Delmonico's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I enjoy going there, especially sitting at the bar. Food is reasonably good, but not outstanding given the price. Good ambiance and I generally like going back. My wife and I usually share everything we order, so we can get out of there at a manageable price.
One of my favorite restaurants . We save it for special occasions since it tends to be a little more expensive but it's wonderful. Great wine list, delicious steaks and terrific sides served family style. When we want quiet we ask for the back room and are always accommodated.
Not bad but service was off. Slow to respond. Service team was out of sync. Got my order wrong.
Liked the wine list. Staff knew the products well and helped make a new selection a good one.
It wasn’t a bad experience but it was underwhelming for the prices.
Overall a great place to dine and we usually have s great experience. We were seated in a corner table which was oddly long. It made conversation difficult. I recommend you avoid this particular table (if seated there you will know it) but find time to enjoy the food. The soup happy hour scene is excellent.
Overall, 8 of 10. Our server knew the menu thoroughly and was very attentive. All of the seafood portions of our dinner were excellent. Our steaks, were both over cooked and served warm, not hot. My wife ordered hers mid-rare, and mine medium. Mine was medium but barely warm and my wife's was cooked medium. It should be called Blue Point 'South as it seems the real specialty is seafood. I've legitimately had better steaks at Longhorn for almost half the price. The Oysters and Bisque though...awesome.
I am 62 years old and this is the first review I have ever written. In the past, I have voted with my wallet. If the food and service were good, I would return. If the food and service disappointed, I would take my business elsewhere. The food was so terrible, I feel compelled to try to save as many fellow diners as possible.
Both myself and my wife ordered the "special," which was blackened grouper on a bed of wild rice. Both were completely tasteless and the grouper was not blackened but overcooked and saturated with oil. With tip and a couple of drinks our total was about $140.00. We would have had a better dinner if we had stayed home and had Mrs. Paul's fish sticks and tater tots.
we will never be coming back. used to be our favorite steak house but the chef changed and all went down hill a few years ago. we keep trying to go back to give it another chance. this last time the seafood tower which i thought couldn’t be bad was awful. the lobster salad only tasted like lemon juice and the crab legs weren’t legs at all but claws/shoulders and i couldn’t eat any of it without getting shell in my mouth. the service was horrible. we were there with 2 other ppl when we were asked what we wanted to drink i said i wanted a bottle of wine and the guy just walked off and didn’t ask anyone else what they wanted. then it took 20 minutes to get the wine. he comes back and i told him it was only for my husband & i so he then asks them leaves again without opening the wine so u ask quickly if he could open it but he had to go find a wine opener which is something every waiter carries with them. then he takes our orders and after each order he takes the menu and walks away to put it down. . then he keeps checking on us every 10 minutes it was so annoying . worse experience- will not be returning
Steak was great, and I feel like the meal was a very good value overall. Whoever complains it is pricey has not been to one of the expensive steakhouses in town. For the quality you get here for what you pay, I will definitely be back. I also appreciate that they don't gouge you with drink prices like a lot of these places do. Only problem was the shrimp in the Steak Christopher was a tiny bit overcooked, and mashed potatoes were a bit dry. I usually don't even mention these tiny nitpicky problems, but I know they take the time to read every review. Only thing that kept them from five stars is how noisy it was. It was super crowded when we got there, but even when a bunch of the people left, it was still hard to hear. I think it was the acoustics. Made it hard to enjoy a romantic dinner with my wife.
Favorite restaurant!! Love the food and the service is always great. For the first time kind of disappointed in that the NY strip i always ordered was not the quality I’ve become accustomed to along with the temperature being off ie my medium rare was much closer to medium well almost well
Having lived several years in Cleveland, we have always made Delmonico's and Ken Stewart's our restaurants of choice. Now that we are "out of towners" again, we always make a point to visit one, if not both, when we come back. Such was the case over Thanksgiving, when members of the family got together this past Sunday evening. Unfortunately, this restaurant has taken an obvious turn for the worse, in at least two regards. The service was unbelievably over bearing. In the past, our servers have been knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. During our recent visit, the server was not fully acquainted with the specials or the menu and needed to return to the table several times to provide updates and/or corrections - constant interruptions to our conversation. Additionally, while I do understand that some guests can be obnoxious regarding "upcharges" for substitutions, it was particularly irritating to continually be instructed on what is and is not included with a particular offering, along with it's pricing consequence. My feeling is that if someone is concerned about an additional $3 for a change in their salad selection, they are probably not going to be frequenting Delmonico's. Lastly, the food. Per my sister, the salmon was properly prepared and was very good. Per my daughter and wife, both of whom order the Steak Christopher, while the flavor was nice, the steak itself was tough and not as warm as it should have been. The garlic mashed were also unexceptional. As for my steak (a 16 oz. Delmonico), it served medium, as requested, but without a bit of charring, as also requested. The cut was also very tough and was served at a less than desirable temperature. To the manager's credit, he did remove the charge for my steak, which was much appreciated. The coffee, creme brulee' and flourerless chocolate cake were all excellent.
Next visit to Cleveland I will have to opt for Ken Stewart's. I do hope Delmonico's can return to their past excellence.
