Dempsey's Steakhouse at Saddlebrook Resort
We went to Dempseys's Steakhouse for the first time. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and decided to try this restaurant which we had never visited before.
We wondered a little when we first pulled up to the gate of the community thinking we might not get in but there was a guard stand. The guard took our name and gave us directions.
The guard told us to turn right at the blinking stop sign but our GPS said to turn left. We took a long way around to find that we could not get to the restaurant and had to go back and follow the guard's directions.
The restaurant was in a temporary location because the permanent location was being renovated. This concerned us a little because we weren't sure where the food was being prepared. This turned out to be a non-issue as the food was prompt and hot.
We had clam chowder and onion soup as appetizers and bone-in rib eye steak for our meal. All were excellent. The clam chowder had a little different seasoning that we are used to but was delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and tasted very good. There was almost no gristle as you often find in this cut.
The chef made a wonderful individual apple pie for my wife's birthday celebration and wrote a huge happy birthday on a large serving plate with the dessert down on the end. What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday.
Thank you very much for making my wife's birthday one to remember, Demsey's staff.
The main restaurant was closed for renovations. The environment that was substituted was not up to standards for such a pricey meal. There was only 1 server for 4 tables. We had to wait a while for our food, water refills and salt/pepper. When our food did arrive, it was lukewarm
I believe the original building is under renovation so they had the restaurant somewhere else. The food was outstanding, service was great as well. I didn’t like the dining area. There weren’t even that many people dining but some how I felt so squished. It was also very hot and humid in the room as well. But the food was delicious. I’d definitely go back, but only when the original restaurant opens back up.
Dempsey’s was closed due to renovations. This was not shared. They moved dining to a small room next to the bar and called Dempsey’s. When we booked it said only 6 tables left - there were only 8 in this small room. When you go to Dempsey’s you go for the ambiance - very disappointing for an anniversary! Staff was excellent. Meal came out lukewarm and was sent back. Returned hot and was very good. Steaks are as good as Roth’s Chris and Capital Grill but again served like warm. NO excuse, shame on the chef. No salad bar at this temporary location. Dessert was comp’d and much appreciated. $5 for valet parking was inappropriate as there is no self parking.
Good not great and for the price expected more. Service and ambiance very good but food average and very pricey.
We had eight for dinner. The service and the food were excellent. Price was a little high but expected. Would recommend for at least one night of your stay.
We arrived early for our reservation and the restaurant was empty. We were disappointed to learn that we could not be seated for a while so we went to the bar and ended up eating dinner there. The bartender, Erin, was delightful and our meals were good.
My husband and I have visited Dempsey's in the past. We decided to stay at Saddlebrook and celebrate our anniversary dinner there. Service always wonderful. Food stellar!!!
Awesome first experience. Our server Juan was really good. Food was excellent. Only thing that was not great was our seating. We were a party of 2 with advanced reservation and the place was not crowded for a Saturday at 7PM. We were seated in a small corner by the exit. Probably should have asked for a different table. Otherwise, good experience, we’ll be back.
Dempsey's was a nice restaurant with good food and our waiter was very kind. However, the manager/ maitre d was ridiculously rude. We had made reservations for a bigger group and at the last minute had to switch things up because of circumstances beyond our control. He stated he had to completely redo his dining room and was extremely annoyed with us. I even offered to help him rearrange whatever he needed help with. Totally uncalled for and we were the ONLY ones besides a four top in the entire restaurant. Boo!
We have mixed feelings. It was awkward walking 100 yards from the resort to the restaurant. What would you do if it was raining? We got there an hour early and went to the bar. Nice overall with great service. Our waitress in the main dining room was very prompt and gave us some recommendations. We rate her a 10. Ceasar salad was bland and we didn't think it was worth $22.00 for the both of us. We don't think it compares to other fine steak houses like Capital Grill, Flemings or Ocean prime.
Excellent service, is not everyday you find place so good within your backyard.
This is our go to place! The food is always consistent and the service is outstanding. It's a first class restaurant tucked away in the hollows of Wesley Chapel, FL...best kept secret! I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Definitely not the same Dempsay’s from 20 and 30 years ago. Service was mediocre failed to refill our water, or wine glasses. Caesar salad was overdressed.Menu selection hasn’t changed, would’ve been nice to have something new on the menu
One of the best filets I have ever had. Be prepared to spend a lot of money though. Everything is ala cart. Nine dollars for smashed potatoes? That's a bit much. Again, the steaks were amazing and it's worth it for a special occasion.
I ate it Dempsey's the very first time in 1986 and I must report it's been better each time Tuesday was As Good As It Gets. Great wait service Pleasant friendly, nice experience once again.
Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful from start to finish. Oysters were huge and delicious, steaks were phenomenal and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!
Always great steak!
ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT DEMPSEYS
Dempsey's Steakhouse has great food with good service, but for a premium price.
Amazing. The food and service were beyond my expectations. Highly recommended!
We stayed at Saddlebrook for 7 nights. We were glad the food was so good because there were no other choices. The staff was great, but the dining room and bar are terribly dated. Just like the guest rooms. Pretty disappointing.
Special occasion for my wife’s birthday.
salad bar was poorly maintained and not very visibly appealing. changed more than a few times who was serving our table (not a big deal) but never really felt like anybody cared about how we were doing. Steak ordered was not what I got. they tried to correct it and brought out a filet that was more medium well than medium rare. $4.00 for a small glass of milk and a meal priced out at $140 for 2 without drinks. overpriced and food wasn't good
Thank you for a great anniversary dinner experience!
We have been there several times before and never had any issues. We were celebrating my wife’s 50th birthday Saturday and the service was awful. It took our main course over an hour to get to us after appetizers. Very disappointing.
We loved the whole experience. It was my birthday. We went with two other couples and were seated at a lovely circular table with a view of the park. The steaks were outstanding; the service was friendly and prompt. Valet parking was very efficient. Just one caveat: unless your sense of direction is much superior to mine, you'll likely need a GPS to find your way out of the park in the dark.
Always a great meal
Date with my Lovely Wife
The service was slow. Sometimes had to ask twice for drinks. We were in a room with a large party of men and they were very loud sometimes making it difficult to hear across our own table.
A steak house should be able to prepare tender meat cooked to the requested temperature. Very disappointing.
Emily was an excellent waitress. She really took care of us
The service was absolutely exceptional. The quality of the food was excellent and the location really nice. We will definitely be repeat customers.
First time dining at Dempsey's and it exceeded our expectations!
Food was delicious but the glassware smelled like pond water or fish. When you’re ordering a bottle of wine that is on the higher price this should never happen.
The restaurant was fairly busy because the sports bar seemed busy. Staff seemed stressed and Host was very rude upon my arrival. I understand when people are busy (which is a good thing) but attitude is never appropriate when I spend $88 on a meal for one.
Best sea bass I’ve ever had! Baked potato is enormous and salted on the outside.
Our server Amanda was rude until it came time to give us our check. Then she was semi-friendly. The food is unnecessarily expensive.
Ate here last night for the first time. We live in Wesley Chapel, the land of chain restaurants,so we were excited to try some fine dining without having to drive to Tampa. The food was good, but the kitchen very slow, three hours from the time we sat down till we were finally finished, for 3 people. The waitress was attentive, the wine list was good and expansive. The restaurant was packed for a Tuesday evening and very noisy. I don't know if I could recommend it for a quiet, romantic dinner. All in all, I think I would give it another chance
