bad. The only downside is that we wanted to try the chefs special but because my bf has nut-allergies we were not able to do it- although they did have a nut-free menu (which I think ALL restaurants should have).. With that being said, I wish they had a nut-free chefs special for people that would like to experience it but can’t because of nuts.

Overall, we loved the place. Would come back again!

I love this restaurant! I have been here three times bringing different people. It's a great place to take a date or go out with friends. The food is amazing (they have a gluten free, vegan, and a non-shell fish menu) and there is a deck with a city view where you can enjoy a cocktail. If you are not vegan, I recommend asking for the vegan/gluten free menu on top of the regular menu because you get more of a variety. I am not vegan, but some of my favorite dishes from Departure are from the vegan menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant is unique and trendy. The service is excellent and the waiters really help you with making a selection. It's also pretty affordable considering the high quality food, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! Just be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

Our experience at Departure could not have been better. We had a very large group that that was handled with extreme skill and patience. The food, timing of the dishes, cocktails, and the ambiance was simply perfect. Thank you very much for making our time there so enjoyable.

Had dinner with my son....we ordered solely off the vegan menu —all i can say is it was excellent, complex flavors, well presented. This was fun and a genuinely good eating experience.

Very imaginative cuisine and wonderfully helpful staff. There was a very strange 3 percent fee tacked on the bill without a reasonable explanation.

Austin was such a blast! All of his recommendations were spot on. Such a wonderful way to spend our anniversary. The food was outstanding and the staff was very accommodating.

The food was exquisite. It is family style, which is much more fun because you get to try so many other things. The service was outstanding. We sat at a tall table right by the entrance, which was an unfortunate location. It was noisy and due to my height my feet just dangled in the air. I would go again, but would request a different table.
