Delphine - W Hotel Hollywood
Our waitress was slow to respond and not very friendly
It is convenient to the theater and the ambiance is lovely, but the food was not very good. The service was also slow and it wasn't very busy at all. We did have one busboy who was lovely though.
We read great reviews for Delphine and decided to book a pre-Pantages dinner here. We were hoping for a special night-out. What we got was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in a long time. From the second she walked up to our table, our server clearly didn't want to be there. I don't know if there have been recent changes to the kitchen but the menu was a limited version of the menu I saw posted on Open Table and the food was terrible. We ordered the mussels appetizer, which was the highlight of the meal. Then we proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. Our food was not coming out and our server was nowhere to be seen (well, we saw her chatting with the bartender but she didn't come over to our table to explain why our food was not arriving). After much waiting, I asked the busser to please find our server. The restaurant was quite empty so there was no way that the kitchen was slammed. Also, other diners who arrived long after us received their dinners before us.
When our food finally arrived, we were even further disappointed. My dish (the striped sea bass) was mediocre. My husband ordered the chicken, which turned out to be a bland, boiled chicken. Really subpar food. And expensive. When the bill arrived, 17% gratuity was included (we usually tip far more, having waited tables in the past). We're not generally complainers, but given the price of the dinner and the terrible service we received, after much back and forth, we decided to talk to the manager - who recognized we had received terrible service, apologized, and agreed that forcing customers to pay the gratuity did not incentivize good service. In fact, it is infuriating and insulting when the service is so bad.
The crowning moment came when our server slammed our receipt on the table and said in the most aggressive, sarcastic way possible "Have a FABULOUS night!" Ensuring once and for all that we will never go back.
Apparently they just changed chefs. The food was mediocre at best, the menu was extremely limited and disorganized, and the meals came out 20 minutes apart. I was a fan of the restaurant before but it is horrible now.
The night we went 2 chefs didn’t show up. Service was SO bad it even took 15 minutes to bring a scoop of gelato. Our waiter had such an attitude. Food was ok good location if seeing a show but I’d go sit outside heard was much better and different menu!!!!! I’d pass next time...
The service was excellent thanks to Jeremy and his team!
Food was amazing.. highly recommend the corn & the brussel sprouts. Setting is comfortable, romantic. Outdoor bar with nice fireplace. Service was outstanding.
I should have known we were in for a disappointment when we had to walk all the way from the hotel side of the restaurant to the Hollywood Blvd entry to be seated - through the restaurant. Whoever decided to have people walk to the furthest entry from the valet parking to be seated should be fired and replaced with someone competent.
I also should have known if only I had spent more time looking over their limited menu.
My wife found exactly two items on the menu that even remotely appealed to her, and even those were "upgraded" with extras that made the item no longer resemble what it was supposed to be. I mean, a Caesar Salad with bacon in it is not a Caesar. I love bacon, but that's just silly.
In the end, my wife ordered a sandwich from the bar menu and I ordered the braised rib, which came with ONE tiny piece of meat (hidden under pasta), which was fairly tender and had a pretty decent flavor - BUT the vegetables which supposedly were cooked in the same stew were raw and the accompanying pasta was not just bland, but it was also burnt, which gave off that distinct aroma of burnt food - and it tasted like it too. Even after returning the plate and getting a new one, the pasta still had the same burnt sections.
Our server did his best to make sure we left happy, and our disappointment wasn't his fault. The management of this restaurant needs to be replaced. The head chef needs to be replaced. The whole kitchen staff needs to be replaced by people who take their jobs seriously.
After all was said and done, I paid about $70 for about 2 ounces of meat and a second rate sandwich with no mayo. In my opinion Delphine is a completely ridiculous restaurant and I'm sorry I made the mistake of letting its proximity to the Pantages be the deciding factor when I made the reservation. What a miserable experience.
Everything we could have hoped for.
This restaurant offers convenient dining pre or post theater. The Caesar salad with shrimp with bacon was delicious, especially with the added garlic shrimp. We got a few selections of desserts including the French toast sticks and corn creme brulee. The creme brulee was delicious. Our dining experience was accentuated by the excellent service provided by our waiter, Steven. He was friendly, attentive, and catered to our sense of humor. The grapefruit cocktail the bartender made was delicous, too. Kudos to Delphine for taking great care of us after a great show!
Very nice servers and very good food.
The Angus Strip Steak was excellent as was the tomato and buratta appetizer. The service was not very attentive.
Really good food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Decent food, served hot, fabulous service and excellent location if you’re going to the Pantages theatre, as it’s across the street
Our stay at the Hotel was not a good one the room and A/C unit where horrible but that is well documented on a previous question
a nice place to eat and have a drink before a show
Waiter was rude from the start. Forgot our drinks several times. He did nothing but watch videos with his friends on the next table over. Didn't even bother checking on us and ask us how our food were. I was with my elderly (80+yrs old) uncle and his girlfriend and he acted like he was annoyed by us.
Horrible experience. I made a reservation on OpenTable and then when I got there, they said they decided to close early. Not even a sorry. Lame. Later I tried the food via room service in the hotel and it was all very bad and overpriced. Don’t go here. You’ve been warned.
Good food and very good service. Restaurant layout is a little odd as our table was basically in the server's station. Limited menu options but quality food.
Great Service from Jeremy that night! Food was excellent! What a great place to have dinner at before a show at the Pantages!!!!
Only went there because the Pantages is across the street. Not worth the price. OK food
I have been to Delphine's several times in the past. I've always thought the food was okay but never outstanding. Service could be a hit or miss. It seems like the wait and bussing staff look up in the celing and do not try to make eye-contact to see if their customers want something - perhaps more water, coffee or simply to clear dishes. This time they were very eager to put away to bus our tables. Their location is very convenient to Pantages. I think that is the only reason why we come here to dine.
Food and service was excellent. I'm very particular about wine and coffee and I was impressed by both. I would definitely recommend and return.
Whenever I caught a performance at the Pantage I always select the Delphine for a meal before the show. The food is excellent and the customer service is first rate. Also, you get an excellent meal for a very reasonable price. Walt
The short ribs were amazing!
The food was great, but the service was polite but slow. When you automatically include a 17% tip to every single meal regardless of party size, the waiter does not try as hard to be attentive, or he just had way too many tables for one person. The restaurant should hire more waiters.
Nice atmosphere and good waiters. Menu is limited.
Convenient restaurant across from Pantages theater.
Menu selections are limited, spendy for what you get.
Other than the proximity to the Pantages which is great, I wouldn't recommend Delphine. The food was mediocre.
Friendly greeting at the front desk; nice patio seating; delicious hummus and soft, warm pita bread; yummy truffle fries; perfect location directly across the street from the Pantages.
1. The food was very good.
2. The service was fair due to the fact that this was my first time there and had asked about portion sizes, to know how much to order. Base on his suggestion, ordered two sides to go with the entrees. The entrees were full meals in themselves. Could have saved $25 and the waste of food.
3. Never a fan of automatically charging for the tip for a party of two.
4. We were seated uncomfortably close to another couple in a half booth half table/chair. The chair was quite uncomfortable. I would have asked to change it, but they all looked the same as the one I was in.
The drinks were ok. The food was blah. I ordered fish and there was a hair in it but it was too late to get a new dish so they took it off the bill and gave us 15% off. Without even asking they put our friends on a separate bill so that the discount did not apply. Not worth the money. We honestly would’ve had more fun at Shake Shack.
Robin was a great waitress. Her knowledge of the menu and wine was excellent! The food was delicious!
Supposedly the nicest restaurant near the Pantages for a pre-show meal, but the food the four of us had was tasteless and way over priced. Better to eat at a fast food place than here. Will never return.
Great for pre-pantages meal!
It was great!
The food was very good, but the outstanding service from Jeremy was above and beyond. His friendly manner and competence made the evening special.
