Dels Enoteca Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
Location was extremely convenient as we were staying at the attached hotel. The food, overall, was satisfactory. However, the timing of service and food prep leaves a lot to be desired. It took over an hour to receive any bread or appetizers. We weren't in a rush, but did not expect to spend 2 1/2 hours to complete our meal.
I was excited to take my family to Dels. We love Italian and pizza and heard of this place owned by the Wideman family. We made reservations for a Saturday night and found the service terribly slow. Our Caesar salads were chopped up into little pieces and barely had any dressing on it. My wife and I ordered pizza''s and hers was served in a puddle of water. We sent it back and got another one exactly the same. The waitress was fantastic, the manager comped us deserts, which was nice, however our family dinner experience was not a good one, considering we did not get to eat at the same time. My wife decided to take the pizza home. We reheated it the next day and found a ball of hair in it and because it was packaged wet, it stuck to the cardboard box. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. I do have to say that the staff were fantastic.
We decided to deal with October weather blues by going out for some fun and good food. Del's is consistently bang-on with this. It took longer than expected to be acknowledged by the four hostesses but we we're then promptly seated and greeted by our waiter Chris who is charming, fun, sincere and well-versed in the menu. Instead of ordering the usual app and main we wanted to share and sample a bunch of different items. Chris and the kitchen were very accommodating. Even Dave the general manager was very much part of the team delivering food, clearing tables and talking to guests. Great vibe, not too loud, cool decor and we loved everything we tried. Next time we have to try the pizza. That will be soon.
A friend recommended Dels and we decided to go for our anniversary dinner. We had an 830 reservation so the place had quieted down significantly by the time we got there. The service was excellent and the place is beautiful. For the appetizer we had the Arancini (stuffed risotto balls) and they were excellent. It's too bad there were only 3 of them. I'd recommend having an option for 5 or 6 and just charging more. For diner my wife had the Zucchini Primavera. I had a taste and it was very good. I had the Braised beef Ragu. There was lots of beef, which was a plus, but the dish overall was very bland. I expected a lot more flavor. I'm not a picky eater but I wouldn't recommend that particular dish. Overall it was a good experience.
Wanted to try Del’s for a birthday celebration in March, but list was too long and we couldn’t wait. We decided to celebrate 16-year-old daughter’s birthday there a few days ago, since two other daughters go to university (Guelph & Laurier) close by. Made reservations for an early dinner before arriving in Kitchener. We’re so glad we didn’t change our minds! Great service & delicious food brought to us in a timely manner. Only one thing missing from the menu...some kind of soup should be offered, especially since colder seasons ahead. Waitress did call upstairs restaurant to see what was available, but the only one didn’t suit my daughter’s taste. Everyone loved the family special. Caesar salad, margarita pizza and the chicken tetrazzini were all soooo good. We’ll definitely be returning!
It was pretty good overall a couple of small things. We asked for another flower pot bread(it is awesome with the herb garlic butter) and never got it. Would of preferred a booth seat and we should of asked because we had young kids with us and it is better for us to be tucked away from all the foot traffic.
We had the Chicken Parm and the Beef Tenderloin with Risotto. Overall it was great. The one thing that made it a 4 for me was I felt the risotto though delicious had sat for a while on my plate. You can tell with the way it looked. I would have preferred it been plated at the same times as my steak. But service was great and over all we were quite happy here. Will definitly go again.
Food was good but our waitress Allison would simply disappear for long periods of time (over 15-20 minutes). We waited a long time to order then once we ordered we waited a long time for the meal to come . Somebody else brought the salad and somebody else brought our meal later. When we were done there was no sign of Allison and we waited a long time and finally someone else cleared our dishes. We waited a long time to pay and finally Allison showed up . The bill was $82 and we decided to pay cash with a $100 bill. Allison first asked if we wanted change which is ridiculous. This would have meant an $18 tip on a $82 ( after tax) meal, a 22 % tip which was not due because of the bad service. Then when we said yes Allison asked us how much change she should bring which is a very distasteful thing for a waitress to say to a customer as she was putting us on the spot to give her a tip. We told her to bring all the change. I left a $10 tip which she did not deserve since all she really did was take our order then bring the bill and nothing in between.
So my experience was overall good as the food was delicious as always but seriously Allison needs to do her job and she needs to develop some customer service skills
Everything was excellent with only minor exception. We ordered the calamari as our appetizer. We've enjoyed this dish before and were looking forward to it. This time the calamari wasn't stuffed with the sausage as it was previously, the sausage was served on the side. Also the olives served with the dish overpowered the other flavours. Aside from this small issue the rest of our meal was fantastic and the service, as always, was great.
Food was disappointing and the server really wasn't that interested in being there. For a place that specializes in Italian food, the pasta was dry and didn't taste fresh, the food was too salty, the pizza crust was burnt and overall didn't taste good.
