We enjoyed a business lunch. Waiter was helpful to accommodate special diet concerns. The crabcake appetizer was delicious with lots of crab.
I was really looking forward to this restaurant but I was disappointed. Food was passable but not memorable, table settings pretty but unremarkable. Perhaps it was a slow night; cocktails less than stellar. My steak was tasty but rather fatty. My side dishes were lukewarm. Our server tried but seemed distant. Overall the experience didn’t make me want to return.
The restaurant was elegant, the view was beautiful. The food was fantastic and service was excellent. We have a new favorite restaurant.
Very nice experience. Thank you!
The staff was very friendly. The dining area was very comfortable. The food was fantastic
Food and service was excellent.
Great experience dining out on the river. Good value. The menu worked for us!
We enjoyed the Delta King very much, meeting an old friend and stayed a long, long time talking the old days. We all ate the shrimp Louie salad which was great, good shrimp, asparagus and dressing, and service wa excellent. Waitress with dark hair on early shift took good care of us. Thanks so much.
As always, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here a couple of nights ago. All previous compliments still apply but on top of the usual, the service was especially impressive this time. We were a bit rushed because of a 7:00 concert we were attending, and the staff made sure we were served with time to spare so we were able to relax and enjoy the excellent meal. (She had the seafood cioppino, and I had my usual there, the andouille and shrimp.) We'll definitely be back.
You went from my wife’s birthday and she had an amazing time the waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive had a great time I will definitely be back
We were there for a Birthday celebration while on vacation.
The restaurant comped us with a birthday dessert for the guest of honor.
Beautiful interior & rich with history.
Wonderful server (Alice) who aptly recommended a great wine that perfectly paired with dinner.
The hostess(Michaela) provided a warm welcome, & Alice added warmth to our dining experience.
beautiful view, great food and great service, only thing i would have changed is the music because it made the entire ambience a bit off - they were playing pop music (ex: ariana grande)
My boyfriend and i are in our 20's but we still knew it absolutely did not fit the ambience of the boat - they should be playing jazz or classical!
busy night, food was good but the service was extrememly SLOW. Our cocktail server should have been a waiter in the restaaurant, he was much better than the server we had
Nice spot for a special occasion.
Great all around service! Dinner was excellent as well.
My stake was burnt. So 38 dollars out for a bad stake. But my wife’s dinner was excellent. It was nice old charming.
Food was great, service was amazing and you cant beat the atmosphere.
Food was very good. Service was the best. Very nice place to eat at. Enjoyed the feeling of eating on a Very nice River Boot.
When ordering a steak, I said, Well Done, No Pink at all please. They brought my steak back red inside. Despite it being VERY SLOW it took a long time for the waiter to make his way back around so I could let him know the issue. It took a long time for the steak to come back, AGAIN it was STILL VERY pink! I had to wait again for the waiter to come back around to state the issue. The waiter make a remark that it was the most resistant steak he'd ever seen... What? Had to wait a long time again for it to come out, like ridiculously, my date felt awkward trying to eat as slow as possible as his food grew cold (I kept telling him to go ahead and eat while it was warm, but he wanted to be polite). Then my food came out again, the steak was finally not pink, but the sides were ice cold from it taking so long, that's a pretty obvious oversight for a kitchen. I didn't want to send my plate back again since we were already there for an hour trying to get my food after the initial order, so I ate the cold veggies and only a little of the mashed potatoes which were poor quality/taste. The steak was good, but my date and I both ended up with stomach aches. He thinks they used too much oil in the salmon & potatoes. I asked that my meal be comped due to the ongoing inconveniences. The waiter came back after talking to the manager and said they'd only comp half of just my meal. I thought that was pretty cheap on their part. ***There was an Irish American Rock Band upstairs in the bar, One Eyed Reilly, that was really great. We stayed after a bit to listen to them.
Too expensive, 84 bucks for soup, small dish of scallops and a small dessert. you kidding? not a good value for the portion received. food was a bit bland too. I have had better lobster bisque out of a can.
Everything was great the only thing that bothered me a little was waiting a little after our reservation time other than that it was great
I requested quiet seating for 2, prior to me dining in. When we arrived to check in the host did not acknowledge my request of "quiet, and awkwardly seats us next to the loudest family, first mistake. Second, the table was set for 4, I would have waited the extra 2 minutes to have it pre bussed of the other glasses and utensils before we sat down causing more awkwardness. After sitting I watched the host seat 2 tables across the room window seating for table for 2. I was very disappointed. I could not even carry a conversation over the table next to us. Maybe I should have said something, but I did not want to be "that guy", The food was great and our server was awesome. This place just needs to work on the details.
great food, great service. my girlfriend and i had a great time here.we loved it
Special was swordfish. The sauce on the swordfish was terrible. It ruined the fish.
My daughter and I made dinner reservations here because we have been to Old Town often but had never been aboard. We had theatre tickets for the evening and wanted a special “just us” dinner. The food was fabulous, I had the salmon, she had the special for the night, red snapper. The ambiance was delightful. The service superb.
It is hard to find parking in Old Town so take advantage of their valet parking services. Well worth the extra $8. We will go back. I would like to take my husband there and she is looking forward to going again with her fiancé.
The food was excellent and so was the service. We had a great birthday celebration and would eat there again.
We were visiting the area for a trade show. My wife wanted a nice dining experience near Old Town Sac. In researching the area, I found the Pilot House, a nice dining experience on a riverboat, anchored on the Sac River.
I was initially apprehensive as this a known tourist area and I did not expect too much but wanted to provide my wife a better than normal restaurant experience. She liked it immediately! Beautifully restored riverboat made her think of another time. From the phone conversations with the hostess to change times, etc., very friendly and accommodating to our changed plans. The sat us right away with river views. It took awhile to realize the boat was not quite level as it was a boat on water but nothing negative about that as it added to the charm.
The server was friendly, informative, timely and attentive without being pushy. Our cheese appetizer was a hit with the "boss", with food brought out timely and hot! There is a nice selection on the menu offering choices from angus burgers, caesar salads, steaks and our selection of wild salmon, cooked just right, hot and moist not dried out on a bed of fresh veggies.
No room for a selection of desserts but will try them next time. The drinks were mixed well, tasty and generous portions at a reasonable price for call brands.
Overall, the pricing was less than we expected for such a touristy area, will go again, and next time enjoy the quaintness of the upstairs lounge.
The entire experience was great! The food was amazing and the wine selection was perfect! The only negative I have is the service is a little slow. We will go again for sure!
Great Service and very good food. However about 2/3 of the way through the main course, another waiter sprayed cleaner on the table next to us and the smell was so overpowering that we could not finish the meal. Manager was very apologetic. She offered each of us another glass of wine but the smell was too offensive so she gave us an additional dessert.
Food and dessert were boxed up and tasted good later. We will return
I reserved a table and asked for a window seat, the dining room hostess said they were not available. We said we would wait for a window but then said she just seated all the window seats. So she sat the window seats and ignored our reservation request, then got a bit snippy about it. So we decided to sit in the bar instead. Thankfully our waitress was fantastic, very personable and attentive, made great recommendations and made up for our initial negative first impression. Food was really good, try the mushroom appetizer and maple bacon pork chop entree with risotto! Cocktails were well-made and atmosphere was historic, romantic and unique.
Delta King never lets me down.... great food, great service, great place!
Had brunch here on Jan 14, 2018. Had never eaten on the Delta King but found the restaurant quaint with good service and excellent food. I had the Salmon Eggs benedict which was outstanding.
We dined...as we intended to do. We ordered from the Prefix Menu on the Dine Downtown Sacramento promotion. Our server, Mark, provided excellent service. He alone kept the water poured, dishes picked up and main course served hot, amazingly hot as if it was directly in the frying pan one minute before (that hardly ever happens). It has been a long time since all four of us have had an excellent meal out as we did at the Pilot House.
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband here. We were not disappointed, from the service and atmosphere to the delicious food and complimentary birthday cake with candle for my husband at the end of the meal, we can't wait to return!
Food was very tasty and served at a good plate temperature. Service was timely/courteous and atmosphere was very mellow. Jesse was an excellent server and would ask for her in the future.
Had dinner reservations here on the 6th of January. Our waiter Jamie was very attentive and a great waiter. We had ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer if it was our choice we wouldn't order again. We both ordered the New York steak dinner, steak med well. The steak was new York, nothing special, Our dinner came with mashed potatoes and brocollini wish were vey good. We will be back and dine at the Pilothouse again but will order something different.
This was a vary nice place!! Beautiful view!! Prefect for date night it a little pricey for the service but the food is great!!!
The Delta King Hotel/Restaurant/Bar has been wonderfully restored. Front desk personnel were very helpful, the bartenders friendly and attentive. Dining in The Pilothouse was very pleasurable - both food and service were excellent.
Every item we ordered was unique and delicious. The dining room was attractive and staff was friendly!
Went for Christmas Eve dinner with my mom, and 4 and7 year old children. The kids live the fact that we were eating on a "boat". I enjoyed the view. Waitress was very receptive to or needs also.
