Dels Enoteca Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
We went for Valentines and there was a fixed menu. I was a little skeptical about that. I have not had great success with fixed menus in the past. I am also a foody and my wow factor with food is set pretty hight! Well I was pleasantly surprised! The calamari was impeccable! The main was a pistachio encrusted halibut that was to die for! It was cooked perfectly (that has been an issue in the past when I have order halibut, it really needs to be cooked perfectly to shine) The flavors in the bean ragu were amazing and it stood up against a Spanish Rioja (I was a little hesitant with e wine but it married beautifully) The desert was a chocolate mouse with a raspberry sorbet over a dark cookie crumble. Wow!
My compliments to the chef and staff for a vert memorable meal!
Good and waitress where great however I was really disappointed I tried to order two fruity alcoholic drink and you didn’t have what was required for either of them :( so I settled for a Diet Coke . If you don’t have the alcohol required for a drink maybe it shouldn’t be on your drink menu
Went to Del’s for their all you can eat mussels special on Monday evening. Everyone was very friendly from the hostess to server our server, Quinn, to others in the restaurant. It just looked like everyone working there was truly enjoying themselves, and this translated to a very positive vibe in the reassurance. The flowerpot bread was warm and delicious. The mussels, which they change each week were the best I’ve ever had. First of all, they were huge! Second, they were prepared with a tomato base sauce, to which they added onions, capers, hot peppers/chilli and arugula. Very flavourful without being too spicy. We definitely got our money’s worth, and we can’t wait to return again in the future! A nice touch as well was the manager popping by our table to check everything was alright. I mean, I’ve been to places where they’ve done this before, but certainly not as genuine as at Del’s. We felt very appreciated as customers— almost like we were family!
I was dining here with my girlfriends. We ordered 2 apps, risotto balls and saganaki. Our waiter told us there would be 4 balls, we received 3 (they were very good and there were only 3 of us so it worked out). But the risotto balls were the only app we received, the saganaki was not brought out to us. Then our mains came. I asked for no tomatoes and there were tomatoes. The waiter then asked me if I wanted it fixed...of course?! Now my two friends
didn’t start eating until I got my food, so there’s began to go cold. The manager came over to let me know it was on its way. Then we asked our waiter about the second appetizer and he said it would be out in 2 mins. My food was brought back out, it was zucchini pasta. My noodles were hard and crunchy, as was everything else, like it had been quickly rushed together. There was also a big pool of water in the bottom of the dish. Then finally when we are all done our mains our second app arrives. I politely asked for it to be taken away, we were full and were not going to eat it. Then after about 20 mins of waiting we got our bills and I was kind of surprised nothing had been comp’d, usually the charcoal group is really good for this sort of thing. At the time of my visit I also was working at one of the charcoal reastaurants in town and was denied my employee affiliation discount because I failed to mention it in my reservation, which is what I was told by my waiter, who said his manager argued with him about it. The experience left a really bad taste in my mouth, even my friends said they were unlikely to return. The experience was poor and the recovery was non-existent. Very disappointed.
Location was extremely convenient as we were staying at the attached hotel. The food, overall, was satisfactory. However, the timing of service and food prep leaves a lot to be desired. It took over an hour to receive any bread or appetizers. We weren't in a rush, but did not expect to spend 2 1/2 hours to complete our meal.
I was excited to take my family to Dels. We love Italian and pizza and heard of this place owned by the Wideman family. We made reservations for a Saturday night and found the service terribly slow. Our Caesar salads were chopped up into little pieces and barely had any dressing on it. My wife and I ordered pizza''s and hers was served in a puddle of water. We sent it back and got another one exactly the same. The waitress was fantastic, the manager comped us deserts, which was nice, however our family dinner experience was not a good one, considering we did not get to eat at the same time. My wife decided to take the pizza home. We reheated it the next day and found a ball of hair in it and because it was packaged wet, it stuck to the cardboard box. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. I do have to say that the staff were fantastic.
We decided to deal with October weather blues by going out for some fun and good food. Del's is consistently bang-on with this. It took longer than expected to be acknowledged by the four hostesses but we we're then promptly seated and greeted by our waiter Chris who is charming, fun, sincere and well-versed in the menu. Instead of ordering the usual app and main we wanted to share and sample a bunch of different items. Chris and the kitchen were very accommodating. Even Dave the general manager was very much part of the team delivering food, clearing tables and talking to guests. Great vibe, not too loud, cool decor and we loved everything we tried. Next time we have to try the pizza. That will be soon.
A friend recommended Dels and we decided to go for our anniversary dinner. We had an 830 reservation so the place had quieted down significantly by the time we got there. The service was excellent and the place is beautiful. For the appetizer we had the Arancini (stuffed risotto balls) and they were excellent. It's too bad there were only 3 of them. I'd recommend having an option for 5 or 6 and just charging more. For diner my wife had the Zucchini Primavera. I had a taste and it was very good. I had the Braised beef Ragu. There was lots of beef, which was a plus, but the dish overall was very bland. I expected a lot more flavor. I'm not a picky eater but I wouldn't recommend that particular dish. Overall it was a good experience.
Wanted to try Del’s for a birthday celebration in March, but list was too long and we couldn’t wait. We decided to celebrate 16-year-old daughter’s birthday there a few days ago, since two other daughters go to university (Guelph & Laurier) close by. Made reservations for an early dinner before arriving in Kitchener. We’re so glad we didn’t change our minds! Great service & delicious food brought to us in a timely manner. Only one thing missing from the menu...some kind of soup should be offered, especially since colder seasons ahead. Waitress did call upstairs restaurant to see what was available, but the only one didn’t suit my daughter’s taste. Everyone loved the family special. Caesar salad, margarita pizza and the chicken tetrazzini were all soooo good. We’ll definitely be returning!
