Deno's Mountain Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Service was amazing. As someone who works in the restaurant business, our waitress was very professional and friendly, and I have only great things to say. I thought the food was extremely over priced for what we got & really disappointing. The great wine selection was a plus. I’d try it again, however will be sure to stay away from the pasta selections.
Deno’s never disappoints! We eat here every time we visit Winter Park (4+ times a year). Everything I’ve ever ordered has been delicious. Their steak is juicy and always perfectly cooked, and my family raves about the bread. I also love that their menu changes periodically, but they keep the dishes they are known for.
Overall, really enjoyed our time at Deno's. We went there for our anniversary, arrived early to our reserved time and they still sat us right away. Our waiter was very attentive but at first felt like he was rushing us a bit to turn tables (it was very busy) but then settled in a bit as we engaged him in conversation. Very extensive wine list, one of the best I have ever seen, markup on the wine is average. The bottle choices, however, are not extensive for under $100. Food was good, greek salad was awesome and huge portions, pizza was good and the Ribeye Steak was cooked perfect and had great flavor but was in my opinion not cut thick enough (was probably less than 1" thick cut). Overall, a good restaurant choice and would go back if we found ourselves in Winter Park.
We were a bit late for our reservation but did call ahead to let them know we were late due to snowfall in Winter Park. They held the table for us.
The service was adequate but our server did not bring us bread although it was promised or take our drink order before trying to get us to order our food. We eventually had to ask a manger for the bread and then remind our waiter to check on our drink orders before our food arrived. The place was not overly crowded and there were not people waiting to be seated, as far as we could see, but it did feel like we were being rushed a bit.
The food was very good and I am happy we went. It is a bit on the expensive side and I wish the steaks were lower priced, mid $20 would be a much better price point rather than close to $40.00. Even my mid to late teenage sons were surprised by the prices and considered this when picking out their meals. How often does that happen?
Thank you so much for having us there on Thursday night, January 4th. We had a great time. We started at the bar with drinks and appetizers and moved over to regular seating when our reservation time came up. We had the Trout and the Salmon and shared it because they were both so good! Thank you for giving me a wonderfully romantic place to take my wife after a full day of skiing and family fun. The salmon was so perfect, I can't wait to visit and get it again! Trout is my favorite fish and you did not let me down!
The food was very good and everyone in our group of 6 enjoyed their choice. The service was not as great. We ordered a salad that never came. When asked about it the waiter said he would bring it and take it off the bill. Then he said, “well you don’t want that now do you?”
I ordered the soup de jour, they brought me chili instead because they were out of the stew. I would have appreciated a choice once it was determined they were out of the soup of the day.
Despite those two hiccups, we would definitely return!
Four of us went for NYE weekend dinner. The apps were amazing (Gorgonzola cheese dip and Greek platter). The dinners were mostly good (lobster ravioli, filet and lobster special, Ragu pasta and a NT strip steak) ... one steak was terribly overdone and at that price point, this should NEVER happen. The other slightly disappointing occurrence is that our soup and salads came out BEFORE our appetizers. The drink menu is vast and there is something for everyone on it.
Date night with my wife. Very warm and cozy. Great food without having to worry about a suit. The menu is varied and both of us had plenty of choices. Lamb is a good test and theirs was falling of the bone. Beautifully prepared filet (maybe a slight underdone). Service was wonderful. Will be back on our next visit to Winter Park
Food good, perhaps a bit off for this place. It is a Winter Park stable, always good. Be prepared for a long wait during high ski times and generally is noisy. The hang out for many long time Park Skiers. Wide variety of food from pizza, and burgers to steak and more gourmet entrees.
Enjoyed Christmas dinner 2017 with the family here. I was super worried because I was hoping to have a great experience for my families first day in winter park... on Christmas. The server was great. The ambiance was perfect. Busy, bustling but spiritful. Perfect for what we were looking for. Great food!
We reserved a table for Christmas Day dinner for our family. My husband's mussels were great as was the Asiago Cheese Fondue appetizer dip. My son's burger was well done although it was ordered medium rare. My very expensive crab legs were the big disappointment as some were barely warm and a few even cold to the touch. The potatoes underneath were soggy and for the price I was thoroughly disappointed.
Christmas Day, waiter was amazing, ambience great, food was over priced and ok. Husband loved turkey duck soup, filet was way over salted but cooked well, Caesar salad had a slight red wine vinegar taste. Good place but not stellar. Was expecting more, but I’m used to Dallas and Houston food.
Had reservations but got in 30 minutes early so that was nice.
Heard Deno’s was one of the best restaurants in Winter Park. Had no expectations really. The wine we chose was good, but the turducken soup was overly salty, the trout had bones and was fileted poorly, and the lamb shank while tender came with polenta that was more like grits. Heck I like grits but polenta isn’t supposed to be chunky, but rather creamy. The tuna poke was the best thing I had .
